with Digita sales it can be done. The only artist that I think could do it are the more commercial ones like Beyonce or maybe lady gaGa. beyonce will be the more ideal choice because : Shes the most radio friendly artist If she releases 2 songs in the same week feature on a track with say a rapper like Drake have an album track debut and another song with some other artist.

I really don't see something like this happening (I honestly doubt even Taylor could do it) The only way I could see it possibly happening is if one artist was featured on other songs currently strong on radio and digital sales and then release their own material.

For this to happen again an act like Gaga or Taylor would have to release 5 new songs to iTunes and then die the next day.

well, Britney has huge digital clout. "Womanizer", "Circus" and "3" all opened up with ENORMOUS numbers. Maybe if she just randomly released 5 singles.. lmao.

No one will be able to break that record. The Beatles were MASSIVE MASSIVE and MASSIVE!!! and no other act will be able to accomplish anything the beatles have done.

No one CAN break a record of 5 in the top 5, unless 'double A' singles return and you can somehow have 6 in the top 5.

^ no, what he said made sense. If you have a double A side single (although they don't really exist anymore, and i don't think the chart allows for them to exist in the form they used to), you could theoretically take up 3 positions but have 6 songs within the Top 5.

Granted, those aren't the rules now but they once were. So my post was quite relevant. Thanks

If anyone could do it in this era of digital sales, it would be Flo Rida. He broke the digital record twice before and currently holds the record, plus his monster hits get major airplay from multiple formats. The only other two who even have a chance of breaking the record are Glee and (sadly) Lady Gaga. I wonder why that thing shows up when someone brings a MALE act into the conversation...

This is just and FYI but Barry Gibb had five songs he wrote/produced in the Top 10 at one time: "Stayin' Alive" and "Night Fever" by the Bee Gees, "Love Is Thicker Than Water" by Andy Gibb, "Emotion" by Samantha Sang and "If I Can't Have You" by Yvonne Elliman.

I just don't yammer on on and on about it and bring it up in irrelevant posts. This thread is about having more than just the Top 5 singles, having the Top 6 singles or more. Your issue of "technically having 6 songs in the Top 5" is not what they meant, utterly irrelevant, and was you trying to show off.

Barry has had 87 hits on the U.S. Hot 100, of which 56 went in the Top 40 and 30 in the Top 10. Barry enjoyed 16 U.S. number one hits, only John Lennon and Paul McCartney had more. On the U.K. charts he is credited with more than 45 Top 10 hits of which 10 reached number 1. To put this in perspective Elton John has had 67 Hot 100 hits, 51 Top 40 hits and 8 number one hits in the U.S. as a songwriter. Mick Jagger 72 Hot 100 hits, 45 Top 40 hits, 21 Top 10 hits and 8 number one hits in the U.S. as songwriter.

Since 4 in the top 10 has happened within the last few years (when 50 Cent and The Game released simultaneous songs and appeard on each others records)
5 or 6 is definitely possible
Now if you exclude "featurings", where a T-Pain or an Akon or a Timbaland is featured on everything all at the same time, then it would be harder.

I guess that's sort of what I was going for with the thread, if you can 5 songs in the top 10 where the artist is a lead artist. With features it has a greater possibility of happening.

i can't see anyone doing this. unless a record company purposley released 3 singles when the most recent two were at positions 1 and 2 for the purpose of getting this record.(ex. if interscope released Imma Be, Meet Me Halway, and Rock That Body while Boom Boom Pow and I Gotta Feeling were one and two)
i cant see this just "happening though"mayb a possibility of a top 4 if an artist had HUGE two opening singles that are top 5 and when the album comes out digital sales alone put two more songs in the top 5?
otherwise i dont see this as really possible.

One thing that I see being more and more possible is one producer/production team's work taking up half of the top 10.

The BeeGees had #9 #1 hits on the Hot 100. Barry Gibb never had a solo #1 in the U.S. Although I could see him possibly having 16 #1's as a songwriter.
