I think it would be nearly impossible. Like Peigan68 said, the reason it happened with The Beatles is because the rights to their early recordings were spread out among four different labels (Capitol, Swan, Tollie, and Vee-Jay), and each company was releasing its own singles. There are only two singles in that top five from the same label, Capitol, and that's only because it had been over three months since "I Want to Hold Your Hand" was released, and it was time to release the leadoff single from their "Hard Day's Night" movie, which was "Can't Buy Me Love."
1. Can't Buy Me Love (Capitol) 2. Twist And Shout (Tollie) 3. She Loves You (Swan) 4. I Want To Hold Your Hand (Capitol) 5. Please Please Me (Vee-Jay)
Aside from that, no artist has ever come close to the Beatles' popularity since then, except Michael Jackson in "Thriller" days. I remember my high school history teacher telling us that when The Beatles played the Seattle Coliseum in the mid-60s, like three students were in each class. Seriously, over HALF of the student body skipped school to go and hang outside the Beatles' hotel and go to the concert later that night.

Of course, it's always a little easier for writers/producers to achieve this. Hell, look at Dr. Luke/Max Martin, they have a crapload of songs in the top 10 right now. Max Martin has 4 right now (CG, Teenage Dream, Dynamite, DJ's Got us Falling in Love), Dr. Luke has 3, and could have 4 if "Magic" goes top 10. And he could have 5 if "Take it Off" storms into the top 10 and the others all stay there.

OK, so under my scenario at the beginning of this thread, I said it would take something like what's happening to Taylor Swift now. As of this moment, she has 10 of the top 20 songs on iTunes, including the #1 song. Unfortunately, her lead single, "Mine" fizzled, so that hurts her chances of doing it. I'll still be interested in seeing just how well she does this week. I say she ends up with maybe 2 songs in the top 10 of the Hot 100. 4 in the top 20. Thoughts?

Taylor hasn't even had one #1 hit yet, so I'm not holding my breath waiting. +1 I could see Britney doing it

I can't see any artist getting more than 3 of the top 5 any time in the near future. The highest chance is a crossover artist such as Taylor Swift... but I doubt she'd manage that achievement. The pop single would start to cross over to country, hurting the country song slightly, and, especially if the album track is country-ish, it would quite hurt that one.

This Week Taylor Swift makes the record her own!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) She does? Isn't that a little premature? Besides we're talking about the Hot 100, not the iTunes chart. Once the lack of airplay is taken into account, I highly doubt Taylor will have anywhere near 5 songs in the top 10 of the Hot 100.

If anyone could do it in this era of digital sales, it would be Flo Rida. He broke the digital record twice before and currently holds the record, plus his monster hits get major airplay from multiple formats. The only other two who even have a chance of breaking the record are Glee and (sadly) Lady Gaga. I cant stop laughing at this.
