I was wondering what is the longest amount of time an artist has had a song in the top 20 on R&R?
I saw where Celine had a hit in the top 20 from 2/22/02, when a New Day Has Come, came, til 2/27/04 when Have You Ever Been In Love left the chart. I'm not sure how many weeks that is, but it's at least 2 years which would be about 104 weeks.
Has anyone beat that?

Oh my my, oh hell yes! The Backstreet Boys more than doubled that. From the time their song "Quit Playing Games With My Heart" entered the AC Top 20 on July 25, 1997, the Backstreet Boys were in the Top 20 with one song or other for nearly five years. The streak ended on May 10, 2002, when "Drowning" fell out of the chart. Now, I'm not sure exactly how many weeks that was, but I believe it was around 233, give or take a few weeks. And as I recall, it dropped off the "Sans Recurrent Rule" chart not long after, so even if R&R did not have a recurrent rule, they still would not have made it a solid five years. So Celine Dion is far from being the record holder, surprisingly (since you'd think that a boyband like the Backstreet Boys wouldn't be very appealing to the AC audience, but apparently the adults do like their music.

The Backstreet Boys released a lot of singles from each CD, and even a few years back, AC did give follow-ups a good chance at the top 5.
I guess now, it's beginning to be possible that the lead single from a previous album is still in the top 5 by the time the lead single from the next album is released.
