^Thanks for that.
I'm gonna go ahead and pull for another ballad then. I don't care for "Wildfire", and "Anywhere" is decent, but I'd rather it be either "My Heart Can't Tell You No" or "What That Drink Cost Me". Then "Anywhere" as my 3rd choice...

What about Ticket To Ride? What does everybody think of that being released as the follow-up single? It's an up-tempo that has the classic Sara sound. I also think it tells a story just as well as Suds did. Plus I think the ending would be a fresh spin at Country radio. ;)

Anywhere is the only choice they should make. Its by far the best up-tempo; its insanely catchy and would smash on country radio this summer if they release it. It would be the best choice for them to make.
Releasing another ballad now might work, but its a risk they shouldn't take... and they can't get away with releasing 3 ballads in a row for sure, so it'd be best to send out Anywhere and then go for Alone/MHCTYN/WTDCM.

Agreed 100%. Ballads are risky and unless it's a sure fire hit like "A Little Bit Stronger" was, you don't release one. I think "Anywhere" will be a big hit and then worst case scenario even if the next single only gets inside the top 20, you still have a very successful era.

Looks like this could get a few weeks at #1, until Brad takes over...

Not unless this stats losing airplay quicker than Miranda. I saw she's losing a tiny bit, but that could all change.

Miranda seems to be going in the wrong direction over the past week, instead of pushing for #1...

I do agree about "Anywhere". I like the song, but I like her ballads better. But maybe it'd be too much of a good thing to think that radio will play multiple Sara Evans' ballads.
This might be able to get a 2nd week at #1, but I'm not quite ready to rule Miranda out. There was a panel change last week when the stroms hit some stations in Alabama, and then a lot of big radio stations either couldn't play music (lost power, one was even damaged severely) while several others switched to full time storm coverage. So it's possible that some songs could see a bit more of an increase in airplay yet later this week. I think Miranda would be one of those candidates, and I'm not sure that Sara will maintain her bullet.
I'm not sure it'll happen that way, but it's possible. But for now, I think Sara has the edge...I just haven't ruled out Miranda yet. If Miranda can't pull off #1 by the end of this week, she likely won't make it there unless Sony puts the brakes on Brad/Alabama (which might not even stop that one).

I believe Sara Evans will be #1 next week with A Little Bit Stronger. This is how I would rank her chart topping hits (weeks at #1 followed by weeks in the top 40). Ready? 1. A Little Bit Stronger-2011-2-27 weeks so far 2. A Real Fine Place To Start-2005-2-22 3. Born To Fly-2001-1-29 4. Suds In The Bucket-2004-1-27 5. No Place That Far-1999-1-23

"Born To Fly" and "Suds In The Bucket" only spent one week at #1?
Wow, for some reason I thought they were both huge, multi-week hits...

I thought that "A Real Fine Place To Start" had lasted at longer at#1, too. Regardless of whether or not she gets a second week with this one, I bet that they'll announce the new single by next weekend. I'm expecting it to be "Anywhere", but I guess "Ticket To Ride" or "My Heart Can't Tell You No" would be OK. Just not another ballad next.

I'm expecting it to be "Anywhere", but I guess "Ticket To Ride" or "My Heart Can't Tell You No" would be OK. Just not another ballad next. "Anywhere" will likely follow suit, I imagine. It's a paint-by-numbers stadium pop-country rocker that leaves little impression to me, but I can understand why that would be the logical choice. When you've been on the sidelines for over half a decade, comebacks and second chances are extraordinarily rare and difficult to pull off. Now that she's delivered a career-defining #1 comeback ballad, why not try and attempt capping it with something much more lively? Like I've said, "Alone" and "My Heart Can't Tell You No" are the two only other songs I could care less about storing in my media library. Which is sad, because Evans has truly been through quite a lot in the past six years that would have made for a compelling, introspective, intimate work of art. Instead, we have what is essentially Martina McBride's "Shine"; replete with sugary, contemporary AC Country production sheen and soaring platitudes, only re-sequenced and peppered with a few more bittersweet cuts to highlight the lows of relationship but signaling, with just a little will, you'll hang in there like the persevering kitty in that inspirational elementary school poster............and the tracks she has co-writing credits on are tragically the more forgettable, less emotionally compelling tracks overall on the record. Still, I'm relieved one of the album's deserving songs has become a rare breakout comeback hit. Namaste, Lisping Hibiscus

Saw this on Wikipedia, but I can't find anything on her website. I hope this isn't true...anything but "Desperately"...that track is not good. However, the 2nd biggest station on the Mediabase panel, KKGO in Los Angeles, just added "My Heart Can't Tell You No" today. Not sure if that means anything, but I find it very odd that such a large station would jump on a non-single, especially now that ALBS is just starting to drop.. addboard.mediabase.com/AddDetails.asp?sngcde=EVANMHCT&format=C1I would love for MHCTYN to be the next single...that, or "Anywhere"...or a different ballad. Just please, please not "Desperately"...

MAN, was I hooked. And I have to say, that is her strongest album BY FAR. Not ONE bad song on the CD. ("Backseat...", "Tonight", "Otis Redding", "I Give In", "Big Cry"......... you get the point....oh, can't forget to at least mention "Niagara Falls", easily her best song to date) But popping in "Stronger"......I immediately skip over "Desperately". Aside from the boring melody, the "baby" line makes me cringe.

She totally missed out on not releasing Rocking Horse as a single, IMO. Tonight was good, but it wasn't radio friendly in the least. I bet anything that if Rocking Horse were the followup to Suds, it would easily have gone #1.

I'm not sure if MHCTYN will be a #1 single...I like it a lot, but I do wish "Anywhere" had come next as it seemed safer. I'm hoping for at least a top 10 with MHCTYN, though.

Anyone else think this has crossover potential? With the right addition, drums or guitars or whatever, I think it could easily pull a "Need You Now" on the CHR format. It's not the countriest sounding song and her voice isn't so twangy like Jennifer Nettles, when everyone pondered the crossover potential of "Stuck Like Glue". So for that reason, I think it has a shot. I wonder if RCA has even considered the idea?

Anyone else think this has crossover potential? I said this a while back in this thread. I think it does. It is very NYN-ish. I think if they sped it up and added some drums it could crossover and do quite well.

Unless we get a five-week charttopper between now and Labor Day, this wonderful song has a very strong shot at winding up #1 for the year at Billboard.
And what a wonderful story that would be, wouldn't it?

And what a wonderful story that would be, wouldn't it? That would be an incredibly wonderful story. I would be so ecstatic for her if it finishes the year at #1. What an amazing comeback this has been. I really hope MHCTYN (and the rest of the era) is big too. She deserves the spotlight. <3
