Sounds pretty bland/generic/uninteresting to me...so it'll be a hit, just like OMG.

Is this for a re-release or a new album? It is. The demo sounds pretty good to me.

He's re-releasing already? Did he even have 2 singles from the original album?

Is this for a re-release or a new album? The re-release of "Raymond Vs. Raymond". While I generally am annoyed by re-releases, I think this one actually makes sense and is forgivable, given how botched the single release strategy was preceding the album's release...........with what could have otherwise been a huge hit ("Lil' Freak") ruined by its simultaneous spinning alongside "There Goes My Baby", "OMG" and "Hey Daddy (Daddy's Home)", and many of the album's remaining tracks veering too heavily to a filler-feel. This is the right move for Usher, if he hopes to keep momentum on the side of his latest album. He's not going to achieve that with "There Goes My Baby". Namaste, Lisping Hibiscus

Weren't a bunch of those "buzz" singles though? Yes and no. Two of those weren't official releases, but they nonetheless achieved sizable airplay to the point they could easily be mistaken as singles, and thus wouldn't feel fresh to many listeners if suddenly upgraded to single status. The label screwed up the single release strategy big time, despite the album holding its own. Namaste, Lisping Hibiscus

It sounds very "Tick Tock" indeed. The chorus (or pre-chorus?) is catchy.

LOL at re-releasing the album just a few months after it was released.

many of the album's remaining tracks veering too heavily to a filler-feel. I agree, apart from "Guilty" there wasn't any potential hit left.

Strangest decision ever. He has a hit on his hands, and his other songs are doing/have done well at Urban and Rhythmic right? Why would they decide to do a re-release now? Jive is crazy.

LOL at re-releasing the album just a few months after it was released. It's actually a smart move, due to the fact he had no other pop-heavy songs on the album. The album was going to plummet if it didn't have another big top 40 hit.

Well the demo sounds really rough so I don't want to make too many judgments yet but I'm not feeling it at all. I just can't deal with the electronic sound coming from Usher. Hoping I end up liking Versus more than Raymond v. Raymond.
I understand why they're re-releasing though. I agree that he didn't really have any Pop hits left on the album and this song is definitely tailor-made for CHR. Plus, after how the early single rollout was treated, I don't think I'll find anything that Jive does with Usher surprising any more.

Weren't a bunch of those "buzz" singles though? Even if they were "buzz", they all did really well. Didn't they all go top 10 on the Urban format? =)

Ironic, we were just talking about that in the Ciara thread in detail

I agree, I wish Usher would go to his R&B roots instead of going electronic just to get hits. His R&B sound was much better IMO.

Its a club banger and it'll be huge. Pitbull's verse is weird though. Doesn't really fit with the song or Usher's style at all. But sure, whatever works to get a hit. Its pretty formulaic at this point, and even though he is having success lately, quite desperate.

Hey, if his R&B songs aren't crossing over, what is the man to do? He realized (along with people like BEP) that pop is what he needs to explore in order to get big airplay hits at the moment. He's not really selling out imo, just adapting to the times.

This isn't a true re-release. He's releasing a new EP called "Versus" that will be sold on its own but it will also be included in the "Raymond V. Raymond (Deluxe Edition)" So I guess he is pulling a GaGa ala "The Fame Monster".

As his latest album Raymond v. Raymond approaches platinum status, Usher keeps the momentum going with a sequel to the project called Versus. The new set, due August 24, contains eight new songs, including collaborations with Bun B and Pitbull, who guests on the lead single “DJ Got Us Fallin’ in Love,” a dance record produced by Max Martin. The follow-up single, “Hot Tottie” produced by Polow Da Don, will be delivered to radio on August 9. www.rap-up.com/2010/07/08/new-music-usher-f-pitbull-dj-got-us-fallin-in-love/Usher's album is barely 4-months-old and he's already on to his next project. The singer is releasing eight new songs on a new disc, "Versus," which will be out Aug. 24. The songs will also be released on a special deluxe version of "Raymond V. Raymond," which was released in March. That album includes hits like the No. 1 song "OMG." www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5gGTju9DRWG0yvO5Z98EuUXGlqt5AD9GR1RCO1

Oh no! It's with Pitbull! Why?! I can't stand that guy, he is horrible. +1, I hope there's a version without Pitbull available too, lol. Strangest decision ever. He has a hit on his hands, and his other songs are doing/have done well at Urban and Rhythmic right? Why would they decide to do a re-release now? Jive is crazy. I think they lost the opportunity to have a follow up Top 40 hit with the songs that already did well and peaked in Urban and could have done well in Top 40 had they been released to this format too ("Lil Freak", "Hey Daddy".) "There Goes My Baby" is not going to do better in POP than "Moving Mountains" imo. This sounds like a hit though (minus Pitbull ) and I think it's gonna smash right out of the gate. He's one of Jive's best selling artists and the re-release is going to help him sell a lot more, so why not?
