1999: You'll Be In My Heart/Phil Collins
At first, when Casey announced the spotlight, I thought he was going to play the top songs of the year, from 1990 through 1999. So when I heard the first Spotlight jingle, I was thinking that he'd play "Oh Girl" by Paul Young. But he played "Release Me" by Wilson Phillips. Then I got to thinking, "Oh, he's playing the number one songs from mid-October of their respective years." What I didn't stop to think about was that "Release Me" hit number one in mid-September. Then, when he played "All The Man That I Need" by Whitney Houston for the 1991 song, I concluded that he was just playing selected #1s from each year.
As for the chart, as I predicted, Josh Groban re-enters the Top Ten. But he won't be there for long, however, as he only has one more week before he hits the 50-week mark on the R&R chart and he'll automatically be removed then. My guess is that the song "8th World Wonder" will be pulled back into the Top Ten via vacuum effect that week. I sure hope so, since that's a cool song.
BTW, I think I missed at least one song, but it may have been two. If you know what it is, by all means, let me know.
