Utada Hikaru -- one of Japan's most prolific pop stars, is releasing a new single and "Singles Collection Volume 2" at the end of this year, before going on a hiatus that could last anywhere from "as little as 2 but as long as 5" years. The collection will reportedly have all of her singles from 「誰かの願いが叶うころ」 (When Someone's Wish Comes True) until 2008's "Prisoner Of Love" and the new single coming up before the compilation. According to all reports, "Come Back To Me" will be excluded.
The album will reportedly have 4 or 5 new songs.

I'm looking forward to the new songs. I hope they're good. I also hope her hiatus isn't too long.

^ Oh, a year? That's not bad at all. Hopefully she keeps to her word.

So Hikki is still on her hiatus, but she was asked to create a song for Evangelion 3.0, and agreed to it. The song is called "Sakura Nagashi," which means flow/sinking cherry blossoms. You can download it from iTunes. The song starts off w/ somber vocals on a piano background and crescendos w/ drums and violin playing in the background. For me, it's one of her most beautiful songs, and that's saying a lot from me because I love A LOT of her songs.
Here's a snippet of the "official MV;" this is at the end of the song- yes, that is a baby suckling on his mother. Personally, you don't get the full impact of the song until you listen to the whole song from beginning to the end.

Mother of Japan popstar Utada plunges to deathAgence France-Presse Posted at 08/22/2013 6:33 PM | Updated as of 08/22/2013 6:34 PM TOKYO - The mother of Japanese pop singer Hikaru Utada has been found dead after plunging from a 13th storey apartment in an apparent suicide, reports said Thursday. Police believe Keiko Fuji, 62, jumped to her death from the Tokyo home she shared with a man in his 30s, Jiji Press said, adding foul play was not suspected. Fuji was well-known in Japan during the 1960s and 1970s for her "enka" -- a popular folk singing style. Her daughter, whose 1999 debut album "First Love" is one of Japan's biggest-ever sellers, has had commercial success in Taiwan, the Philippines and Thailand, as well as Britain, France, Germany and North America.

Oh my god. RIP. Her mom must have been suffering from depression for awhile, maybe that was one of the reasons behind Utada'd extended hiatus.
