Katy's numbers are what I expected. Fantasia has superceded expectations. I hope she can snatch the top spot. Doubt it. It'll probably be another Bieber/Monica situation.

Clearly the suicide attempt raised the numbers a bit

HDD:
The summer may be nearing an end, but Katy Perry’s still in her Daisy Dukes and bikini top, straddling the chart universe.
That’s the news from one-day sales reports sent to us by those retailers who haven’t permanently deleted us from their e-mail base.
Coming on the heels of two straight smash singles, including "California Gurls" and the title track, Perry’s sophomore Capitol Records album, Teenage Dream, finds her in the clouds, set to debut at #1 with a total of around 200k, almost half of which will be digital downloads. And while the first-week sales are slightly below expectations, if the steady stream of hit singles keep coming, it could eventually approach a similar performer, Black Eyed Peas’ E.N.D., which is up to 2.7m and still selling 12-15k a week more than a year after its release.
And while Perry’s chart-topping debut would suggest sex trumps a suicide attempt, Fantasia’s J/RMG album Back to Me seemed to generate sales from media interest in her overdose, with first-week estimates of 120-130k, making her a solid #2.
Capitol Nashville co-ed country rockers Little Big Town are targeting sales in the 40-45k range for their new album, The Reason Why.
Usher’s new LaFace/JLG remix album Versus will be counted separately in the chart tally, with around 40-45k, while tne newly released deluxe edition should add some sales to the current Raymond v Raymond CD, already over a million.

I was right about Katy's numbers. Go Fantasia, block her.
Edit: According to new update Fantasia has no chance.

That's more like it.
And everyone saying the suicide attempt was to increase sales is stupid. The controversy broke out about the affair right at that time...it just so happened to be right before the album release

That second update seems much more "normal". I'm still surprised Fantasia is estimated to sell over 100K, I would've thought at the most 70K or so.

I can't at some of y'all saying Fantasia faked a suicide, it's just disturbing.

Not saying she tried to kill herself for money or staged it for publicity.

i agree with that to some extent because alot of people didn't know she was releasing an album but i honestly thought it would cause her sales to suffer

Surprised about Fantasia. Never thought she would have that high of a sales week. Also, kinda of thought Katy could pull off bigger numbers.

At them thinking Katy Perry will have Black Eyed Peas type longevity. It will sell consistently but not at bep levels imo.

Disturbed!
Have all there albums, I'll be buying this one as well. Even though the three songs i have heard off it leave a lot to be desired. Never Again, Asylum, and Another Way To Die.

Katy really should have pulled in at least around 250k, I'm sorry. Fantasia's numbers are a pleasant surprise.

Not saying she tried to kill herself for money or staged it for publicity. But would that really get people to go out to the store and buy the album? It just doesn't make sense to me. Would reading the headlines about that or seeing it on the news generate the action of people going out to the store to purchase the album? There are a few people, but not that many. I can't at some of y'all saying Fantasia faked a suicide, it's just disturbing. No, it's a funny and cool thing to say. Suicide is not funny. NEVER. The end.
