Boyle is a huge star and so is Mariah, Mariahs last effort struck gold, not huge, but still certified, and she had a nice top10 hot100 hit. So hasbeen not...... Her christmas album will do great i think. Jessica's last christmas album went gold or platinum. JLo & a christmas album lol over before it even began.

YEEEEESSSSS! Her first Christmas album is fantastic. Her first X-Mas CD is pretty great!!!!! It's definitely my favorite holiday album. She just has the perfect voice for Christmas music. Her rendition of 'What Child Is This?' still gives me chills.

Does anyone know why Do You Know wasn't released as a single? That was a great track.

Does anyone know why Do You Know wasn't released as a single? That was a great track. Probably because 'Come On Over' underperformed and 'Remember That' and 'Pray Out Loud' both bombed. 'Do You Know' is a great song, but it definitely would have needed an edit. Anyway, I believe that album has its own thread, so we should probably stick to discussing her Christmas music in this one. :)

Jessica Simpson, Mariah Carey Ready New Christmas Albums source: www.allheadlinenews.com/articles/7019740779It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas for two pop divas…again. Mariah Carey and Jessica Simpson are both planning on releasing their second holiday albums this year. Mariah is releasing her first holiday album since 1994’s “Merry Christmas,” which has been certified 5x platinum in the U.S. Carey, who created a modern yuletide classic in “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” is set to feature a remix of the track on her upcoming album, which is set to feature both original songs and covers. Carey is teaming up with her former musical director and “American Idol” judge Randy Jackson on the project, who also produced one of her most underrated album tracks “Subtle Invitation” off 2003’s “Charmbracelet.” She’s also working with Broadway composer Marc Shaiman, who helped bring the music of “Hairspray” and the upcoming “Catch Me If You Can” to the stage. Jessica Simpson is also set to release her second holiday collection. Her first, “Rejoyce: The Christmas Album,” made much less of an impact than Carey’s. It was originally released as a 7-Eleven exclusive EP (yes, that 7-Eleven), and later fleshed out to a fuller album. It featured duets with then-husband Nick Lachey and sister Ashlee Simpson. “Rejoyce,” Simpson’s best-selling album since 2003’s “In This Skin,” featured covers of songs like “O Holy Night” and “What Christmas Means To Me” and an original Simpson co-write, “It’s Christmas Time Again.” Simpson is currently in the studio recording the new album, on the fast-track to hit shelves before December. Carey and Simpson aren’t the only divas feeling the holiday spirit this year. Katharine McPhee is following up her sophomore effort “Unbroken” with her first seasonal collection. Tentatively titled “Christmas Is the Time…To Say I Love You,” McPhee’s album is set to feature an original self-written ballad along with classic covers. Check out her “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” cover, released last year, for a taste. Although not confirmed, Susan Boyle is reportedly readying a holiday album to follow-up last year’s smash “I Dreamed a Dream” album. Annie Lennox is also set to release her first holiday collection, “A Christmas Cornucopia,” this fall.

I never realized 'It's Christmas Time Again' was an original song. Funny, because it's my favorite track on the album.

I think this is a mistake for Jessica. She should have tried making another pop album to try and regain some of her popularity. I don't see this Christmas CD even reaching gold status.

She'll be lucky if it even sells half of that.
Didn't she say around the time when she released her country CD that she would never go back to the pop world?

Yeah, she said that she's done with pop music and will only do country in the future, even if she has to release it independently. We'll see if that pans out, though.

We'll now i think her saying that she was done with Pop music, was a huge mistake. I think she could come up with something really nice and get herself another hit. Thats the route she really needs to take. I think she's still on the label, they haven't mentioned anything about her departing from it.

Nov, 23 -- release date.
Jessica Simpson is recording with Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli and country legend Willie Nelson for her upcoming Christmas album!
“Plus, one lucky U.S. soldier in Afghanistan will get to sing a duet with her,” an insider tells Life & Style. “They’ll sing ‘I’ll Be Home for Christmas.’”

Shoot!
E! News has learned exclusively that recent reports saying Simpson would be teaming up on a Christmas album with Andrea Bocelli and Willie Nelson appear to be only…half true. Sources confirm that while Willie Nelson will appear on the album; Bocelli will not.
Bocelli’s rep adds, “We were indeed approached by her management a while ago, but Mr. Bocelli’s current recording and performing schedule does not allow him to add on new engagements. We told Jessica’s management yesterday that the duet cannot happen. But we all wish her great success with the Christmas album.”

This is being rushed..not sure if that is good.

As long as the vocals are solid (on par with her first Christmas album, at the very minimum), I'll be satisfied. I wonder if the album will be all covers or if she's writing an original song or two...

She should NOT do a Christmas CD. It seems her releases are all over the place. Dance Pop-Country-Christmas. Find a foundation and stick with it.

I think she knows that she could possibly do something here. But she can sing, she can do something with a great Pop album to. With the right producers and music i think she can see success.

I like that she's dabbled in different genres over the years. It keeps things interesting. Besides, her first Christmas album is flawless. I do agree with twilight in that I'd like her to do another pop album, though. I loved Do You Know, but it doesn't begin to compare to her other albums (even Sweet Kisses has its gems). She should hook up with Dr. Luke or Max Martin and record a surefire smash. I think she has some gas left in her career; she just needs the right song to reignite it.

www.navy.mil/search/display.asp?story_id=56376Singer and actress Jessica Simpson visited USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) Oct. 1 during the ship's current deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. The visit, sponsored by Navy Entertainment and the United Services Organization (USO), included several autograph sessions, meals with the crew, and a performance in the ship's hangar bay. During her visit, eight Truman Sailors and Marines performed for Jessica and several hundred of their shipmates for the chance to perform a duet with her at the Rockefeller Christmas Tree Lighting in November. The eight Sailors had been selected to sing based on the results of their audition during the carrier's "Truman Idol" talent search, a program modeled after the popular TV show. Although temperatures in the hangar bay reached well into the upper 90s, the gifted singers had no trouble singing Jessica's special request song: "I'll be Home for Christmas". "When I auditioned for her I was nervous at first," said Yeoman Seaman Marshondra Miller, the contest runner-up. "After a little while, I realized that she's a person too, so I became more comfortable. I had a really good time singing in front of her, and she gave all the singers nothing but compliments." Aviation Boatswain's Mate 3rd Class John Britt, USS Harry S. Truman Air department, V-2 division, emerged as the contest winner. Britt's wife and child will be accompanying him to New York to watch his performance and share the experience. "It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and I'm honored to be part of it," said Britt. "I'm excited to be able to represent Truman, as well as the entire Navy. My family and shipmates are proud of me, and I couldn't ask for anything better." Britt's duet with Jessica will also be featured in her upcoming Christmas album. "She knows the sacrifices the military men and women are making on behalf of their country, and she wants to do what she can in return," said Joe Simpson, Jessica's father and manager. "She's proud to be able to sing with someone fighting for our freedom." Capt. Craig Clapperton, USS Harry S. Truman executive officer, said he was honored to have Jessica on board as a guest, and felt she boosted the crew's morale with her heartfelt appreciation of their professionalism and service. "I got to get my picture taken with her," said Operations Specialist Seaman Jeroy Williams. "It was really amazing to meet a celebrity. She's a lot prettier in real life, but she's shorter than I thought she'd be. She was really nice to everybody, and I'm really glad I was able to meet her." During a performance in the ship's hangar bay, Jessica thanked the hundreds of Sailors and Marines for their service and shared love of country and sang "God Bless America." "I've never meet anybody famous before," said Operation Specialist Seaman Alison Wagner. "It's really great that she took the time to come out here to visit us while we were deployed. It definitely lifted my spirits and made me feel a lot better being on deployment." During a tour of the ship, Jessica also participated in a 50 cal. gun shoot, served as a helmsman on the bridge, and spoke to the crew on the 1-MC. Although she enjoyed everything during her visit, her favorite part, she said, was meeting the crew members. "I've been on many USO trips," she said, "and I always enjoy sitting and talking with service members. To be on board Truman has been a blessing. I've met so many amazing people, and everybody has been so welcoming and made me feel like I'm at home. I can't express enough how much I appreciate the sacrifices you make for our country."
