Yes, yes, yes! I'm glad they got it right this time w/ her singles. This or "No Good in Goodbye" are so much more perfect for radio than "Satisfied" was.
Here's hoping this returns Jewel to the Top 20 like "Stronger Woman."

This is such a strong choice and probably her best shot at getting another hit, hopefully it'll at least go top 20. I loved Satisfied, but it was not radio friendly at all.

Wow, I'm really impressed with Valory. I agree with those that stated that it's her most radio-friendly single choice. If she films a video and can gain some traction, I could see this song having serious potential. The song is very melodic and has a strong hook.

Her best chance at a country hit with this one. Sounds more country than the other choices.

Ehhhh, not impressed.
"No Good in Goodbye" has more substance than this, and I believe that is her best bet at a hit.

I really like this song, and think it would be a decent (top 15) hit if it were the lead single. I just hope that the underperformance of the first two singles doesn't hurt this one's chances.

I don't love this song, but it isn't bad. I don't think it is going to make a dent at radio at all.
I really think the best song on the entire album is "Fading", and I honestly think they should've just taken a shot with it at this point. At the least, it would make an amazing video, and would probably move some records.
The problem with this album is that they chose "Satisfied" second. The plan should've been:
1) Stay Here Forever (along with the V-Day soundtrack) 2) Ten or Love You Forever 3) Fading 4) Bad As It Gets
I think Jewel has some good stuff on this record, but they really messed her up with such an awful second single.

At the least, it would make an amazing video, and would probably move some records. I disagree completely. I think it wouldn't have done any better than "Satisfied," because while neither song is radio-friendly, at the very least "Satisfied" is a GREAT song. While, "Fading" is one of the lesser moments of the record, IMHO. A song about taking off your clothes in the bathroom of Walmart doesn't sound like a winner w/ radio. Not to mention, the way she performs the song is different than she does other songs on the album, and this instance not in a good way.

I thought I remembered someone on this forum saying (and citing) that if her last single flopped, she'd give up on radio.
I guess she thought again...

I thought I remembered someone on this forum saying (and citing) that if her last single flopped, she'd give up on radio. I don't think that would make much sense, since she requested that the plug be pulled on FJLALS so that she could take some personal time off. You are talking about Sara Evans and this thread is about Jewel. Jewel did say if "Satisfied" flopped she would be done with this record, but maybe Valory thinks they can have a hit here.

I found this review of Jewel's album courtesy the LA Times Music Blog - latimesblogs.latimes.com/music_blog/2010/06/album-reviews-jewels-sweet-and-wild.htmlIt essentially describes how I feel about the record as a whole, and even expands upon my views on "Fading." Jewel needs something out of left field to separate her from the pack if she is going to make a name for herself (in this format). There is nothing that stands out about "Ten." I expect it to be lost in the shuffle while the new singles from Sara Evans and other artists fly right by it.

Well, I like Fading, but Ten is IMO a better song and a much more radio-friendly one. It's well written, has a good instant melody and a great chorus and I'd say the counting thing is pretty catchy.
Jewel said that if Satisfied were not a hit, Valory would not release any more singles from it. But the fans made a big effort to let them know they should at least try Ten, since it's a fan and critics favorite. I guess that after scoring the Emmy gig they saw a little window to try again one last time and released Ten immediately.
I do believe this will chart higher than any Sweet and Wild single, hopefully it will at least make Top 20.

I understand their confusion. When someone makes 100 posts a day, stuff like this is bound to happen. I'm definitely with you there... Anyway, as far as "Ten" goes, it's not a bad song, and I can see why it's a fan favorite and more radio-friendly and what not. It shouldn't be too hard to outpeak "Satisfied", which I only thought would make top 60 and was right about that. But I still don't see how Jewel has a hit on her hands here. I think it'll chart, yes, and that it has a chance to barely squeak into the top 50. If she gets really lucky, maybe she'll just barely sneak into the top 40. I don't see how she could do any better than that, but maybe I'll be suprised. Based on recent trends, however, I don't see this song making it out of the shuffle.

Post about songs, not about each otherLook buddy, I made a mistake, and its really not a big deal. Its not your place to tell me how much I can post in a day. (You should see how much people post outside the country forum).

I like to keep an open mind about this, because I think it is radio friendly and it should be a hit, but I'm not thinking its guaranteed yet either. I think Jewel may have killed her momentum with the bad single choice. I still can't believe "I Do" from the first album wasn't a hit though.

I mean, Jewel definitely had at least decent sales with the "Sweet and Wild" album. I believe she sold over 30,000 units in the opening week, and managed to land at #3 on the country albums chart. But you're spot on with single releases..."Stay Here Forever" was decent, but it wasn't enough and underperformed as a lead single. I'm no psychic, but I knew "Satisfied" was doomed from the start after only half a listen. I do agree that "Ten" is much better, and maybe now that a lot of artists have their lead singles out (aka, not as many highly anticipated single releases are left in the wings at the current moment), maybe it can do better. I'm just not too terribly optimistic...

I share your sentiments overall, although I have to say "Ten" doesn't do it for me either. It's simply unmemorable as far as its production is concerned, and feels lazy lyrically (the countdown theme is hardly a new lyrical frontier, given the Jackson Five, the Dave Matthews Band and Feist, among others, have utilized it in individual tracks) If anything, I think "The Shape of You" would perform marginally better than this if released as a single, as I find the former much better written with themes that would more likely emotionally tug heartstrings than this forgettable ditty would. It's already getting some spins on radio and it has 1 official add. It's a good start for the single.

I sure hope this does something! It's a really good song. Jewel said on Twitter she'll shoot the video on the 24th or so this month! Should be out mid-October I'd think.
Plus, she'll be singing in the America's Got Talent finale tomorrow, hopefully it will raise more attention to the album/single (even though she will sing something else, for sure)

Jewel has some amazing vocal skills, I love most of her songs, she can write beautifully. I loved stay here forever. I absolutely loved Satisfied and I am still not sure why nothing really happened with the song, I thought it had some potential. This song is very good, I don't think it will last long though. Country Music hasn't seemed to be very accepting of her music lately, I rarely hear her played anymore. I hear Stronger Woman every once and I while. I'd like to be wrong and hope to hear it more. She has talent no doubt about it, Being charted at 70 on MediaBase still seems high so I don't know whats gonna happen.

I'm not sure that this song will chart. With an upcoming video, that might help. But right now she's not close enough to the top 60, nor is she making any strides. We've also got new music from Tim, Toby, Billy, and Lady A now...Jewel's MB rank is only in the 70's, putting her behind other new songs from Craig Morgan, Troy Olsen, and others, and as I said, with heavy-hitters on the way. I don't think this song is going to be a success as I don't believe it'll chart. But maybe she'll prove me wrong.

If she was going to make any kind of mark on the genre right now she needed a lead single from a new project or something totally out of left field (like the brilliant 'Fading', as I stated earlier). She isn't successful enough in country to release safe, boring singles. The video will be good, I'm sure, but it won't help the song crack the Top 60.
