And no Pop release yet, and there probably won't be one because of Carrie's contractual obligations with Sony Nashville and how they don't do any work with Pop radio whatsoever, blah blah blah, not releasing it to Pop is stupid, etc. Well, they could set an adds date for pop radio, just like they gave an HAC adds date for GG, but they won't have much means to do anything other than that. Carrie's promo team has a working relationship/connections with country radio. She'd have to have a different team working pop and other formats, like Taylor has Universal working her songs to pop radio (and not her Big Machine team).... but, she won't. That contractual thing you're talking about was Carrie's decision. She chose to leave [then] Arista New York out of the equation when she re-negotiated her contract. "Blown Away" has to blow up on its own in other formats. ETA: VIDEO of Carrie at the lake.

IIRC, "Pontoon" got a boost from LBT's performance at the CMT Awards and then consistently remained high on iTunes as airplay increased (now at 18.911M AI). On the other hand, as Carrie disappeared from the American public's view as she toured overseas, "Blown Away" dropped below the top 200 all-genre songs. It re-appeared and continued to rise as BA continued to gather airplay and is now just outside the top 100 on iTunes with only 5.898M AI airplay. So no, BA's iTunes progress is not like "Pontoon"'s situation and yes, the immediate visible iTunes impact of the limited but growing airplay seems like a good indicator of how impactful a single BA is, especially when considered with how BA already sold 200k from just 2 performances prior to getting any airplay at all.

I really hope "Cupid's Got a Shotgun" isn't a single. To me, it just seems kind of obnoxious. But then again, I don't get why everyone seems to hate "Thank God For Hometowns." Maybe I'm just weird. The production and overall feel of "Thank God For Hometowns" makes me think of "Hometown Glory" sometimes. My single picks: Good Girl Blown Away Do You Think About Me Two Black Cadillacs Those are my single picks too and in that exact order. I agree wholeheartedly with TPTB's choice of BA as 2nd single. BA wasn't my love-at-first-listen-to-the-album track, but when it clicked with me, I was OBSESSED. For a few days, it was all I played to and from work... over and over and over again. I paid attention to the sound of every single instrument and every layer of Carrie's vocals. Obsessed, I tell you! This is THE statement single of the album and I have no doubt it will be given the most promotion. (See: private, red-carpet event for the premiere of the video; attended by no less than Carrie) DYTAM always makes me smile. Without fail. It's one of my faves on the album. I agree that it would be a great follow-up to the darker, dramatically-produced BA. Carrie's vocals here are just so pure and clear and sweet and... lovable. It would make a great transition to.... TBC, my love-at-first-listen-to-the-album track. During the fan club listening party, I started saying "woooow" repeatedly as this song was playing. I love the sound, the melody, the vocals. I love this song! I couldn't even pay attention when the next song started playing because I was still thinking about TBC with my thought process going wild: "OMG, they killed him??! They killed him! I wonder how..." Needless to say, I like the lack of details because I liked thinking up scenarios. I love how the instrumentation continues even after Carrie stops singing. IMO, it adds to the drama. When the percussion kicks in... *drools*.

Awesome audience response at RAH! So, so proud of Carrie!
For those who were there, did RAH forego putting chairs in the floor area (maybe so they could sell more tickets)? The people are so near the front, all standing and so packed together. From other concert vids I've seen from RAH, the audience are all calmly seated on their chairs in the floor area. This is great though, the appreciation from the audience is so up close and immediate. If I were Carrie, I would be all: "They like me. They really, really like me!" :)

So weird (in an awesome way) to see Blown Away (both album and song charting higher in the UK (and Ireland for BA the album) compared to the US. She is currently promoting and performing overseas, hence those numbers. I know that, of course Just a general comment, I hope you don't mind. (Fans who've heard Carrie "critics" repeatedly point out the USA-only meme will understand)

Carrie was interviewed on Loose Women and did a different acoustic version of "Blown Away." It was fantastic! The performance is at the 6:20 mark:

Here's the webchat, complete with the kick to the interviewer I was also surprised to find out that Carrie has never been asked to be a mentor on Idol. What's up with that?
