^Legends! Loved the whole performance. Never thought I would see the both of them perform together! The energy plus the vocals were both outstanding imo. The crowd really seemed enjoy it as well. Btw, Jimmy Carter tweeted this yesterday: Just do a duets show...by far the highlights tonight...and wait until you hear Brad and Carrie's duet..in May about 18 hours ago via Twitter for Mac He's seems a big fan of it.. Hope it doesn't dissapoint, tho.

I thought the performance was really energetic and fun, but I personally don't buy Carrie's voice with rock. I thought Stephen drowned her out, especially on "Walk this Way."

Loved everything about the performance. The final notes Carrie sang with Steven fanning her = EPIC. Home girl is the HBIC. No doubt.

I got that too a bit, but I honestly think it was intentional because he was her guest... I think it was great how they switched off opposed to harmonizing too much because then Carrie would have definitely been drowned out. Carrie has a powerful voice, but Steven's voice is legendary for it's high/powerful screams that would drown out almost any vocalist. Carrie definitely belongs in Country but she proved last night that she can pull off a Rock performance as well...

Yes, I think Carrie can handle rock-oriented Country songs as most of her UI solo performances have been successful. But put up against Stephen Tyler, who really unleashed, I thought vocally she was outshined. But the two were clearly having fun and played off each other nicely, so as a performance it was a good one, but not one I would ever pick to highlight Carrie's vocal abilities.

Agreed, but that ending riff of hers when Steven fans her is a great display of some of her vocal abilities... I loved that!

I thought Carrie was ridiculously on-point. I guess I can see where Steven 'unleashed' himself more but I also thought he had a couple rougher moments vocally speaking. Don't get me wrong, though - he wasn't bad by any means. IdolsNow tweeted about Carrie's Girls Night Out rehearsal: Another blog entry about the Girls Night Out special: Today rehearsals for tonight’s “Girls’ Night Out” show began at 10:30 AM, with Vince Gill working up his rendition of “Jesus Take The Wheel” with the house band in a rehearsal room. I’m a longtime Vince Gill fan (he was at his peak of popularity about the time I got into country music and his songs of heartache matched my state of mind perfectly back then), so I was very glad he finally participated in the ACMA festivities, as he hadn’t attended since I started working on the show. In “American Idol” parlance, Vince “made the song his own,” and I realized how important his guitar sound was to his music. Vince was also constantly joking with the band, saying he wanted to perform “Cowboy Casanova” but his wife wouldn’t let him, plus he couldn’t find clothes tight enough to fit the song!
After running through the song a few times, Carrie Underwood arrived and they worked on their duet (from this point on, I won’t mention the songs, as I see the spoilers have been picked up here and there on the web). Around this time, the performers who were scheduled for rehearsal afterward all started to arrive, with Reba, Rascal Flatts, Jennifer Nettles and Ronnie Dunn all adding to the star power and hanging out in the room at the same time. One thing about country music: everyone knows everyone else and they all get along, with the singers not rehearsing all bobbing their heads to the music and singing along. They were especially impressed by Carrie’s singing on her duet with Vince, with everyone clapping at the end.
As the other acts ran through their songs together, I was busy watching for my chance to get Vince’s autograph, but he was busy conversing with the various musicians hanging around. I thought I had lost my chance because I thought he’d left, only to see him a few minutes later sitting in a chair alone in the public hallway, listening to Carrie’s version of “Jesus Take The Wheel” on his phone, still working on his performance. I took my shot and Vince was more than happy to sign a few CD covers I had brought to Las Vegas. I told him how he was one of the artists that got me into country music and he joked how he ruined me for life and thanked me. As super nice as expected, and surprisingly tall. Taller that me anyway!
Rehearsals have now moved to the big stage in the arena. Time to take a look!

I actually think Steven's high notes and rocked out screams were crazy good, but he had his share of pitchiness and rough vocals (not in a good way, IMO). Converse to dbhmr, I think Carrie's ability to hand the fast-paced staccato notes of the verses followed by great harmonizing during the choruses >>> Steven's vocals. Both of their stage presences was phenomenal. I'll give Carrie a solid "A" for her portion of the performance and Steven a "B/B+" for his contribution. The only part of Carrie's performance that was below an "A" grade, IMO, was her riffing at the end of 'Walk' when Steven was fanning her. (To make the performance an "A", for me, she should have harmonized with the guitar 1/2 octave higher which would have been out of her range). I would NEVER complain because the rest was so perfect. When you have an artist's performance being the hot topic of any awards show and dominating the news, it doesn't matter what awards were handed out. That artist is the winner. Carrie is the winner. I'm proud to be a Carrie fan. Well said. This is all the more embarrasing for the ACMs that the most entertaining performance from last night by far (at least based on youtube views) comes from a highly consistent artist who was not given an nomination for Entertainer of the Year when she had one the best selling tours, album sales, and singles sales figures from the past year. This is not to take anything away from Taylor Swift, whom I feel was deserving of the award, but makes the nomination snub even more irritating to me...

She went from rocking out on Walk This Way to touching people to tears on How Great Thou Art. Stealing the shows in completely opposite way. All in 24 hours. AMAZING!

From the AP: LAS VEGAS (AP) - It took Miranda Lambert no time at all to name her favorite performance during the taping of “ACM Presents Girls’ Night Out: Superstar Women of Country.” “My favorite part of the night was Carrie Underwood,” Lambert said. “She brought the house down.” A day after her sizzling performance with Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler at The Academy of Country Music Awards, Underwood was at it again Monday night during a tribute to some of the iconic women of the genre that will air April 22 on CBS. She teamed with Vince Gill on “How Great Thou Art,” bringing the crowd to its feet yet again with a soaring, pitch-perfect vocal. “I love being able to do different dynamic things,” Underwood said “… Those rare moments when you get to do something that’s unexpected or out of the blue, that’s where creativity comes out when you put yourself in that one moment.” www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/apr/5/acm-honors-top-female-artist-in-girls-night-out/?utm_source=RSS_Feed&utm_medium=RSS

Wow, wow, wow! And my goosebumps multiplied when the audience members started standing up and cheering. I know that feeling. I felt that at the Hollywood Bowl, also when Carrie started singing HGTA. It's like you can't help but stand up because you feel how special that moment is. Dramatic, I know, but really.

It's amazing how I get chills and teary eyed whenever I hear her sing HGTA... the song itself is already quite powerful... but on Carrie's vocals, it's a whole different level... she's on a league of her own when it comes to amazing vocals conveying real intense emotional performances!!

It's about time HGTA gets shown to the world (Too bad it's on a Friday night). I loved Vince playing the guitar in the middle and their voices blend together so nicely. I'm counting down the days for this performance!!

Carrie is getting at the top of her game as a performer/entertainer. If she reaches the same level as an artist, I'll say the next era could be her best. All she has to do is release a top-notch album, with quality songs.

I cannot wait to see this on TV! It's about time the world gets to see Carrie Underwood's true, impeccable, emotionally soaring vocals. I knew it would happen, either the ACMs or GNO...
I think she should re-record the song or record the JTTW/HGTA medley and place it on the Deluxe Edition of the new album as a bonus song.

She is so perfect. :'( I really liked Wynonna's comments about the event: "Such a sistership," Wynonna Judd said of the gathering. "Women bond in a way that's very sacred. I look at Loretta up there, who's the reason I'm in country music. We stand on her shoulders. And looking at Carrie and Miranda and Jennifer and thinking this is the next generation, and I'm just in a surreal place that's between worlds."
