Fourth, technically. I don't remember how this song goes but I feel like the band should cash in their chips and try for album 3. Unfortunately they played it stupid and waited four years to release a follow-up when they should've banged it out quicker and capitalized off the momentum of their debut. It's a good effort but they lost all their cred in the meantime. Now they've gotta build that back up.

On first listen, this feels better as a single than anything that they've released on this album so far. The pre-chorus and chorus are both really good. The verses are a bit static though. It's overall more likable than "Chasm" and "Missing" in that it aims more for the center of their fanbase, while "Missing" was lighter and too major key for active rock radio and "Chasm" was heavier and too dissonant to make a mainstream impact. If this had been the follow-up to "Again", this album era probably would have been more successful, but as single #4, I'm not sure that this song can muster enough adds to chart well.
I also don't think the amount of time since the first album is what has sunk this era. "Again" did plenty well for itself. I think the dual second single was a problem, with neither being the right choice. Also, while "Again" did plenty well, a stronger lead single probably would have charted higher. I, personally, like the first three singles off the debut all better than all the singles off this album up until now. "Arise" may ultimately change that.

I thought the stupid decision came with the follow-up single selection... or should I say selections. Releasing "Beautiful Bride" to both rock formats surely would have seen a far more satisfactory outcome. Pushing "Arise" at this stage is moreorless pointless.

The problem is you guys are talking about singles but how well the singles do doesn't really matter in comparison to the fact that the self-titled went Platinum and this new album has not even gone Gold yet.

Excellent point. Guess this album is missing the pop hit that their debut had.

One thing to consider and i'm not sure how it impacts this song is that Lacey just released a HAC song with Orianthi.
