Freemasons remix new Shakira singleFriday, September 17 2010, 6:28am EDT By Robert Copsey, Music Reporter Shakira's new single 'Loca' has been remixed by Freemasons. 'Loca' will precede the Colombian singer-songwriter's new album The Sun Comes Out. The Brighton-based dance producers, who remixed Shakira's last single 'Gypsy', announced that they are reworking her latest effort on their Twitter page. They tweeted: "[Last] few days of remixing the Shakira and Dizzee Rascal record .. Brilliant !! Dizzee's opening line is genius !! "'That girl is a nutter' ... Forever will that opening line ring in our ears - Shakira and Dizzee mixed finished !! Fingers crossed !!'" Shakira recently opened her worldwide 'Tour of Earthly Delights' in Montreal. source
I am absolutely loving both the English and Spanish versions of the original. I can't wait to hear that the Freemasons did with this one!

Very exciting! I can't say I loved that mid-tempo mix of "Gypsy." It was a rare misstep by them for me. Hope this one brings a little more energy a la their brilliant mix of "Beautiful Liar."

Digitally delivered... Static Revenger Mix 7:02 Static Revenger Mix Radio Edit 3:32 Freemasons Radio Mix 3:01 Freemasons Mixshow Extended Edit 5:12 Freemasons Club Vocal 7:06 Freemasons Club Dub 6:07 Static Revenger delivers an electro mix, it's good cuz it uses bits from the vocal here and there, so it disguises the crappy-ness from the original BUT, Freemasons HAS MADE THE SONG TOLERABLE!!! OMG!! Genious rework!!! They used elements from the original but the mix make the song totally different from the original! love the electro feel on the Dizzie Rascal verses, great job!

Freemasons did a solid job on the production, with the exception of some of the rhythm arrangements. Especially towards the very end, the last section of beats before the outro is a 12-count, and then a 16-count (as opposed to the typical 32/32) which is baffling to me. I suspect a lot of DJ's playing this out at the club will be thrown off by the odd rhythm and screw up their segues into the next song, unless they really know what they're doing. I don't know why Freemasons would intentionally do this on purpose, something that's so NOT DJ-friendly. Other than that a very classy consistant mix from them.

I've only heard the edit so far. It's still hard for me to take this song...seriously, for lack of a better word. I wouldn't necessarily say the mix is overly creative, but it certainly fits the song well.
I think I might enjoy the club dub more, or even the club mix if it has some longer instrumental sections. Definitely hoping those mixes are sans Rascal...
