Clear Channel stations (well, my Active Rock station at least) are doing a giveaway where the 100th nationwide caller wins $100,000. My question is, how does each station air the cue to call at the same time? (Or do they?) Whenever the cue has come on my station, it's right after a song ends, but I would imagine the other stations have songs running at different times, and therefore air the cue at different times.

WFLZ (as well as the former WSSR) would sometimes cut right into the middle of a song to air the cue to call. Maybe some stations are able to time out the songs to air the cue at the correct time.

WXKS does it. I can remember the line in the part when they speak fast..."a person can only win once in a lifetime"...lol

Y100 calls it the "Tax Relief." Where you look for the song of the day (today was Coldplay - Clocks).

I've listened to different Clear Channel stations in the same cluster and I've noticed that one station may start the cue to call seconds after another station starts there. That sucks because if the station you listen to starts late, then you're already at a disadvantage. Another reason why nationwide contests suck (though I'll be a hyprocrite and say that I've tried to call and win $100K...who wouldn't?).

It depends on how they determine who the 100th nationwide caller is. They may end up dumping a certain number of calls before they even start counting to 100.

Edf85 once posted that he called a second time and got a lower number caller than the first time.

I'm straying a little bit off the subject...have any of you ever got through twice for the same contest? I once called in (a local contest) to win a prize. I was caller three the first time and I turned around and called again, this time being the correct caller.

One time I had to be caller 100, and I got through almost every 3rd call (I was very fast and had 2 phone lines), and I ended up being caller 100!!! :o

Something I found strange about CC's national contests: the sports and rock stations in CC Jackson's cluster are giving away a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, while the other ones are promoting a vacation getaway. All the stations do participate at the same time. So if you're the correct caller, are you given a choice of what prize you want?
