Okay, so I know I started talking about this elsewhere on the board, but I thought the topic deserved its own thread, seeing as how this is probably the #1 vault remix of all time for MJ fans (now that the Def Mix of Thriller has come out). Here's what got me to wondering: I started thinking....could it be that Tony Moran never actually remixed this song after all, and what fans just assumed was his mix was in fact done by Ronnie Ventura? Then again, when Epic put out those Australian tracklistings back in 2003, the mix of Billie Jean mentioned was I believe the TM mix, and not Ronnie's. So what gives? I went straight to the source and asked the A&R guy who commissioned all these fabulous remixes so many years ago, and he just told me today that both Ronnie V and Tony M did their own remix! So there's not one but TWO unreleased Billie Jean remixes us fans should be crying over not having *lol* The Ventura mix was included in the MJ Megaremix (see picture above) but the Tony Moran remix has never been released in any form, and I'm trying to find out if it has ever been heard even by anyone! I hear rumors that NO ONE knows what became of his mix, since the label rejected it, and possibly even Tony himself has lost track of it after all these years? Anyone else wanna chime in? Has anyone actually heard TM spin live and throw down his own mix of Billie Jean? This is just such a fascinating topic to me not only as an MJ super-fan but also a remix collector and archivist :) Thoughts everyone?

Ahh, this topic gets posted annually. I thought I wrote a response earlier, but guess I clicked close instead of post. This thread is probably more suited for Rico's as there are more MJ collectors/fans who read there, but anyhow...
The Billie Jean mixes didn't get approved. For the most part, anything unreleased on the Remix front from that era, was not approved and usually for a reason, i.e. wasn't that good. Tony's "Billie Jean" and Danny Tenaglia's "Thriller" are probably the most famous unreleased mixes, both were rejected, and from what I've heard neither Remixers can find their original copies. The only way these will ever make it out is if Epic/Legacy decide to raid the vaults like they did for the 15th Anniversary for Thriller (which at this stage is very unlikely). It was nice that Georgie Porgie's mixes were finally released, but in all honesty they weren't very good and sound very very dated.
Now that the acapella is out there tons of Remixes get done. LTI did a nice one for DMC, Riffs & Rays did a pretty sweet update too, Illicit did an awesome mashup with Roger Sanchez "Another Chance" and Matthew Bushwacka! did an absolutely brilliant 10 minute homage that is just pure genius. But at the end of the day you are also talking about (IMO) remixing one of the greatest tracks of all time, and nothing is likely to match.
BTW, Tommy Musto was slated to do "Shake Your Body" - no idea if it ever got done or completed.

Ahh, this topic gets posted annually. You know, I thought so too, but I did an in-depth search of both Reeko's bored and Pulse, and no results came up!

Mystery solved. Here's what Ronnie told me about the Billie Jean remix used in the Megaremix:
There was never a full length of the Billie Jean, I just did the piece for the mega mix but never did a full length so I'm sorry to say it doesn't exist. I wish I had cause many have asked for it :(
