Released in 1984 from the album Fragile. Produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. This has been covered by Robert Palmer and Mariah Carey, but IMO Cherrelle's version is still the best.

Such a jam. Released in 1984 from the album Fragile. Produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. This has been covered by Robert Palmer and Mariah Carey, but IMO Cherrelle's version is still the best. I agree; I like Palmer's a lot (and it's the first version I heard), but I still gotta give the edge to Cherrelle with this song.

I'll just echo the sentiments of giving Cherrelle the edge for my fav. version of this song (not surprising since it's the first), but yeah it's such a jam. Robert's is fire too (esp. the extended dance version of his) and I can even tolerate Mariah's version of it lmao.

This had a strange video:
Hit #6 Dance, #8 R&B, and #79 Pop.

Love it. Like Robert's too, but it's not even close. Mariah's is alright, but it's such a copy that it's pointless.

I like it, but I much prefer Robert's version because that was the one I had listened to first. In fact, I actually thought it was originally sung by him.

I tended to hear this on old school mixes on WGCI or V103 or on an 80s R&B/Dance internet stations that I used to listen to. I actually prefer Robert Palmer's cover (the dance extended version) over Cherrelle's original. Also, I prefer other Cherrelle songs like "You Look Good To Me" and "Saturday Love" (w/Alexander O'Neal).

I know I had originally said that I love Robert Palmer's cover more because I was so used to hearing his version, but now I love Cherrelle's version just as much! It's now one of my faves from her.
