Here's how I think the rest of Q4 for Kelly will go, and this is really preliminary. I think that WDKY will be promoted in some form, if not entirely released. She could do it on the X Factor right before Christmas to get the ball rolling, perform it and MKIA on VH1 Divas, and presumably she'll be doing more than one song at Jingle Ball (?) so she could squeeze that in. Not releasing WDKY now, while personally I think it's a mistake, could prolong MKIA's sales and possibly increase Stronger 's longevity. Perhaps, since MKIA and WDKY are the only sure-fire hits (I'm saying this only because MKIA was already a hit, not because it warrants any more success than any other song), RCA thinks they should be the two to carry the era. I also think the WDKY video will be exactly the way ƒreakshow described it. ;) While I know that some people won't be happy with that, it could still be monumental, especially if the dance becomes big or commonplace. I'd love for Kelly to also be known for her Dancelly side I'm not looking for Kelly to be the BIG STAR she was during the Breakaway era, but she can definitely establish herself in the beginning of this upcoming year as a threatening pop force if RCA plays the right cards at the right time. But hey, being famous isn't what Kelly's looking for, so it's selfish for me to want that from her.

Yea, I'm pretty sure that's what we're going to get I will be absoultely beyond pressed if Dark Side is in fact the 3rd single and we get a piece of shit video. I have high expectations for it and believe it should be at the same level as BTHE...

I don't know if it's just me, but Darkside sounds so dated, radio-wise. I don't think it'd do much better than MKIA, and being that it's not the 1st single, it probably wouldn't even do as well as MKIA ended up doing.

I don't think that WDKY is going to need as big of a push with promo as MKIA did, but she definitely still needs to be promoting it and it scares me that she won't perform it at anything big.

tcornolo from the Express is at the AMA rehearsals right now and Kelly is rehearsing. This is what he's said so far...
SPOILERS AHEAD!!
Lots of large flash like fixtures on stage with bulbs inside. Camera cutouts. MKIA is being played. 8 male dancers that will most likely be in suits and top hats from what their dancing looked like. Imagine MKIA vaudeville/big band production!!! Initially bummed it wasn't WDKY but SSSUUUUUPEEER excited for this performance now!!! Band going on stage now!
SPOILER!
Horns on stage!! Einar playing upright bass! Band is all up on an elevated stage behind her. Lots of room for dancers! She is sitting in her seat down front! Trying not to freak out! Haha

This is an article I found. I thought I'd just copy and paste it seeing as something is completely wrong with my computer It's a short article about Kelly Clarkson's input on "girl-next-door pop" that maybe some of you will find interesting, or otherwise. Maybe you'll enjoy: Some critics use the terminology of “before Since U Been Gone” and “after Since U Been Gone”, which in many ways is a testimony to the success of the song. I would argue that Clarkson’s success with this song actually marked the ending of girl-next-door pop. Anything after Kelly’s smash single would be a rehash, overshadowed, and compared to the much bigger and overall more influential song. At the same time, without Since U Been Gone, that kind of music would’ve died out quickly--- Kelly Clarkson’s radio dominance between 2004-2006 was actually what propelled that music into the forefront of airplay and sales. Now, if we look at Breakaway as 2004’s equivalent of Adele’s 21, and Clarkson’s dominance the equivalent of Adele’s current status at the top of the charts, Adele would be marking the end of her kind of music. It’s a sad but perhaps true sentiment. Any album Adele releases after 21 will be compared to the platinum-selling hit, and any album remotely similar to Adele’s will be most likely not as successful nor regarded quite as highly. Adele said quite eloquently herself when compared to Amy Winehouse that “we’re a gender, not a genre”. If this is true, then is the authentic woman figure in music dying out? Kelly Clarkson, while as a whole still relevant (she recently had a top ten hit, Mr. Know It All), has peaked and will not emulate that level of dominance. Christina Aguilera’s career has been floundering for years (her appearance on #1 hit Moves Like Jagger was not substantial in comparison to her past hits), and Avril Lavigne’s last album opened with less than 90,000 copies sold in its first week (for reference, all of Kelly Clarkson’s albums have opened above 160,000 sold, and Adele’s most recent album opened with over 300,000). While it’s possible someone new will come up in the industry like Lady GaGa and Adele did, it would be more advantageous for them to search in markets like the Katy Perry dance route, or the Nicki Minaj girl-rap style. I’m not saying the end of girl-next-door pop is necessarily a bad thing. Songs like Since U Been Gone and Sk8r Boi by Avril Lavigne could become painfully immature (for example, on Clarkson’s new album, which is sonically and lyrically more mature, she still has the lyric “dumb plus dumb equals you”). But in essence, the idea that we look in pop stars for larger-than-life characters, those that seem to only exist in story books, speaks perhaps to a desire to pretend we’re something we’re not. Lady Gaga may sing songs like Born this Way, written about empowerment and knowing who you are, but when will we finally accept that we are the Kelly Clarkson’s and the Adele’s? These are the pop stars that are not stick thin, nor flaunting the fact that they aren’t. They simply are who they are, without making a big show about being unique. If a pop star begins to brag about how real they are, they are fake. Perhaps the “death of girl-next-door pop” isn’t accurate. Maybe it’s the death of the desire to just be the girl-next-door. Perhaps as a culture we can’t be comfortable with not being extraordinary. It will be interesting when the day comes that being “unique” isn’t unique anymore.

I'm still holding out hope for a MKIA/WDKY medley at the AMAs tomorrow. With the WDKY video being filmed and the releasing of the song to radio in Australia (and presumably in the US soon), I find it puzzling that they would not use the AMAs as a launchpad for the song. It's important that they get the song out there before Black Friday . . . assuming that they want to sell the album that is.

I guess I'm happy they're doing something different with the performance than just Kelly singing, it sounds like it'll be cool. Anything that shows Kelly off in a positive light to viewers will be good.

from tcornolo...
I recorded three audios of all her run throughs! Sounded AMAZING! Got my stronger booklet signed! Got a picture! Super nice of course as always. Said she filmed WDKY yesterday and is super tired today. I'm still shaking from it all. I hope you guys liked my updates! Wanted to give back and to my part as a Kelly fan for all the years I've been on here! Said they were considering adding another radio city date since the one sold out so fast.

The only positive I've seen of her performing MKIA is that it may prolong the era, as bb said. Otherwise, releasing WDKY right now may cut it short. I'm still concerned the interest in the album may dwindle but I have all the faith in the world WDKY will bring it up in the spotlight.
As for her sitting next to Chris Brown and Joe Jonas--it's good in that she'll probably get plenty of shots from the camera. Ironic in that she's such a symbol for female empowerment and Chris beat up a girl.
In regards to the video for WDKY--I'm not in the least excited to see her videos anymore or have high expectations for them. Her videos have lost a tremendous amount of quality since the BA era and NA. I expect something decent but nothing extraordinary. :/

If they do MKIA in a new way then at least the performance will still be fresh but it will do nothing for the album or song, I am afraid. Hope to be proven wrong.

This might be the kind of performance Kelly needs...after hearing that I have high hopes who knows if the performance is good enough it could give MKIA another life.

Not performing WDKY isn't the end of the world, just possibly the end of this era. Not much difference to me. lol, go jump off a bridge then son.

-The intro of "Extra, extra Kelly Clarkson- at odds with her label, creative differences.....Kelly Clarkson- is she gay, is she straight, why is she still single, this just in: Kelly Clarkson is releasing a new album- is it country, is it pop, is it rock...when will she make up her mind ?" -Although the intro quite surprised me, I really like the jazzy/big band-esque take on 'Know', especially the end of the second verse "cuz I'm living my truth without your lies, baby....". I LOL'ed Kelly stops the performance just before the bridge and big "yeahhhh" because the vocal sounded distorted in her ears. This performance is going to be interesting to say the least..... Do we know anything about tonight's animal charity concert in LA ?

Oh yea. I'm new here. I have been lurking around here as a guest for some time then saw i could become a full member... What's up. I think I'm pretty cool haha.
Anyway, I have been obsessed with Kelly foreverrrrrr. And I love that I have favorite songs from pretty much every album... my top 5 songs by her (in no particular order): Sober, Addicted, All I Ever Wanted, Dark Side, Let Me Down.
Let Me Down is my all time favorite... the lyrics, the sound, everything is just what I personally LOVE in a song. Plus it's pretty relatable for me...
I am trying to go to the STL show, I go to school sorta near there. My mom might go with me. My boyfriend hates Kelly with a passion so he won't but I'm thinking about forcing him to go... I make him listen to me sing her songs on the guitar. I'm that ridiculous.
Anyway, AMA... Yea, it'll be interesting. It could be good. Maybe Kelly wants to push Mr.KIA too, not just RCA? They better have something massive planned for WDKY...

I know. I am in love with Kelly and she just seems like the nicest person ever. The interviews I see with her make me so happy!! Always!! Such an amazing personality and so easy to love.
I can't wait until WDKY is blasting up the radio. I didn't like it the first time I heard it, but now I love it.
Oh, thanks for the welcome. I like it here, even though you guys know way more about everything music than I do haha. I'm just an avid fan.

I doubt I will even watch the AMAs now. Kelly was like, one of the few people I was interested in watching and I am over her performing MKIA. I hope she does well though which I am sure she will. I also hope she is able to stand out in a BIG way to get a huge boost against the other 25 or so performers.

I don't even know what to say. I can't IMAGINE what they're going to be doing promo-wise from here on out. Maybe management knows what they're doing, but this seems like a massive wasted opportunity and muddles the rest of Q4 in my opinion.
If the AMA's were a month earlier, sure. Go ahead. But this markets MKIA as still her single and therefore makes it difficult to hop on the WDKY train and promote it on X Factor and Divas. Hmm. I'm going to be optimistic and hope that they know what they're doing. If we get a MKIA performance on X Factor, Divas, and Jingle Ball but no WDKY, I quit.

We don't even know when she will be on X-Factor.... She hasn't been on SNL yet, and i'm sure she will be (TWO songs on there)... Divas is about "soul" or something this year. She might not perform MKIA or WDKY on that... The Jingle Ball's are concerts...won't she perform more than one song?...

She's the only performer I'm looking forward to watching tonight.
And Kelly fans, rather than over analyze and worry, just enjoy the album and the era. Don't take the fun out of it!
