I hate that Vh1 feels the need to auto tune the unplugged performances. Really? The whole point is to show natural talent, and auto tune completely takes away from that.

RCA is about as dumb as they come but we all know this. I would love it if they were just messing with us but that would be too good to be true. They are bound and determined to stop this era before it ever gets a chance to take off. The Stronger era may forever be known as the "what could have been" era where we all lament about how WDKY should have been the lead single or at the very least she should have begun promoting it at the 2011 AMA awards. I hope to God I am wrong. If she wastes all her upcoming promo on MKIA then I will just die. They don't deserve any success if they want to be that stupid. Look around RCA, do you see Rihanna sitting on singles for months even when they are huge hits? NO! Pop fans are indeed fickle and they always want more. Give it to them or they move on to someone who will. Learn this, you will benefit immensely.

What if, and this is a huge fucking what if, they listed MKIA because it is in fact the segway into WDKY, so they just listed it since she's performing it ~first? Would the description really say, "Kelly Clarkson doing a medley of her songs," if that's what really is planned?
Now this could be me being completely optimistic and denying the horribly inevitable, but that could be possible, no?

#1 -- The people that run her site are known idiots. Wasn't 'Already Gone' listed as 'Never Gone' on one of the interior pages of that site recently? It's entirely possible that someone was told to post about the performance and just took a guess. At least that's what I'm telling myself.
#2 -- To those that say we aren't the experts and don't have the data that KC's team does and ya ya ya: enjoy floating down the river DENIAL. It's not rocket science (pun intended) that 'Know' is finished. At best, the performance gives it a bump on iTunes and she, maybe, peaks at 7 or 8 on the Hot100. Meanwhile, 'Kill' is slowly gaining organic buzz from several directions. The Camry commercial alone is piquing the interest of so many.
Finally, there is much to glean from what casual music lovers say about tracks. We can't get caught up in our own opinions when trying to assess potential hits. We are KC's biggest fans; we will (generally) love most of her tunes and certainly - at the very least - hope for their success.
The AMAs aren't about the awards...like, at all. They are all about the performances and 'wow' moments. Who cares about this so-called holiday 'freeze' on radio. People are still purchasing songs through iTunes, and a great launch pad performance of 'Kill' on the AMAs could propel not only single, but album sales, as well. They could use the Camry commercial + AMAs + X-factor + iTunes to keep the song on people's radar until the new year, and then hit radio hard then.
Apologies for the rambling and (semi) apologies to those that will view this as a sassy, jaded post. I just want the best for my favorite artist, and it bums me out when so much potential gets squandered. Hell, I'm still hoping this is either an oversight or joke and that she will perform 'Kill' on Sunday.

If I had to bet, I also would say the probability of 'Know' to 'Kill' medley is higher than 'Know' by itself. I honestly think we are all going to be floored. Like freakshow, I also watched the Unplugged performances for the first time tonight as their aired on television. I was very impressed with 'Know', 'Darkside' (especially the bridge *chills*) and for most of 'Kill', where I feel her voice sounded a bit tired, so it wasn't perfect but it was pretty da*n good. I completely see how 'Kill' is a b*tch to sing, but I am surprised that she sings 'You Love Me' so well, because that song's chorus is so bloody high, that probably NO other mainstream gal could pull that song off, except for probably Beyonce. Finally, the fans from this forum should be ultra-thankful that we are seeing Kelly in such high profile spots (regardless of what she sings): iHeartRadio, AMAs, VH1 Unplugged, VH1 Divas, X Factor US, plus all the HUGE worldwide performance spots. I don't recall seeing this much Kelly media since the 'Breakaway' area. |

Yea, I agree that a surprise medley is most liking going to happen. I don't get why there would be dancers for MKIA. I would actually love the medley, since I enjoy MKIA for a good minute and lose interest halfway through. Hopefully it can help get its sales to platinum, and introduce Stronger to a wider audience.
If RCA does choose to stick with MKIA, they are truly the idiots we've grown to hate over the years. Doing MKIA/Stronger would show casual music buyers two sides of the album, and hopefully give her a nice boost for BlackFriday. God I hope RCA doesn't drop the ball with this one. Its one of the biggest awards shows in the upcoming months, and a great chance to get some momentum back.

Zzzzz. It's not the end of the world that she misses the golden opportunity to perform WDKY on the AMAs though. I just hope that they won't be stupid enough to really push the adds date to December/next year. That would seriously kill the album.

Kelly did say she wanted to collaborate with Chris Brown a while back so she may not feel the same way about him that some of us do. This was before his personality problems, so maybe she's changed her mind since.

Unplugged was a great show and I appreciated the couple minutes of Kelly talking. Too bad there weren't any Toyota commercials. I would've like seeing them instead of the vibrator commercials at least. What's really strange was that I turned on the radio when the show ended and Since U Been Gone was on!

I was a bit disappointed that Mr. Know It All was kinda like that but I think it worked with the newspaper headlines and the song just kind of told its own story. But I'm going to be disappointed if they do a plotless video AGAIN. |
