While WDKY probably would have got more of a boost because of its "newness," it's important to also point out that none of the performer's songs seem to have received huge boosts. As for bb, your response is perfectly valid. My final line was more in jest than the rest of the post, and your "newness" doesn't render your opinion or posts any less worthy. In fact, your Pulse introduction rivals Touch the Fire Twice's in terms of quality, so no need to worry on that front. I'm just glad that there's so much to enjoy and discuss this era. <3 And I agree, I like you too bb! You are a quality poster, and on a side note, I love your name because "b-b" is the pet nickname I call my closest friends, corny as that may sound. I also agree that we have a lot to enjoy this era. I may not be happy with every decision but the album is stellar and she's been doing a lot more promo than she did for the last two eras...possibly combined. So overall my gripes are are just little drops in a bucket. These expectations/predictions/estimations/whatever sound extremely lofty. The performance can only help, but that much? Top ten for the entire month? I highly doubt that. Let's have some fun: 'Kill' is now at #65 on iTunes USA, Where do you think 'Kill' will peak post-X Factor performance ? Hmm...I'll guess it will peak in the top 10. But I wouldn't expect it to stay there more than a few days at best (probably just a day or so). |

Happy 500th page y'all.
Now the hysteria has dimmed on the AMA performance, I'm going to add my two cents of constructive criticism.
They got an A for effort and a B for execution, and I completely enjoyed the whole thing. I do think it could have been improved. I think she should have been up at the front of the stage with one of those old fashioned mics on a stand though and built the performance AROUND her rather than sort of with her/not really with her. I do think she had some charm about her, but I think she would have been able to focus on that charm and vocal more if she was still behind the stand. I also think she was lacking in the conviction and confidence she had for 'Stuff Like There' (which was essentially the same genre of performance) and that might be an age thing or a nerves thing or whatever, but again I think it all lies around the fact that she had a radio mic she had to hold and marks to hit around the stage. Still, she's still got that sparkle that we don't see as much these days and I was happy to see it.
I also think if they were going to go with a high production 'themed' performance, they should have gone with a gospel version of Mr. Know It All. Acapella intro, big ol choir, hand claps, the works. The harmonies and vocal production on the original track actually do feel quite churchy to me at times. I think if they'd done that, it would have suited the original more, and allowed Kelly to wail and adlib, kind of like she did on that Idol Christmas special from way back when. Just a thought anyway.
Also I think the reason she didn't get a standing O from the celebs and 'most everyone else did is because she's not one of them. She doesn't roll in the same circles, she all but shuns the parties and showbiz lifestyles they are all apart of, she doesn't know any of them socially and thus they don't really owe her any support. That's not how things should be, I get that, but that's my reading of the situation. It certainly wasn't because hers was the only performance that didn't warrant one.

The band and I recorded different versions of new and old "Kelly Clarkson" songs for a special ITunes package. It was a lot of fun! We also put a Christmas song on there as well. I can't wait to make a Christmas album. It was such a tease |
