That version of WDKY was also lowered a half step. The note on "stronger" as the chorus begins is a B4, not a C5. It's not a hugely significant change, but it probably makes the whole thing a lot more attainable. She does the same thing with SUBG. It sounds amazing.
And yeah, she's looking FANTASTIC.

I'm watching now, and of course she sounds incredible, but also really tired. Do you think maybe she's wearing herself down a bit? Especially on some of her older, more vocally demanding songs like "Behind These Hazel Eyes" and "Walk Away", her voice is rougher and she skips some higher parts. It could be that she's trying to preserve her vocals, but these constant Jingle Balls might be a lot for her.
Since we've had such an impeccable two years of perfect vocals, I hope she takes a much-needed break over the holidays. She's promoting like a mad-woman. I'm looking forward to seeing her come back in January, refreshed and ready to nail these songs like they're a walk in the park.

She definitely sounded tired, but she still was AMAZING... especially coming after Joe Jonas whom I painstakingly endured. Only two more days until I see her myself for the very first time! She better perform "Dark Side" though...

I know I'm hella late, but I didn't make a track-by-track review of Stronger at first because it takes awhile to let albums sink in. Now that it has, here it is! :)
1. Mr. Know It All – I’ll forever think of this as a “grower” song. I really didn’t care for this at first and thought it was pretty bland. Then, it snuck up on me and now I love it. I’m also glad it was the first single because, like Kelly said, it was unexpected (for her at least). A 2. What Doesn’t Kill You (Stronger) – You could call this My Life Would Suck… part II, BUT this song is strong enough to stand on it’s on. A pure dance-pop-rock anthem. Will be a big hit. A+ 3. Dark Side – This song is highlight lyrically by going back to darker Kelly. The music box intro and slight electronic production make this a highlight. A- 4. Honestly – My personal favorite, due to my relation to the lyrics. The “You can tell me” part really shows her emotion. I feel ya girl. A+ 5. You Love Me – Ohai, 80’s Kelly. I like you, but this song isn’t one of my favorites. B- 6. Einstein – Kind of a jam. Musically, it’s kind of pop-rock mixed with urban. I think it’s a strong song if not a bit cliché. The Dumb + Dumb = You line isn’t brilliant lyricism, but I don’t necessarily cringe when I hear it, either. B 7. Standing in Front of You – This is a beautiful song. It wasn’t one of my favorites initially, but it’s really grown on me. “You can close your eyes don’t worry, I’ll still be here in the morning” is probably my favorite lyric on the album. A 8. I Forgive You – Wow, this is NOT typical Darkchild fare. This is one of the catchiest songs on the album. The lyrics are so sarcastic, it’s great. It does tend to be a bit overrated though. B+ 9. Hello – Not one of my favorites. It’s got a different, more optimistic sound compared to the album. B- 10. The War is Over – I LOVE this. Musically, it’s similar to Already Gone. The lyrics are very well written and the production is great. A+ 11. Let Me Down – Another pop-rock track with slight electronic production, it really works well on this track. Not to mention the chorus is yet another that you can’t resist singing at the top of your lungs. A 12. You Can’t Win – Initially one of my favorites because the lyrics are so true and they are delivered by Kelly with such sass. While this has grown off me a bit, I still think it’s a great track. B 13. Breaking Your Own Heart – This was another one of my initial favorites that I haven’t been paying as much attention to lately. It’s a great song, though. B- 14. Don’t You Wanna Stay – I had heard this maybe once on the radio before, and it didn’t really leave an impression on me. I’m not a fan of country music generally, but I can respect a good country song, and this song is definitely good. B- 15. Alone – 80’s Kelly is back once more! I really like this track. The production is fun, while the lyrics are about a failing relationship. B 16. Don’t Be a Girl About It – Simply for the fact I can think of at least three guys I know that this song could directly apply to I give Kelly mad props. The closest thing to dance-pop on here, although it’s still more pop-rock. Should have made the standard, although I don’t mind it being a bonus track as much as, say “Up N Down” from Femme Fatale. A+ 17. The Sun Will Rise – OK, not one bad song on the album so far, so how’s the closing track? It’s really great! One final ballad, Kelly is more optimistic, singing “When you’ve lost your light, the sun WILL rise.” On an album filled with failed relationships (although not really in the negative view point of them) and sarcasm, it’s nice to end on positive note lyrically. The one thing is I’d much rather hear Kelly sing the second verse than Kara. (Sorry, Kara.) A
Overall, I never thought I would love a Kelly album this much. While I’ve been a mild fan here-and-there, this is the first Kelly album I’ve LOVED. After releasing material like this, I finally see why she has such a huge stanbase on here. Not a bad song on the record, not even a meh song. All winners here! I couldn't bare to give a grade lower than a B- to any of the songs. Overall: Solid A.:)
My choice for singles: 1. Mr. Know It All 2. What Doesn't Kill You (Stronger) 3. The War Is Over 4. Dark Side or Let Me Down

She better perform "Dark Side" though... Did she not tonight? Yup. :( She sang it at the last Jingle Ball though. Love your review, but gurl, a B-? Only 4/17 songs got a grade that low. I believe he meant that he couldn't bare to give any songs off the album a rating lower than a B-.

^I did too, so I was rather surprised by that. Then I remembered that it is an airplay-only chart, and some of DYWS's longevity was due to AC and HAC airplay as well, which of course is not going to be reflected on the country chart. Now had it been a combination of country airplay and sales I believe DYWS would have easily been #1.
I was also (pleasantly) surprised by how well MKIA placed on its respective charts, considering it was released so late in the Billboard year.

Mr Know It All hits #1 on Hot AC this morning! This could be at #1 for a while, it's got a 192 bullet and it's about 500 spins ahead of the next song with a positive bullet heading into the holiday freeze. I really thought when this song came out, and especially when it rocketed up this chart into the top 10, that it was a guaranteed #1 or #2, but it seemed to stall out around #5 for a while before it got its second wind.

I'm really happy MKIA reached #1 on HAC. It would be nice to see it stay there until January.

Hahahaha...MKIA got a 3rd, 4th and even 5th wind on the Top 40 chart. Every time we'd think it was done, it would bounce back just enough to move up another spot or two. Now it's been stalled at #11 for awhile, and we're hoping it gets one last wind to move up into the top 10. What a funny run this song has had on pop radio.

Thanks for the great and detailed review Heartbreak On Vinyl! It's great to hear from a non stan and find that they are feeling the same about this great album as many of the major stans. Courtesy Good Listener at the KCE...

DYWS is #2 for the year on country radio, is it not? It was #1 for a while and then Thompson Square passed them up. I can't imagine any more songs would have passed them because they wouldn't have had enough months of airplay to catch up. I am really shocked by that. They must use something other than spins to calculate that chart, how can the #2 song of the year on country radio be #19 on Hot Country Songs?

Love your review, but gurl, a B-? Only 4/17 songs got a grade that low. OMG, sorry, that was bad wording. I meant I couldn't give a grade lower than a B- for an individual song because all the songs were so good, I didn't mean the whole album was a B-. I give the album a solid A. :)
