Yeah and what I find strange is someone like alanis who has not been relevant in a mainstream sense for a decade can still open top 5 and no. 1 worldwide and Nelly can't do top ?? Why has one been able to create a loyal fan base and other not. I don't understand as I'm a fan of both these women. You right!! And Alanis last album is not so good, boring and always the same sound! Nelly is always creative!!

Is Nelly doing well anywhere in the world? How is she doing in Europe?

I really love this album, I just wish the single choices and promotional strategy had been better.
I have to listen to it for a while, but I think it's her best album to date!
Favorites include: Believers (Arab Spring), Waiting for the Night, Miracles, Enemy, High Life, Spirit Indestructible.

Billboard isn't even giving a projection for this.

As Nelly herself said, she has sort of had to completely find a new fan base with every album because they are all so unique and different. This is something she has no problem in doing. Alanis on the other hand has completely stuck to one solid sound and has never really experimented outside of the box. I'd say that's the reason Alanis has such a strong, loyal following while Nelly unfortunately does not.

I think it's all very well and good saying she has such a unique uncommercial sound, but there is no good reason on God's earth this should be selling so low it doesn't even get a projection.
And while we're at it, brilliant as I think this album is, I don't think it's as left-field and niche as people are making out. It's got the zany/offbeat thread throughout, sure, but that's present throughout all of Nelly's work...but essentially it's a rhythmic pop album. Good management and proper handling from the label should have made this thing fly.

I agree with all of this except I would say that Alanis has some die hard fans from when she was huge with Jagged Little Pill and she gained a different set when she completely changed at the turn of the decade.

I listened to the bonus tracks on Spotify and found them just okay, so I bought the standard version.
I almost feel like I'm not listening to a Nelly Furtado record when I listen to this though. It's so different from anything she's done and her vocal stylings are more varied and extreme than in the past. It's my favorite of all the new stuff coming out though, with P!nk's as a close second for all sorts of different reasons.

They didn't have this at Wal-Mart. :( Yet they had like five copies of her greatest hits. I'm planning to go to Target soon, so I'll hopefully be able to get it there.

I seriously don't get it. How come this doesn't even have a projection? One would have guessed that even if with such a bad handling from her label and bad single choices and different sound she would still have some core fanbase leftovers from Loose? Ugh.

I can't stop listening to this. Although her label screwed up the singles BIG TIME, I don't think they truly represent the artistry and excellence of the album. If people knew, I think they'd buy.

This will go down as one of the most flagrantly mishandled projects in the past decade.

I was explaining this to a friend who didn't know she'd released any singles...it's absolutely ridiculous how the era has been handled. The planning here defies all logic. Release a single in April and schedule the album for June. Single flops, album pushed back till September. Then....wait till September to release a follow-up (in the States?) YEAH THAT'S BOUND TO PUSH SALES.

This will go down as one of the most flagrantly mishandled projects in the past decade. At least people were aware that Bionic came out/existed. This is so bad it was forgotten before it was even released.

I've had a quick look through other iTunes album positions, it's doing poorly everywhere.
I'm quite shocked Loose didn't get her to at LEAST Top 15 in most countries. We knew it was gonna flop due to the lack of ANYONE knowing it's even out. I think it's going to really struggle 75k worldwide this week.
It's #40 in the UK mid-weeks (about 2,000 copies going by last week).
I feel terrible for her. But it's a great album and is getting a good reaction everywhere I've seen so hopefully it'll be a slow seller?

Her complete lack of airplay is to blame.

Her album was terribly mishandled. It's a really good album, that's what makes it even worse. It's very puzzling that they didn't even forecast what her album could do.

It's really not surprising that this is doing so poorly. The music is not commercial and Nelly has reinvented her sound so much that the 2 million people who bought "Loose" are definitely not checking for this.
Even in 2006, it was like she was just a pretty face to be a vehicle for Timbaland. Besides super fans, I don't think she has much of a core following at all.

This is doing poorly because of zero promo and horrible singles. The sound isn't as out there as you all keep saying it is, some of it would work very well on radio. ... It's just that Nelly's people can't seem to figure out which songs those are :'(

I cant at the possibility of this peaking lower than Folklore. She really is the most unstable artist ever as far as commercial success goes.
There really is no stand-out single though. The only song that could make a splash as a lead single is Parking Lot. At least it's getting released now but it might be too late.
The album is currently my 3rd favorite of the year behind Electra Heart and Born To Die.

They should've led with "High Life." The hook of "Laaaaaaaa la la la la, la la la la, la la la laaaaaaaaaaa laaa" would've resonated with people who chant along to Ke$ha and GaGa.
