How often are people really doing that unless they are truck drivers or traveling sales people? or have commutes to work longer than 10 minutes Really? I've never known a full length album to be 10 minutes long. If you're lucky that might get you through the three good songs you do like.

So let's do the math
Your commute is 25 minutes or longer(quite common in a big city)
You drive to work, you drive home. You just listened to the whole CD

I'm extremely critical of music in general. I've always been a singles person. Not because it can be a hit or not but because I think that's how music should be listened to in general. I've never believed in albums as a whole. So my opinion on this matter shouldn't be shocking. I'd rather listen to a mixtape of different artists than listen to a full length album from the same artist....even when it comes to my favorite artists. Most of the people you all think had great full length albums I can go through and find at least half if not more of it that I don't like than do like...hits or not hits.
I find that most of the albums released are full of filler...even during the 90's. My opinions haven't changed about albums in general. I've always questioned why buy an album.

Or let's say your commute is 10 minutes, like the original example, if you are in the car longer than 45 minutes in a day (likely) then you just listened to the whole CD

I just don't believe I have to accept every song that's fed to me even if it's my favorite artist in the world. People think you have to have an album to tell a story. You can do that with a song...or you don't have to do that with a song. You can make music just because you think it sounds good. For me that's the most important thing. Sound is the most important thing. I really couldn't care less about what's being said or not said.

It doesn't even have to be your facorite artist. I can go on all day about artists that were not necessarily my favorite that put out albums with more than 3 good songs on them. Personal choice in liking these albums just as much as it is personal choice to limit your taste to 3 songs per CD

It's taking off at Urban and Urban AC now and the video just came out. Thank you!!

I respect your opinion, but to me, listening to an amazing album is an exponentially better experience than listening to a mixtape or just listening to a few good tracks. I do agree that lots, if not most, albums have a lot of material that I don't care for. But over the years I have found perhaps 100 or so albums that I can play from start to finish and feel enriched because of it. A great album is so much more than the sum of its parts. Albums don't necessarily have to tell a story, but they do submerge you in a world of music. They set a certain musical mood, perhaps have a particular theme, or sometimes jerk you back and forth to incredible extremes. But either way, I can't imagine living without albums, and even though album sales are in the toilet these days, I'd much rather buy a quality album that buy a collection of singles. I'm not at all saying you're wrong and I'm right by any means, just expressing my love for great albums.

Rihanna will have three songs in the Top 20 in a couple of days. Looks like "Love the Way You Lie" is going to be the song that leaves the top 20 in order to make room for "What's My Name?" so not sure that she'll have 3 in the top 20.

Is "All I Want For Christmas" the highest holiday track at the moment? Once holiday airplay starts kicking in, it usually competes with "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" and a few others.

I've always questioned why buy an album. for people whove been wondering, these are the kind of people that still buy the now thats what i call music series (not saying you in paticular)

I do agree that lots, if not most, albums have a lot of material that I don't care for. x2 with what 2m said. And personally I am writing a research paper right now. When I do homework I pop a CD in and listen to it while I'm doing my work. *jamming to Miranda Lambert's Revolution right now* And your way of thinking is why album sales are so low now. Albums use to tell a story, people listened to every track, now a days you like 3-4 songs and the rest are usually garbage and you end up just buying the songs you like. I have never listened to every track on an album. I simply don't have time for it. I like to listen to music but I simply don't have time to listen to the albums from start to finish especially when I have never liked every song on an album and there has only been one album where I have liked every single song on it. People have other competing entertainment interests as well. So if you spend all of your time listening to albums you have to cut off those. News flash albums always only had three good tracks on them....if that. That's nothing new. Most albums don't even have that. So...if I may ask, you have NEVER owned an album and liked the whole thing? I can understand, sort of, where you are coming from, that lots of albums do have filler, but there are fantastic whole CDs out there. Maybe your stance on this is related to the genre of music you most often listen to? I find that, especially if it's an artist I really dig, I will listen to the entire album for a while. After I begin to get used to it, the faves begin to sort themselves out. If I think an album only has a few good tracks, I'll probably just cherry-pick them on iTunes or whatever.

Take Janet Jackson for instance. My favorite album of all time is her Rhythm Nation 1814. However, even that one has 2 or three tracks that I would consider filler.

Another #1 for Rihanna: www.billboard.com/#/news/rihanna-s-what-s-my-name-rockets-to-no-1-1004125986.story?tag=hpfeedRihanna's 'What's My Name?' Rockets to No. 1 on Hot 100Rihanna rockets to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 to be released tomorrow (Nov. 11), as "What's My Name?," featuring Drake, vaults 60-1. The song debuts at No. 1 on Digital Songs with sales of 235,000, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It claims Airplay Gainer honors on Radio Songs, charging 24-16 (48.6 million in audience, up 30%, according to Nielsen BDS). "What's My Name?" supplants Ke$ha's "We R Who We R," which dips to No. 5 after launching atop the survey last week. The song falls 1-2 on Digital Songs (220,000, down 21%), though it advances 49-29 (35.3 million, up 45%) on Radio Songs. Nos. 2 through 4 remain static on the Hot 100 from last week: Far*East Movement's "Like a G6," featuring Cataracs & Dev (No. 2), Bruno Mars' "Just the Way You Are" (No. 3) and Rihanna's second track in the top five, "Only Girl (In the World)" (No. 5). Both Rihanna songs appear on her fifth studio album, "Loud," due Tuesday (Nov. 16). "What's My Name?" marks Rihanna's eighth career Hot 100 No. 1 and third this year. She previously reigned in 2010 with "Rude Boy" (five weeks, beginning in March) and as a guest on Eminem's "Love the Way You Lie" (seven weeks, starting in July). Rihanna is the first artist to score a trio of Hot 100 leaders in a year since she achieved the feat in 2008, when she ruled with her own "Take a Bow" and "Disturbia" and added vocals to T.I.'s "Live Your Life." "What's My Name?" is Drake's first Hot 100 No. 1 among 23 chart visits.

She's on pace to get over 20 in her career. :o Of course that's unlikely, but still possible.

^Yah, she's doing pretty well in that regard. In five years, she's had five albums and 8 Hot 100 No. 1 hits. She was a featured act on two of those ("Live Your Life" and "Love the Way You Lie").

LEGEND!!!!! Two top 5 hits on the Hot 100 simultaneously. I'm so pumped right now! And I suppose they meant OG is #4, since that was its position last week and they previously mentioned Ke$ha was #5.
