colson, RCA did not work any titles to radio. Ryan Seacrest premiered "Express" some weeks back. RCA said it would revisit working a single to radio after the movie was released. I was saying that, official release to radio or not, radio doesn't look like it's interested in playing Aguilera- which, given the performance of Bionic, isn't surprising.

Not sure what you think science means here, or what answer you're looking for? What I want to know is why the 1000 to 1 ratio and not any other ratio? What "science" did they use to get to that specific ratio? Why not, say, a 2000 to 1 ratio?

I'm pretty sure Duck Sauce is only being played on the VERY few dance stations there are in this country. If We No Speak Americano couldn't cross over successfully, I doubt Duck Sauce would have a chance in hell.

Probably b/c the audience impression reaches in the millions per week for a typical song while downloads only go up to the thousands per week. A 1000 to 1 ratio evens that out since one million is a thousand times larger than one thousand. A 2000 to 1 ratio doesn't make as much sense b/c a million isn't two thousand times larger than one thousand.

No matter what Billboard says the ratios are, it's not going to be that cut-and-dry for many titles, as some fare a lot better in airplay than sales, and vice versa. So, just follow the formula that's stated and let it be.

Considering the #1 song at airplay usually has about a 140 million audience and the #1 selling song has over 200k paid downloads, I'd say a 700 to 1 ratio would be fairer than 1000 to 1. What ratio do you prefer and why?

What ratio do you prefer and why? That's not true at all. 100million in audience is the same as 100k in sales. I fully support this logic because sales is a more accurate measure of popularity anyway....its effect is direct and not derivative. Radio could just be slow to react to a songs popularity whereas the sales effect is immediate.

The singles from Bionic were radio-friendly- and we saw what happened there. Perhaps she will score again at radio, but this definitely is a slump.

You lost me was not radio friendly. Ballads typically dont do well on chr anymore. Theres exceptions of course, but none of them are quite as slow and dull as you lost me.
Not Myself Tonight which i found good, and radio frriendly, i often heard the major lack of a real chorus is what turned people off.
her singles werent very radio friendly say what enrique or nelly came back with. not even close

"You Lost Me" may have been slow and dull, but it didn't stray that far from, say, "Hurt." Perhaps it was an error to release it in this climate of fewer ballads doing well.
I think it's a matter of whether or not the tracks are not as radio-friendly as others' tracks. After all, it's not like she released a track that was totally out of left field, sonically).
Anyhow, we'll see how she fares with the next, post-Burlesque album.
RE Michael Jackson's track- it had adds on Urban and Urban AC this week- maybe the airplay drop was due to the "8-day adjustment"?

Only Girl has hit #1. If you're referring to her tweet, I think she's talking about the pop songs chart...

hmm..now she's saying 9th #1, which wouldn't be for Pop Songs. Either she's confusing them or she knows she's got it. I assume her team has access to all the charts to tell, so maybe lol....

Indeed, because we all know a lot of commercial success a legend makes. :)
It's nice for acts to do well, and most acts I'm sure want to do well, but putting THAT much stock in the game known as the charts?

I'm fine with Rihanna getting it this week (if she does), but I really hope Pink and Katy can still get to #1 in the future.

If she is #1 this week, then congratulations.
Honestly Rihanna and her team have been brilliant in marketing this era for her.
I like how, instead of trying to bring new life to Rated R with a re release, they moved on to a whole new project. They ¨cleaned¨ her image of all the satanic/illuminati* undertones (not that I believe in any of that in the first place, but the public is gullible) and gave her radio friendly hits. They re introduce her to the public by her feature with Eminem (something Christina should do before her next album, a feature with the hot star of the moment would do her image and marketability good.... at least it did to Rihanna now, and Mariah).
GaGa, should really clean her image a little for her next era.
*For real, if I were Rihanna, GaGa, Jay-Z, Beyonce, et. al, I would consider suing the crap from that loon @ the vigilantcitizen.com
