I'm pulling for Robyn in this one! So am I. :) However, I do like all of the songs that got nominated. I have a feeling that the Rihanna song might end up winning though.

As I stated earlier, I'm definitely pulling for Robyn. But, I'd be ok if La Roux or Gaga take it. ANYBODY but Rihanna, though ......

I understand the disappointment with these categories, especially when Justin Timberlake and Rihanna usually end up winning. It's almost like they are giving it to them in this category because they gave it to someone else in another category that they were nominated. "Oh let's throw them a bone and give them one here." At least the songs in the Dance Recording category are ones that most of us have at least heard of or seen on charts/playlists/setlists, or even actually heard. There were some years where somewhat obscure, under-the-radar stuff got nominated. I don't really care all that much about the Grammys. While it's nice when some of my faves get nominated, and even win, but that's about it. Was Only Girl really nominated? ;) To an extent, I agree with your confusion/partial disgust. While I do like the song, it's just so-so. Wasnt the gaga song just an album track? Not even a single!? It was not released as a single. I guess this category extends to album tracks as well as singles.

I think it between Gaga and Robyn. Robyn may have the advantage because it was an actual single but idk

"Only Girl" is a commercial monster and the critical reception of the song has been largely positive.
Rihanna, easily.

^ Ironically, it's the weakest of the nominees IMO.

I voted for Rihanna, although I hope Lady Gaga wins every other category she was nominated in. I'm baffled at the song choice though, why on earth wouldn't she nominate something that people actually KNOW like Bad Romance, Telephone, or Alejandro....something that actually got airplay? Weird.

Dancing On My Own deserves this. The other tracks are just so weak in comparison. "Only Girl" is a commercial monster and the critical reception of the song has been largely positive. Rihanna, easily. on a pop market. None of your points have any kind of effect on the decisions made at the Grammy's, much less in this category, really.

I'm also going Robyn> I actually like Dance in the Dark better (IMO it's the best song on the CD) but it was never released as a single, no video. I understand she's on tour, and may not have the time to promote it or whatever, but this song should have been a single and there should have been a video.
But then everyone would just compare it to Vogue and talk more shit.

Which is why Katy Perry's been nominated for some of the biggest awards, right? I'd love for Goldfrapp to take it, but they won't. I'm a big fan of all the songs in the category, bar Dance In the Dark, which is just hideous. I think Rihanna's got a pretty good chance, the song hasn't been out that long at all and they managed to squeeze her in; I'd say that sends out a pretty clear message.

Robyn because she's been around for a while now and she's just getting better and better. Since she didn't win the Grammy a few years ago for best Dance Album, she's DUE at this point in time, and DOMO is a fantastic song.

Which is why Katy Perry's been nominated for some of the biggest awards, right? it's entirely possible she got nominated because the album is good. Does it deserve a nom? Well, it certainly got one so I'd say so. Does it deserve to win? I don't think so. The same goes for Rihanna. All I'm saying is that, when it comes to the final decision for the winner of the award (not the nominations, mind you,) those factors have very little to do with it.
