Years later? It's been less than 5 months and is in profit. It's been a success whether or not you want to admit it. But it's not in profits, that's the thing. It won't be in profits until at least a few more years with TV licensing and etc. And I like Christina, so it's not like I'm here trying to hate. If you want, I can do a cost breakdown of how movie cost and profits work. I've been following the industry for years so I know a thing or two.

It has grossed $90mil WW atm so around half of that goes back to the makers which is $45mil. Then add in the DVD sales which is $17.5mil in the US alone. So it should be around $55mil+ (as not all of the revenue of the DVDs will go directly back to the makers). Then adding in sales from the soundtrack it should be in profit. Then it is yet to be released to cinemas in 2 relatively big markets (Turkey + SK) and the DVD is yet to be released WW (it's out in the UK next week) so even if it isn't in profit atm, it should be very close to being so and will be very soon.

And let's not forget that there are a lot of merchandise that are released in the market in conjunction with Burlesque. Add in TV licensing to that and the movie will probably make a modest amount of money for the studio. I'm surprised at how well the DVD seems to be doing in the US.

Xtina's BF BELOW legal limit during DUI arrest!! Christina Aguilera's boyfriend Matt Rutler was NOT too drunk to drive on the morning he was arrested for DUI back in March -- and will not be charged with a crime ... TMZ has learned. The L.A. County District Attorney has officially rejected the case against Rutler -- citing insufficient evidence to prosecute for driving under the influence of alcohol. Law enforcement sources tell us ... Rulter's blood alcohol content was ultimately determined to be .06 at the time of his arrest ... which falls safely under California's legal limit to operate a vehicle, .08. As TMZ first reported, Aguilera was a passenger in the car that morning ... and was arrested for public drunkenness when officers determined she was too hammered to take care of herself. Hours after the arrest, officials decided they would not pursue any charges against the singer. www.tmz.com/2011/04/17/christina-aguilera-matthew-rutler-matt-rutler-dui-not-drunk-driving-boyfriend/

You are forgetting costs associated with marketing and promotion and distribution, which are usually $20-30 million for a film of this size.

Lol I also love all the psuedo science math equations people pull out. In the very beginning, people were determined that it had to make DOUBLE its production and promotion budget in order to make a profit. So, it had to make around 110 million in order to make a profit. This was stated as fact. Now that it has done that (Made 110+ in profit) all of a sudden it is NO not double...more than that! Should it be tripled now? It may even do that though so maybe let us make it quadruple-that should guarantee it, right? The Voice looks sort of boring to me to be honest. I wonder if there is even a market left for it since there are so many similar shows. AT least they have an interesting set of judges.

I'm actually excited for 'The Voice'. It looks very entertaining and I can't wait to see the group dynamics between Blake Shelton, CeeLo, Adam Levine and Christina. They all seem to play off eachother well, which is great.
Plus, I live for Blake's "Because he dresses like a peacock!"

OMG!!! from ALD :o :o Few days ago, I got the info about some of the tracks from Christina's "BIONIC" album were remixed (I'm not sure if these are new or old) by Bimbo Jones, Disco Tech and Ralphi Rosario/Rosabel. Ralphi/Abel remixed "Desnúdate", which would be AMAZING!!! I always wanted that song to be remixed, and I've LOVED what Ralphi has done with those song with a latin feel on it. :dancing: Does anybody know if these mixes were done recently? is there a Remix EP in the works? ANSWER: I've remixed Bobblehead btw (will put this on my soundcloud)... Desnudate - Ralphi Rosario(I've played the mix in W magazine's party) Glam - DiscoTech Vanity - Bimbo Jones Bionic - Nadastrom Other remixes also done by Tom Neville and Gareth Wyn... All done for Hed Kandi. I can confirm SUBSKRPT remixes of "Bobblehead" and Nadastrom remixes of "Bionic" as well. Sticky K "Elastic Love" Gareth Wyn remixed Not Myself Tonite www.djricomixshow.com/forum/v....php?tid=14072BIRDS OF PRAY REMIX

Should it be tripled now? It may even do that though so maybe let us make it quadruple-that should guarantee it, right? To be fair, what I said back in March (which is still very true) was For a successful movie, the movie should gross double it's production budget worldwide or at least gross more than it's budget domestically. The reason for that is because studios on average only take in %50 of a movie's gross. Burlesque has gross 87 million worldwide. That's pretty far from the 110 million it would need to break even. Some people bring in advertising costs in to the calculation. But advertising costs are generally considered to be gained back from DVD sales (as long as sales are good). To give you the full stats, the average marketing budget of a movie is generally equal to half it's production budget. A good estimate for Burlesque's ad budget would be 25 million. That gives it a total budget of 80 million. A studio gets back around %60 of a movies gross on it's first week and an average of %50 from the following weeks. It also gets an average of %40 of it's foreign gross. For foreign heavy film like Burlesque, this is averaged out at %45 of it's total theater gross. But %50 is just a nicer number to work with ( though most people actually use %40) Burlesque has made 90m worldwide. That gives the studio 45m in income, leaving a 35 million deficit. From the DVD sales, the net income for the studio is around %75 of the total gross. As of the end of April 3rd, Burlesque's DVD gross is 17.5 million. That's a 13m net income from DVD sales so far, leaving a 22m deficit. And considering foreign DVD sales do not bring in much money, that 22 million will have to be gained back through rentals and licensing, which would take a few years. But something to remember is that most movies don't actually make much profit the traditional way. It takes a lot of creative accounting and tax breaks for a movie to be profitable. That could mean that Burlesque may already be deep into profits and we wouldn't even know. PS. I'm just trying to be informative. I love movies, I love Christina and I liked Burlesque so I'm not hating by any means.

Any word on when Christina is planning on releasing her next album? I really want to see what she does next. I hope she still releases a few ballads cause her slow songs always stand out for me.
I still can't believe YLM didn't even go top 100 on billboard.

I am actually hoping for a Fall release though with our luck Christina will suddenly decide she needs another three years to work on the music and then when she releases what sounded like somewhat fresh music will sound dated and old. She has been working though since the beginning of the year and the Fall release schedule looks slightly less crowded this year so it may work for her.

I actually can't see her waiting 3-4 years again as during those periods she was touring, having Max or filming Burlesque. There won't be a Bionic Tour and if she doesn't get pregnant again I think early/mid next year she should have new music out.

Considering Christina has been in the studio already, I'm hoping for a Spring/Summer 2012 release. It'll be an ideal time as well since most of the current female artists will be done with their eras by then.
A Fall release this year would be a good idea as well since she will be in the spotlight with The Voice, but considering it's Christina, who usually takes 3/4 years to release an album, releasing another album just over a year after her previous effort seems like a stretch to me.

Christina's iTunes playlist:

3. “Rolling in the Deep” – Adele “Adele has an amazing way with words. I like the lyrics to this song a lot.”
4. “F**k You” – Cee Lo Green “Love Cee Lo’s signature voice! And providing this lyrical content in such an upbeat song is genius. He’s always unexpected.”
5. “Honey Bee” – Blake Shelton “I don’t normally listen to a lot of country, but this is cleverly written and so sweet. Never thought Blake had that side to him. Ha ha.”
6. “Down on Me” – Jeremih feat. 50 Cent “So into this song right now. My fave!”
7. “Just the Way You Are” – Bruno Mars “Such a sweet song to dedicate to a special girl. Makes me melt.”
8. “Rocketeer” – Far East Movement feat. Ryan Tedder “Smooth, easy song to chill to in the car.”
9. “Monster” – Kanye West, Jay-Z, Rick Ross, Nicki Minaj, & Bon Iver “Song gets me going!”
10. “Did It On’em” – Nicki Minaj “This was my SONG during my promo tour for my last movie.”
11. “Creep” – Radiohead “I heard it the other day, and it reminded me how much I love it!”
12. “Keep on Singin’ My Song” – Christina Aguilera “This is from my Stripped record. It holds special meaning to me, and the lyrics will always resonate.”
