Oh Christina is the master of the backhanded compliment. She always finds a way to big herself up and demean others, however subtle. Like she's observing from the top or something. Not necessarily always intentional, but it just doesn't sound good. #trufax

Christina Aguilera tops 'empowering' song pollChristina Aguilera's 'Beautiful' has been named the most empowering pop song of the last decade for lesbian, gay and bisexual people in a new poll. Equality charity Stonewall polled more than 1,000 online supporters to find out which song they thought had the most empowering message. Aguilera's 2003 hit achieved 33% of the vote, ahead of the 25% achieved by Boyzone's 'Better' in second place. The Irish group became the first boyband to feature a gay couple in a music video, when the late Stephen Gateley was shown with a male partner. Lady GaGa's 'Born This Way' placed third with 17%, followed by Gossip's 'Standing In The Way Of Control' and Katy Perry's 'Firework' in fourth and fifth position respectively. Responding to the news, Christina Aguilera said: "I'm delighted to have been voted the most inspirational pop act by Stonewall's supporters - my gay fan base is so important to me and this continues my special relationship with them." 'Professor of Pop' Paul Gambaccini added: "Recently many of the United States' leading female vocalists have recorded anthems of self-empowerment as a response to bullying, homophobia and misogyny in schools and society. Several of these have become major hits. "The one that has registered most with Stonewall's online supporters has been the out lesbian Linda Perry's song 'Beautiful' popularised by Christina Aguilera. This recording lives up to its title. As a song and as a performance, it is a major achievement that has inspired millions of young people around the world." www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/news/a313129/christina-aguilera-tops-empowering-song-poll.html?sms_ss=facebook&at_xt=4d9d930448835afe%2C0

I wonder if she will release a new album this Fall.
It would be good to use The Voice as a promo tool, as it will raise her public profile over the next few months.

I wonder if Christina is going to put her hand again for Mary to kiss it..haha I'm sure she is more humble now and not caught up in the hype. She might want to bow down though when sees her. remember that look MJB shot her at the VMA03 awards...

^ So we can say that it has at least broken even with its budget or might now be into profit! (including WW sales of the DVD).

It has at least broke even and that isn't counting any worldwide dvd sales, soundtrack sales, or licensing/tv showings that will probably come. Not bad for the biggest flop ever ;)

Yep-I was sort of folding that into licensing (like, rentals, netflix, etc). Overall, this will make a decent profit. Most movies do not turn a profit at all and the budget for this was pretty high for a limited profit genre so overall this was definitely a success.

It will likely make a profit a few days down the line, but I wouldn't call it a success.
Using general movie standards, Burlesque is far from breaking even right now. A successful movie would break even on it's theater run alone. Not to mention as an investment for the studio, they didn't spend millions just to get some profit a few years later.
So I wouldn't call it a success, but it wasn't a failure either.

Successtina ?! ;) People would rather die than admit anything Christina does now is a success, so even though it is a success most will refuse to admit it lol. But, at least we DO know it brought profit pretty quickly to its makers :) I can guarantee at least the people who created it are pleased with its success.

The movie will also be released in Turkey on april 24th and South Korea but the exact date for SK is still unknown. It's gonna slay on DVD worldwide and it's still going strong in the US.
