They are currently stunting with Christmas music, but afterwords, Miami's only Rock station is flipping to Soft Hits/Easy Listening. Samples they've been advertising include The Temptations and SImon & Garfunkel.
Not sure what to make of this move. The station is owned by Cox and they already own Coast 97.3 Wonder if they think this will go after Lite FM. It looks like it's gonna be a non-rock version of Majic.

I would die if I lived in Miami (musically ) - no Hot AC, no Alternative, no Rock, no Triple A, and a Rhythmic-leaning CHR

As someone who follows the rock panel fairly closely, WHDR (93 rock) was maybe the worst rock station on the entire panel over the last few years, so it's not exactly tragic. They added no new artists and were disgustingly recurrent and gold heavy. Hopefully a new rock station moves into Miami that's more successful because they choose better music.

For Hot AC, we can get WRMF which is located in Palm Beach

Seems more truer to a soft rock sound that most other stations that advertise themselves as soft rock. They also reach into the 60s as well. Not too many AC stations these days do that.

^Based on those sample hours, the newest song they played is The Greatest Love Of All by Whitney Houston (24 years old lol) - IMO it's definitely not a gold-based AC station

So is it Oldies? Classic Hits? They call themselves Easy 93.1.

I was looking at their playlist on yes.com (type in WHDR, though their calls are now WFEZ) and it seems to lean heavily on 60s and 70s. I could something similar to our "oldies" station WQJQ, which calls itself Super Hits of the 60s and 70s. But with a name like Easy, I still think of something AC-ish. By the way, they did play "Only Time" by Enya.

Every song on that list is a staple at soft AC radio; I can only assume that they're still researching the current crop of AC product to see what works best in that market, and are consequently playing tons of format staples in order to differentiate themselves from any other station in Miami.
It's definitely not an AC station, since there's no chance whatsoever that you'll be hearing such AC staples as Daughtry, Avril Lavigne, Pink, John Mayer, Train, Rob Thomas or Katy Perry.
A similarly-formatted and fully automated soft AC station in Tampa (Cox-owned WDUV) has been #1 in that market for too many years to count.

It's been good so far, I think. But too much Barry Manilow, Simon and Garfunkel, and James Taylor. I agree with John that it does seem a lot like Majic Lite. I don't mean Lite FM.

I am not a James Taylor fan, so the heavyness on him has affected me rather quickly. Same with Manilow.

It may be a gold-based AC station. What exactly is the definition of gold-based AC. I've heard the term but can't find a good explanation of it on the web. Thanks.

Of course, 93.1 plays no currents and little from the last 10 years. Do you think any of these would fit EZ's format? 1. Desert Rose - Sting 2. Breathless - Corrs 3. Thank You - Dido 4. Never Had A Dream Come True - S Club 7 5. A New Day Has Come - Celine Dion 6. Out Of My Heart (Into My Head) - BB Mak 7. Ordinary Day - Vanessa Carlton 8. Don't Know Why - Norah Jones 9. Voice Within - Christina Aguilera 10. With You - Jessica Simpson 11. First Cut Is The Deepest - Sheryl Crow 12. Trouble With Love Is - Kelly Clarkson 13. Forever and For Always - Shania Twain 14. She Will Be Loved - Maroon 5 15. Unwritten - Natasha Bedingfield 16. You're Beautiful - James Blunt 17. Unfaithful - Rihanna 18. Take A Bow - Rihanna 19. Big Girls Don't Cry - Fergie 20. We Belong Together - Mariah Carey 21. I'm Yours - Jason Mraz 22. Hey Soul Sister - Train

They seem to be playing fewer songs from the 60's, and I heard Norah Jones' Don't Know Why from '02 a couple of times.

A year later, EZ seems to be turning more into Lite. They have dropped many of the oldies and are now airing Delilah at night.
In the ratings, the station has now moved to 4th place and has now even pulled ahead of Lite FM.
Songs from the 2000s currently on their playlist (not previously mentioned)
'N Sync - This I Promise You Celine Dion - Have You Ever Been In Love Josh Groban - You Raise Me Up Norah Jones - Don't Know Why Lonestar - Amazed
Not even gonna bother with the 90s. Pretty much EZ is now Lite without currents or recurrents.

It may have peaked on AC in the 2000s but it was out in 1999.
