I was browing M's scores at metacritic.com, and I wish they would find just one more positive review for both Confessions and Music. They both currently have a score of 80. If they get to 81, they'll be considered to have "universal acclaim."

josh, go to acclaimedmusic.net to see their year-end/all-time acclaim. :) Metacritic is part of that site. Neither of those albums enjoyed the acclaim that, say, Ray of Light had, but hey did alright in that department.

Ray Of Light. Haters bbe sent to Australia. She doesnt go there and that is where the UK sent all their haters.
Like BTS and all of her 90's work the best. Her 00's work is great lots of gems and her 80's is the VINTAGE.

A few interviews of Madonna at the 55th Annual BFI London Film Festival. They are really good and worth watching. Thanks to Madonnarama who seem to be the premiere source of all Madonna news recently!

Thanks for the links, floridag- looks good. :) Liz R. by her side, as it should be. :)
BTW- "Borderline" features on TIME's 100 Greatest Songs list.

‘Borderline’ By Radhika Jones | October 24, 2011
When “Borderline” was released as a single in February 1984 I was 11: not quite old enough to be in love with a boy, just the right age to fall in love with a pop song. We fell en masse, the girls in my Catholic middle school, and as much as we could look like Madonna — lacy bows, mousse-mussed hair, fingerless gloves — while still pulling off the uniform kilt, we did. (Maybe the kilt didn’t hurt, actually.) What was it about “Borderline” that hooked us? That slightly adenoidal, approachable voice; the look Madonna had in the video of a cool big sister crossing over into womanhood, deciding what kind of woman she wanted to be; the tantalizing frustration not just of being in love but of constantly having one’s love pushed over the borderline. Madonna went on to sing more-clever songs (“Material Girl”), more-showy songs (“Like a Prayer”), more-sexy songs (“Justify My Love”). But “Borderline,” her first top-10 hit, captures the essence of her pop appeal, its freshness, simplicity and vitality.

Thanks floridagrl as always for your posts. I too am excited to see W.E. I'm sure you've seen the new trailer. It looks impressive and beautifully shot. I keep watching it for a lot of Madonna references in it. Her videos had a big influence with her vision for this. :)

Cher- who I also enjoy much- was never as successful or important as Madonna. But, yeah, she keeps keepin' on.

Cher's career is massively overrated. A brief period of success once a decade is not the same thing as being consistently successful. Especially since her last comeback lasted for just one song, and that one song was given to her.
Only irrelevant nostalgia acts get shows in Vegas, Madonna's not at that point yet. Her last album hit #1 in 37 markets, spawned a global smash lead single, and the subsequent tour broke records all over the world despite being based on the new album, not a catalog of hits. Nobody with a show in Vegas can say all of that about their last "era."

do you guys think we'll get a new single in December? Or will it be Jan/Feb? I can't wait to watch the WW charts during a new Madonna era. So exciting!

Madonna said the first single from her new album will be spring. Thinking Mar or Apr. I can't wait either. We will have W.E. in December, however.

If she hits #1 on the WW chart she'll have 20 #1's, and they still have more charts to do (1986-89 I believe). I forget which years haven't been calculated yet...

Liz Smith: Madonna and Miss Lopez — Please Don’t Let Them Be Misunderstoodby LIZ SMITH on OCTOBER 25, 2011IT’S NOT easy being “misunderstood on a global level” as Madonna remarked to a reporter over the weekend at the London premiere of her movie “W.E.” The pop icon-turned-director was actually speaking about identifying with the heroine of her film, Wallis Simpson, the Duchess of Windsor. But she was having her own local misunderstandings just as she was talking. Fans who had waited for hours to see Madonna were apparently angry that she didn’t spend more time on the red carpet. They booed her. Well, I’ve seen the crowd boo stars who stood twenty minutes outside — because they always want more, more, more. (Apparently, five fans out of several thousand were annoyed. As our London source tells us: “They were totally hysterical for her, in a good way!”) The atmosphere was friendlier in the theater. “W.E.” received a standing ovation and the audience — perhaps because they were Brits — seemed to pay keener, appreciative attention to the film, rather than dismiss it out of hand because of Madonna’s involvement. Madonna looked glamorous and appropriate in black velvet. Unfortunately, her older brother, Anthony, has recently added to the “global misunderstanding” of the star. The long-troubled Mr. Ciccone claims his entire family — father, stepmother and his seven other siblings — have turned their backs on him, allowing him to “live under a bridge” in Michigan. He gave an interview to a local newspaper, asked rhetorically “Why am I homeless when my sister is a multi-millionaire?” Then he gave another interview in which he insisted he wanted nothing from her. (Naturally, he did not ask at any point, “Why am I homeless when I have such a large family — aside from the rich one?”) Anthony should take a page – literally — from his brother Christopher’s book. Christopher is probably still living off the money he received for his tell-all about M. several years ago. If Anthony Ciccone is lucid enough to give interviews and remember who his famous sister is—and how much she is worth– he’s lucid enough to write it up and profit. (I'm not going to post the JLO portion here) www.wowowow.com/liz-smith/liz-smith-madonna-and-miss-lopez-please-dont-let-them-be-misunderstood/

If Madge plays the Super Bowl, perhaps February. I believe M had said Feb. or March for the new single, and spring for the album.

^ good article floridagrl. Just love Liz Smith. What I really don't understand or maybe it's with most stars is how the press blows everything out of proportion when it comes to Madonna. There are tons of net headlines on how her fans turned on her and booed her and takes everthing way out of context to make one think they were booing her movie. She is made out to be an uncaring sibling to her homeless brother even tho no one knows her family secrets or what really happened. The "lady who" she said at the premiere is laugable and the press is trying to start a war even tho we know Gaga and Madonna respect each other. Maybe I'm too sensitive when it comes to the queen but she gets bad press all the time. It must be because she is a strong, powerful women and some can not deal with that.
I better stop. I just want to defend her. On another front, I think W.E. will do very well at the box office worldwide. She will slay it with a killer new single at the superbowl. Her album will be a critical and commercial success this spring.

she is criticized just like MJ. It's nothing new. Glad she just ignores it tho, and continues on with her life, giving a big middle finger to everyone who says otherwise. That's why we love her! Sadly, only after her death will everyone appreciate her for what she has truly done. Hopefully that never happens, or at least not until she hits 100 years old. I hope I live to see that day!
