Would be surprising if the track hits radio and iTunes simultaneously. With "4 Minutes," it hit iTunes after it had been at radio for a week or so. (Though "Hung Up" pretty much hit radio and iTunes together- maybe iTunes a few days after it first hit radio).

Note that it says the impact date- so, radio probably will spin it before then. "Push" and 'Like it Or Not" are the runts of the COADF litter- the former is too repetitive (certain Pulse posters may think that since I can be at times, I'd love it. haha But no. it's not terrible, but it's one track I don't seek out) "Isaac" is rather epic for me. :) Actually, ILNY is my least favorite. I think Isaac is a gem that belongs more to ROL than COAD. Great track! I thought Push was cool. Not my favorite, but I thought it was a perfect track to promote in the US. I never understood the way the album was handled. Missing on Jump and Push as singles that could've helped COAD was non-sense. I like GT (not my favorite tho tbh), but it was TOO Euro for the US. After Sorry flopped, the label should've quickly switched gears to Jump with a good video, and especially with the promotion of The Devil Wears Prada. Push as a follow-up single and end the era. Would be surprising if the track hits radio and iTunes simultaneously. With "4 Minutes," it hit iTunes after it had been at radio for a week or so. (Though "Hung Up" pretty much hit radio and iTunes together- maybe iTunes a few days after it first hit radio). I remember the time 4M went to iTunes. Many of us thought it should have either been repressed a bit or released a day earlier. It ended up selling A LOT, but just short to only make it to #3. I remember there being a couple of very competitive weeks where Madonna was very close to #2 and #1. Argghhh!! She should've gotten another #1 >:( I hope there is some good buzz/buildup before the track hits iTunes (at least with snippets) and the track is released on Monday to benefit from a full week of sales. Go for that #1 Queen!!

Really should be 39th, if we count the honorary "Into the Groove." :) After all, it WAS available on a commercial single at the time it was getting airplay. The rule about 12-inch singles not being allowed to chart on the Hot 100 at the time is questionable, given that others did chart in pre-1980s years and after that. Sire/WB probably foolishly requested it not chart or something, so it wouldn't detract attention away from "Angel." There was no issue with it appearing on the R&B chart, though...

I wonder if she will be promoting the album, the SB, the movie, or all three on Nightline? Please talk more about the album! Give us some juice M. :)

I'd think the movie will take up a good amount of the discussion, along with her life at the moment, some mention of the album, maybe brief talk of the of SB, too.
In recent years, when she has had U.S. TV interviews, she has not talked baout the music- think Letterman when Celebration was released. Heck, even when she appeared on Letterman in 2005, they didn't actually talk about the album after he introduced her.

This would be my ideal release schedule for the single..
January 23rd- Radio Premiere February 5th- Super Bowl Performance February 6th- Digital Release February 7th- Radio Impact Date February 14th- Video Release February 28th- Remix EP
That way, you have airplay building for two weeks before the performance, you release the song digitally after the performance for a major spike in sales, and since her first week sales are always the biggest with 1st singles, it'd impact the Hot 100 higher because of higher airplay which would make a #1 single very likely. Release the video a week later to sustain second week sales.

The 1cd Celebration album is pictured in the Best Buy circular this week.
It's on sale for $7.99.
I stopped into the Best Buy in Union Square in NYC this afternoon.
They had 1 copy on the shelf.
The album will be on sale until Feb. 18.

Wow- circular placement? Double CD also needs a good price; at $20+, that thing ain't gonna sell. Madonna TV Reference: Hot in Cleveland again referenced Madonna in this past week's episode. It focused on how Melanie, Joy and Victoria met in the 1980s. Melanie was on a hotel rooftop crying, and so was Victoria- Victoria emerged dressed as Madonna, circa Desperately Seeking Susan. You can see the episode here: www.tvland.com/shows/hot-in-cleveland/full-episodesThe references: Elka: I was never that into Madonna. Until, you know... *Elka vogues* As they flash back to the past again, Victoria tells Melanie how she planned to to seduce the director of a music video at the hotel. She relays this to Melanie. Victoria: After the director fired me, I thought, "What would Madonna do"? So, I got down on my knees. Melanie: And prayed? Victoria: You're a little naive, aren't you? No, it turns out that the director was already sleeping with the real Madonna, so it didn't work. Melanie: You're way prettier than Madonna. Victoria: naive, but insightful.

Why the fark that song was not put on and say Incredible or Invincable or whatever the hell it's called and Spanish Lessons were left on that dam record, I HAVE NO answer for. Dear lord.
Across The Sky fits PERFECTLY with the 4 Minutes save the world theme and Latte fits amazingly well with Miles Away. The additions of these two songs would have added to the SWEET component of the album, making for less stickier substences. Latte needed to be a the second single with Beat Goes On as the third.
We could have had a more successful era IMO.
Just my two cents worth on HC. Fun decent album but by no means up there with her best as there was just too much middle range fodder.

Candy Shop slays and sounds wonderful live. I liked the Pharrell production on that one. I know I'm a minority but eh.

Regarding the new single radio date, maybe they think the song will have a quick burn so they want to maximize first week impact, but I agree that it should have a week or two of some advanced airplay.

^Indeed. Wording kinda makes it sound like 275 million, though- but, it would be 200m albums in all. That was based on Billboard's report (from WB in December 2009) that Madonna had sold 75m albums. it's all very simple to figure out, if one takes even conservative estimates based on known info, and comes up with a number. And, yes, florida- Victoria did look like a DQ. hehe How about the lighting used in that video shoot with the other girls? She's 60 years old- looks terrific for her age, no doubt, but she needed that lighting with the young women in that scene.

Did you know about the writers of "Masterpiece"? They are Julie Frost ("Just Can't Get Enough" by the Black Eyed Peas, "Countdown" by Beyonce) and Jimmy Harry ("Funhouse", "Sober" by Pink, "Touch of My Hand" by Britney Spears). Very interesting collaborators. "Masterpiece" has grown a lot on me, I hope it's on the album.
