“When I heard it on the radio …I said that sounds very familiar,” Madonna said. Asked if that felt annoying, Madonna responded, “It felt reductive.” Pressed as to whether that was a good or bad thing, Madonna told Cynthia McFadden to “look it up” — we did; the term means “minimal” or “crude” — before smiling slyly and taking a sip from her tea cup. Love her.

Era off to a "bad start"? LMAO Hardly. The Queen is making herself known in a major way.

Ouch. She must be really insecure to say that about Born This Way. This era is off to a bad start. Very graceless and adolescent. I don't find 15-year-old girls inspiring. I'm dumbfounded that a 53-year-old woman would want to emulate one. With all the life experience and wisdom Madonna has, one would think the woman we saw in Evita, You'll See, Ray of Light, Live to Tell, etc. would have something better to offer than a text culture piece of disposable pop borne out of bitter narcissism. Isn't Madonna performing the lead single at the SUPER BOWL? I can't think of a better way to start an era...

That's right, Cynthia- proclaim the Queen what everyone should know- besides icon, all of that, best-selling female artist of all time. :)

Assuming that Madonna will tour again with this upcoming album, I would really like to see "Secret" and "Justify My Love" added to the setlist. It's been a while, and those are two of my favorite Madonna songs.

LMAO @ Madonna's comments!! But she's right. It is a 're-do' of her song. Why should she not 'express' that fact?
I don't see it as being bitchy at all. She just gave an honest answer to the question.

O-L-D MADONNA! But seriously what a bitch. If these comments make Madonna a bitch then what did Gaga *LYING* about Madonna contacting her and giving her the Holy Madge Blessing for BTW make her?

The rumored schedule has already leaked, after some dates were "accidentally" posted on her official website and based on rumblings from LiveNation. Right now it looks like she's doing a 7 month stretch, going damn near everywhere, and playing a crap load of stadiums.

It must be nice to go on tour whenever you want and gross $200 million. It's almost like going to the candy store. ;)

BREAKING NEWS!! Madonna finally responded on the subject of the comparisons of "Express Yourself" and "Born This Way"!!! Newsweek #Madonna on @ladygaga's 'Born This Way': "This is a wonderful way to redo my song [Express Yourself]" tmblr.co/ZRg1ayEfxBn5 (1/2) 1 Hour Ago Newsweek #Madonna: "I mean, I recognized the chord changes. I thought it was…interesting." (2/2) 1 hour ago SOURCE #B00P snatched. Good to see the shady in Madge is still alive, she always serves it up the BEST. :'( I don't know what so many Gaga stans around the web are now rioting against her for tb h..as if they expected her to say something different. Pretty much everyone else in the world knows what BTW is and Madge has never been one to sugarcoat or kiss azz so... YESSSSSSSSSSSSsssss. You give me so much life, peace, joy and tranquility. That MP gif pretty much made you my new fave. Madge really is no joke though. She doesn't care who she offends or pisses off. She is like the Honey Badger of music. Whelp...at least YOU liked it. ...before smiling slyly and taking a sip from her tea cup. slayed where I sit.

I just think that's rude for anyone to say. No matter how famous, influential, legendary, rich, etc.....it doesn't make it more right to say things like that. I'd be flattered if someone looked up to me so much.

Well, she certainly achieved what she wanted. As if people weren't going to talk about her whether she said something about Gaga or not.

She said some of her people, and Madonna has TONS of people. It wouldn't be uncommon for someone to contact Gaga on "her behalf" without asking Madonna first. It happened to Gaga with one of her people telling Weird Al he couldn't spoof one of her songs, and didn't ask Gaga first....she found out and told Weird Al he could do it.

It was embarrassing. She'd have a lot more respect if she said she was flattered by the homage. Trying to pretend that she invented the very basic chord progression in Express Yourself makes her look amateurish as a musician; otherwise she'd know how rudimentary and commonplace it is.
The best in their field are always generous in spirit towards others. She's making it hard to "stan" for her when instead of being confident & beautiful, she's being insecure & jealous.
