Frankly, given her stature in the industry and tenure as one of pop's reigning veterans, I don't really feel she is coming from a place of insecurity and jealousy. I mean, let's be real here, what does she REALLY have to be jealous about, when you think about it? So, her albums and singles don't do as well as they used to and her videos are no longer events but maybe all that's about to change with MDNA. She has proven time and time again that she is not to be counted out. Not everyone has to be "OMG Thank You Artist X for borrowing my music, style, ideas, whatever." I am not able to crucify Madonna for making a few comments to an interviewer. Would you rather lie about her feelings? I have a feeling if things were reversed and this was Lady GaGa, she would make the same type of comment. I certainly could hear the same types of comments coming out of her mouth, without a doubt. I am a fan of both artists for different reasons and think they both can co-exist. No need to get all up in arms about a comment. Brush it off and keep it moving in 2012.

Thinking Madonna has any reason to be insecure or jealous is hilarious.

Not to bring up old sh*t, but since we're discussing it, It's not just the chord progression that similar in both songs it's also the melody:
"I'm beautiful in my way 'Cause God makes no mistakes I'm on the right track, baby I was born this way."
has the EXACT same melody as
"So if you want it right now, make him show you how. Express what he's got, oh baby ready or not".
You can sing one part over the other and it fits perfectly.

I don't think Madonna really cares at all about the whole thing; that's clear enough both in her actual answer and the fact that she waited a year to discuss it was obviously intentional to promote her current ventures. It's just business for her.

It was embarrassing. She'd have a lot more respect if she said she was flattered by the homage. Trying to pretend that she invented the very basic chord progression in Express Yourself makes her look amateurish as a musician; otherwise she'd know how rudimentary and commonplace it is. The best in their field are always generous in spirit towards others. She's making it hard to "stan" for her when instead of being confident & beautiful, she's being insecure & jealous. Your not being serious are you? Really? Seriously, much ado bout nothin in my opinion. Frankly, Im sure both are unaware of this silly war and if they were, they'd be laughing their asses off together.

Personally, I couldn't care less about this whole controversy. This was the only part of the interview that mattered.

There was nothing even rude about her commentary. It's not even that serious or deep. People claiming that she was rude are reaching and most likely coming from a place of blind standom. (this is not directed at posters but people across cyberworld who are getting their leotards in a twist over nothing)

Sh*t like that happens when you've been in the industry for 30 years. Yep...30 years and still relevant way after her peak...many artists have a hard time lasting 3 years before peaking and losing relevance... ;) I can't wait for her to score another #1 album and #1 single. It's funny because for someone to have pretty much done it all...she still finds a way to do something different. As retro as Give me all your love sounds...I can't find a song in her catalog that resembles it...which is hard when you have put over 12 studio albums out.

She's not even bitchy. She was asked a question and she answered honestly. Basically, simply put. I don't know why the monsters are so up in arms at her. If anything they should be mad at the interviewer for bringing it up. They're acting as if Madonna is somehow dissing Gaga or using name to get attention or purposely planned all this for publicity purposes...err, she was asked a damn question.

Gaga never said Madonna herself gave her approval. She said some of her people, and Madonna has TONS of people. It wouldn't be uncommon for someone to contact Gaga on "her behalf" without asking Madonna first. It happened to Gaga with one of her people telling Weird Al he couldn't spoof one of her songs, and didn't ask Gaga first....she found out and told Weird Al he could do it. Yum, yeah she did. Skip to 8:30! LOL

Madonna Presenting at the Golden Globe Awards!January 13, 2012 by Brett Malecand Marc MalkinMadonna is getting her Golden Globes on! We just got word that... The Material Girl will be among the night's presenters. Producers exclusively reveal that she will be handing out the award for Best Foreign Language Film at this Sunday's Awards Ceremony at the Beverly Hilton hotel in L.A. She will be presenting solo. Madge's movie W.E. is up for Best Original Score as well as Best Original Song for her tune "Masterpiece." If the song wins, Madonna will be taking home her second Golden Globe award. The 53-year-old was honored as Best Actress in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy for her role in Evita back in 1997. It was announced earlier today that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie will also be presenting. I'm told they will not be presenting together. Just yesterday, we revealed that Kate Beckinsale, Emily Blunt and Elle McPherson will also be joining previously announced presenters Jessica Biel, Reese Witherspoon, Melissa McCarthy, Mila Kunis, Mark Wahlberg, Ashton Kutcher, Nicole Kidman, Salma Hayek and Jake Gyllenhaal, among others. The Globes air live Sunday on NBC (E! and NBC are both part of the NBCUniversal family). She looks great and I'm actually loving these interviews. I've always liked her music but haven't got very invested in her...and she's totally capturing my interest right now.

I think what concerns me most about this whole thing is that Madonna might purposely use GaGa for her own success this time around. And I know people will say that GaGa "used" Madonna for her success but GaGa has never said a bad thing about Madonna ever. If Madonna uses every opportunity she can get to underhandedly trash or subtly badmouth GaGa then, well, I would think her to be above that because as far as I know, she's never used someone's name in a negative fashion to further herself (well, except for religious references ). It just feels cheap to me. I'm still interested in seeing how this plays out but as an obvious fan of GaGa, I can't help but feel that this might be a bit souring in the weeks and months to come. Though I will say that I think it's inevitable that the current GaGa backlash will help Madonna regardless but I don't think Madonna needs to fuel it any further.

She praised her and said she saw her live a few years ago and liked her and thinks she's very talented. People are making much ado about nothing.

^^She didn't use anyone. She was asked a question during an interview and very politely and intelligently answered it. ABC solicited questions to ask Madonna during the interview. The most asked was what Madonna thought about LG. That's it in a nutshell.
