Of course Taylor is gonna surpass Eminem in 2011...But that doesn't mean that Eminem isn't doing good. Girl artists, or to be more accurate in those last 3 years country music have been selling more than other genres, especially girl country artists.
However, i would say let's wait till late January then we'd see if she's really consistent.

Kind of random, but i have always wondered, how many people state that Taylor is country artist and therefore sells so good. Because those country folks, they don`t even have computers, so she will not lose much because of the piracy. Yet Taylor Swift in nr1 digitally downloaded artist in Nielsen Soundscan history.
btw those UK sales are amazing! Congrats to Take That and Rihanna. :)

People don't really count that though lol Some albums move several thousands of copies each year. So are you telling me that an album that was the 5th best selling in 1998 but then sold let's say 10,000 units each year until 2010 and had enough total sales to be higher than the 1-4 albums of 1998, it would then be considered the #1 album of 1998? That seems cheap and just a way to give your favorite artist another ranking. True. It's not like Taylor get's an official ranking or anything like Eminem, but people do care and keep track of things like this. It's silly either way. This...people are focusing about the fact that taylor will outsell em in the long run because she most likely won't outsell him in both the calendar year and billboard year of 2010. #Pressed

Its not becuase theyre female, its because they are smashing

She is, or at least she was by the time she released one song every week from Speak Now with more than +21m songs. The closest one to her was GaGa, If I recall correctly.

She was number one at the end of 2009. Rihanna may have taken that spot back from her, but we'll find out on January 5 when Nielsen-Soundscan releases its year-end stats.

Taylor Swift and Michael Jackson headed for Top of the Billboard 200 By Melinda Newman - Holiday titles from Susan Boyle, 'Glee' and Jackie Evancho continue sales streak Sunday, Dec 26, 2010 1:07 PM Christmas keeps on giving long after the Dec. 25 actually passes. For years, the week after Christmas has often been the biggest total sales week of the year because people have gift cards and holiday cash burning a hole in their pocket. Snow storms may slow sales for a bit, but look for the next two weeks to have strong sales. That said, it looks like Taylor Swift will have bragging rights for hitting No. 1 the last week of 2010. For the sales week that ends Dec. 26, “Speak Now” will remain at No. 1 with sales of around 325,000, according to Hits Daily Double. Susan Boyle’s “The Gift” will come in at No. 2 with a tally of up to 250,000. Look for that holiday-themed set to have one more good week, as will the No. 3 title, “Glee’s” Christmas album and Jackie Evancho’s “O Holy Night,” before fading until next Christmas. Michael Jackson’s “Michael” likely drops two spots to No. 5, before we see a few new entries: Keyshia Cole’s “Calling All Hearts” is poised to bow at No. 6, while Jamie Foxx’s “Best Night of My Life” should come in at No. 7, but will top the 125,000 mark. The rest of the Top 10 is composed of current hitmakers, including Nicki Minaj’s “Pink Friday,” Eminem’s “Recovery,” which is the top-selling album of 2010, and Kid Rock’s “Born Free.” All titles in the Top 10 are slated to surpass 100,000 in sales, as are more of the albums slotted No. 10-20. www.hitfix.com/blogs/the-beat-goes-on/posts/taylor-swift-and-michael-jackson-headed-for-top-of-the-billboard-200

HITS currently shows last week's chart as the 22%- error.
I don't know why Melinda Newman is using info from HITS for the Billboard 200- those two should never be joined in articles, as they're two different publications. It's not like Billboard doesn't post its own albeit (similar) projections.

^Maybe we'll find out whether that's changed in the last year. If not Swift, then Stephanie G., I'd think, has sold the most digital tracks since SoundScan started tracking sales in 2003. Of course, they didn't really start registering significant amounts until 2005, and then exlpoded 2006/2007.

I think that considering she has had more hits and albums this year, Rihanna might be closer than GaGa now, but I think Swift should have the #1 spot thanks to her countdown singles, the 1m selling 'Mine' and decent sales for her old singles.

I'm shocked that HDD are publishing a chart this week. I suppose they won't be taking any time off this year.

Oh, and I hope the mods reinforce this new rule that the charts can not be discussed as long as Eminem is involved. He is the be all and end all apparently, according to members who have barely been here a year.
I'm so tired of certain illiterate fools ruining actual chart discussions.

The top-selling album of any given year is all about timing for the most part (a few weeks could have made the difference for Susan last year and for Taylor this year). I'd say having the larger (total) figure is the ultimate trump card (not that it really matters either way).

I think Eminem will keep that one. I don't. Heading into the new year they're only going to be a few hundred thousand apart and I fully expect Taylor to close that gap rather quickly (especially considering her era is relatively new). One hit single and it's sealed. I'm sorry, I thought you meant in 2010....not past it. Yes, Taylor will definitely pass him in 2011.

There had to be a reason for her being voted Pulse's most hated artist, and I believe it stems from what microcuts said.

Taylor's fans absolutely pale in comparison to a slew of other popular artist's fan-bases here on Pulse. There are actually only a handful of members who speak out on her behalf (and of those only a few present "questionable" behavior). Regardless, no posts in this recent discussion alluded to Taylor being the "be all end all and savior to music." This is what I like to call hyperbole. There had to be a reason for her being voted Pulse's most hated artist, and I believe it stems from what microcuts said. Yeah, a lot of people here just don't like her (thinks she lacks talent, is unworthy of her success etc). If overzealous fans were enough to tip the vote for Pulse's most hated artist, there would surely be a collection of other female celebrities ahead of Taylor.

Eminem will have the best selling in 2010.
Taylor will obviously outsell him in the long run.
What is there to even argue?

I'm just glad both sold as well as they did. Them along with Boyle & Lady A helped keep record sales from dropping even more this year. Very glad to see Keyshia selling decently. She has a pretty big fan base! Will be happy to see her outsell Mr. Fox.
