Goodbye Mariah it looks like. Amazing that the queen can't get year-round airplay with that song...

Hahahaha yeah it almost seems like a prank... I'm racking my brain to figure out what song it could have been "mistaken" for, but nothing comes to mind.

I don't think WMN? will be making any significant gains this week because it's reaching it's peak on several formats and it's also going to struggle with the recurrents that will be surging for countdowns.

A tilde is also used to indicate “approximately equal to” (e.g. 1.902 ~= 2). This usage probably developed as a typed alternative to the libra symbol used for the same purpose in written mathematics, which is an equal sign (=) with the upper bar replaced by a bar with an upward hump or loop in the middle or, sometimes, a tilde. 106.138 ~= 100 93.786 ~= 100

Looks like "Grenade" will be this week's No. 1.
Billboard.com
At No. 1 on Digital Songs, Bruno Mars' "Grenade" sells 559,000 downloads (up 164%) -- the third biggest sales week for a digital song in history. Right behind him this week at No. 2 is Katy Perry's "Firework" with 509,000 (up 165%) -- the fourth largest frame ever.
Flo Rida's "Right Round" still owns the largest single week for a download when it debuted with 636,000 (chart dated Feb. 28, 2009). In second place on the all-time list is Ke$ha's "TiK ToK" with 610,000 (Jan. 9, 2010, reflecting the 2008 week that included Christmas).
Conventional wisdom is that many Christmas gift recipients find MP3 players and iTunes gift cards under their tree, resulting in immediate digital gratification via download services. With this week's charts reflecting the week that ended on Dec. 26 -- the day after Christmas -- the tallies look especially festive. Every year we see spikes in digital download sales in the week that includes the day of (and after) Christmas.
Digital track sales this past week totaled 43.96 million downloads, up 108% compared to last week (21.18 million) and down 2% stacked next to the comparable week of 2009 (44.75 million). Year to date track sales are at 1.129 billion, up 1% compared to the same total at this point last year (1.122 billion).

Yeah it looks like Bruno will be #1 this week.
I hope a full digital chart leaks this week, of all the weeks.

I think this is confirming more and more that the big day for sales is Christmas day itself, as even with the post-Christmas period getting shorter and shorter during this week over the past few years based on which day of the week Christmas is, the climb for the #1 is pretty consistent:
2010: +164% Grenade 2009: +175% Tik Tok 2008: +190% Just Dance 2007: +163% Low 2006: +176% Fergalicious
This makes sense -- you get a new MP3 player or an iTunes gift card on Christmas day, chances are you want to start using it right away.

Actually, this raises a good question -- I know the chart date will be 2011, but technically it's still 2010 right now and "Grenade" will probably be #1 -- could you say he had 3 #1s in 2010?

I believe it would count as a 2011 No. 1 hit.
I do know that if Fred Bronson were doing a survey of the top tracks for 2010 in his Hottest Hot 100 Hits book, he would list it (and its full run) for 2010.

Isn't Ke$ha the female lead (or whatever label you'd give her) in "Right Round?" So she technically has the top 2 sales weeks.

I've always understood the rule to be that the year goes to the chart peak. Even if a song is released in July and takes 30 weeks to peak, it goes to the next year.

Kesha is on Right Round, but she wasn't credited - at least in the US.

It's been a couple of albums since radio has been interested in Ms. Aguilera's tracks. A couple of albums? She had two hit singles ('Ain't No Other Man' and 'Hurt') from the album released prior to Bionic.

Yes, Mack- actually, two albums (Bionic and Burlesque- regardless of whether tracks were officially promoted or not from the latter release) and a greatest hits album.
Ke$ha was credited on "Right Round" at the beginning of the track's chart run, but then her name was pulled.

So Gaga now has 7 songs with 2m+ sales. Rihanna has 9.
Who else is in that category? Taylor? Katy?
