I'm not as sure about that. The countdowns are throwing things off.

why did all of the country songs get big gains? I'm guessing country stations were more prone to playing Christmas music. Now that they have switched back to non-Christmas songs the AI is up.

That's probably it. For instance, my local country station played nothing but Christmas music the week of Christmas.

So Gaga now has 7 songs with 2m+ sales. Rihanna has 9. Umm are you sure about that? Pretty sure GaGa is the first artist to ever have 7 two million selling singles, as reported by many sources. Edit: the article I'm reading says "as a lead act". Does that mean her FIRST 7 singles selling 2 million each is the record or that she's the first solo artist to ever accomplish have 7 2 million selling songs?

Rihanna's songs include "Live Your Life," "Love the Way You Lie," and "Run This Town" which are all collaborations where she is not listed as the lead artist. And yet she sings the chorus on all of those songs.
Also "SOS" is just a few thousand away from 2 million and "What's My Name" will no doubt reach 2m shortly. She'll have 11 songs at 2m+ within a few months.
Lady Gaga's PR team has been consistently selective with chart stats in a way that is often misleading, although with the various asterisks they have been technically true.
