Another Jazz station bites the dust.
SANDUSKY BROADCASTING Smooth Jazz KWJZ/SEATTLE has flipped to Modern AC CLICK 98.9. Targeting Male and Female Adults ages 25-39, CLICK 98.9 FM features "the 'SEATTLE Sound' of popular music styles" -- and is playing 10,000 songs in a row so listeners can hear the music nonstop.
Artists heard on the new CLICK 98.9 FM include GREEN DAY, COLDPLAY, MAROON 5, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, DAVE MATHEWS BAND, KINGS OF LEON, GOO GOO DOLLS, FOO FIGHTERS, FRAY, JACK JOHNSON, NO DOUBT, SMASHING PUMPKINS, SUBLIME, and U2.
"The SEATTLE Sound’s impact on the world’s music scene defined a generation, SANDUSKY/SEATTLE VP/GM MARC KAYE said. "This is the generation that continues to play a major part in the evolution of technology and digital interaction. The new station will be heavily involved with listeners via FACEBOOK and TWITTER. That, along with the high-tech companies located in the region made the name CLICK FM a natural choice."

Yeah you guys should try streaming it...it's an Alternative-heavy Modern AC, and it's current-heavy - according to its promos, two of its core artists are Cage The Elephant and Black Keys radiotime.com/station/s_26280/Click_989_FM.aspxMost Modern ACs that are out there right now are either 90s-based, or they're borderline AAAs - this is basically a whole new format, and I really hope it works!!

Going back to the smooth jazz angle...what's with the sudden unpopularity of the format? Could it be too much vocal music? Since it targets an upscale audience, I thought it would bill well enough to keep many stations on the air. When a station like WNUA Chicago bites the dust, that doesn't bode well at all. So who's the heritage smooth jazz station now, KIFM San Diego?
