This should scan 3 million next week. The last time we've had three albums scan 3 million was back in 2006. Judging by HDD's prediction, this probably won't make it to 2 million by the year-end. This will scan 1 million next week.

Judging by HDD's prediction, this probably won't make it to 2 million by the year-end. Soundscan's cumulative total for 'The Gift' is off because for some reason they don't report the Christian music stores to Soundscan's total for the album (this is also true for Jackie Evancho's EP/DVD). The actual total number is somewhere around the 1.9 million mark.

^ Hmm, didn't know that. The Gift might scan 2 million after all.

I'm glad Katy's selling, and shutting people up! How much did One of the Boys end up selling?

Yes- SuBo stands at 1.924 million through this week. With one week left, though, and the sales bound to drop steeply, it may not sell enough to cross 2m in the last week of the year.
Also- Jackie Evancho stands at 1.016 million.
I'd still love to know why SoundScan includes those Christian-outlet sales in the weekly sums, but not the to-date totals.

I'm glad Katy's selling, and shutting people up! How much did One of the Boys end up selling? 1.3 million it just proves Teenage Dream is a good album. Otherwise, it wouldn't sell. Simple as that.

^no offense, but sales do not equal quality.
i like katy, and her music, but soulja boy sold a million with his 1st album, and it was extremely bad.
i realize "good" is subjective, and if music brings you joy, have at it, but selling well determines popularity, not quality.

^Exactly, "good" is subjective, every album is considered good by at least someone. But albums are usually selling because of their singles, people go like "oh I love all 3 hits by Katy I heard on the radio" so they pick it up, just that the amount of people who do that are a lot less than they were 10-15 years ago, but it's never really a reflection of the whole 10-12 tracks on the album because the average person hears the rest of the songs *after* the purchase, so it's possible they think the album is not "good" after all.

And "Crank That" was popular at the time, which fueled his sales. Now he's opening with 13,000 and nowhere to be found. Way to be consistent Katy!

^It's not the responsibility of the RIAA. The record label has to contact the RIAA, ask for an audit and they pay for the certification.

I wonder if this is true about Kevin Federline's album.

You mean still hasn't reached 1 million. It's obviously going past 1 million in a matter of weeks. With another smash single or two, it could make it to 1.5 or even 2 million which is damn good these days no matters how many #1's you get.

It had a slow start but it's proven to be a consistent seller, I think it will reach 2 million by year-end 2011 which while it's not stellar for the big hits she's had is a perfectly respectable number in this day and age

A shame we didn't get numbers for this past week, especially digital numbers. :(
Hopefully we will get this week's since it's the last chart week of 2010
