From NME.com
"Boney M's Bobby Farrell has died at the age of 61.
The singer, who was on tour in Russia, was found dead in his hotel bed earlier today (December 30).
The frontman, who was born Roberto Alfonso Farrell, had played in St. Petersburg yesterday (December 29).
His agent John Seine has said that the singer had complained about breathing problems before and after his show, reports ABCnews.com.
As a group Boney M had a number of hits including versions of 'Brown Girl In The Ring', 'Mary's Boychild' and 'By The Rivers Of Babylon', with the latter selling nearly 2 million singles in UK in 1978.
The group split in 1986, although Farrell continued to play under the name with various female backing singers. "
Another legend passed away. RIP :(

Very tragic. Love Boney M's songs, they were just as essential to the '70s as ABBA were. R.I.P. :(

R.I.P. Bobby

Wow that's interesting. He played a remarkable role in very fascinating part of that country's history.

www.billboard.biz/bbbiz/genre/randb-hip-hop/boney-m-s-bobby-farrell-died-of-heart-disease-1004137907.storyBoney M's Bobby Farrell Died of Heart Disease, Say Investigators Boney M frontman Bobby Farrell died of heart disease, Russian investigators said on Wednesday, almost a week after the singer was found dead in his hotel room in St. Petersburg. "It was not a suspicious death. Heart disease was the cause," Sergei Kapitanov, representative of St. Petersburg's branch of Russia's investigative committee, said by telephone. Farrell, 61, was famous for dancing and lip synching for the disco band Boney M, which rose to prominence in Europe, the United States and the Soviet Union with songs like "Rivers of Babylon" and "Rasputin." He was found dead on December 30 after Boney M performed in the Russian imperial capital -- a city where the band rose to stardom in the Soviet era.
