The bottom of the AC chart requires very little in the way of spins- all it takes is a handful (or less) of stations to play the track, and, boom, AC entry. :)
Faith Hill has a new track out? Didn't know.

DJ Got Us Fallin' In Love and Teenage Dream both proved to be huge hits, with that kind of airplay after so long.

Wow Only Girl is being played on AC? seems kinda odd especially to debut so high after a holiday week AC is a 30-position chart, so it debuted at the lowest possible position. There is a genre called Rhythmic AC (only a handful of stations) -- not sure if it is included within BB's AC listing but that would explain songs like this charting.

Stations classified as Rhythmic AC do not count toward any spins-based charts, as there are not enough of them; they do contribute to Hot 100 Airplay, though.

Billboard.biz:
Meanwhile, over on the Digital Songs chart, Bruno Mars' "Grenade" remains at No. 1 for a third straight week, shifting 425,000 (down 24%). Katy Perry's "Firework" is steady at No. 2 (398,000; down 22%) and Ke$ha's "We R Who We R" is another non-mover at No. 3 (319,000; down 22%).
No entirely new faces dot the top 10 on Digital Songs, though a couple titles return to the region this week. P!nk's "Raise Your Glass" climbs two to No. 4 (273,000; down 16%), Enrique Iglesias' "Tonight (I'm Lovin' You)" rises two to No. 5 (270,000; down 14%) and Rihanna's "What's My Name" descends two to No. 6 (262,000; down 24%).

Adult Contemporary *** No. 1 ***/Greatest Gainer "Hey, Soul Sister" Train
Wow I wanted this song to die the first time I heard it 18 months ago, and here it is still going strong.
Bruno Mars' "Grenade" remains at No. 1 for a third straight week, shifting 425,000 (down 24%).
(almost) One million copies in two weeks? Impressive.

Adding with Mediabase, yes, but it is too close, so it could be any of the two by Nielsen BDS.

I think Katy's #1 again! But if "Grenade" takes it this week again I'll be happy too.

From Paul Grein's Yahoo! Chart Watch:
Top 10 on Hot Digital Songs 1. Bruno Mars' "Grenade" (425K) 2. Katy Perry's "Firework" (398K) 3. Ke$ha's "We R Who We R" (319K) 4. P!nk's "Raise Your Glass" (273K) 5. Enrique Iglesias featuring Ludacris & DJ Frank E's "Tonight (I'm Lovin' You)" (270K) 6. Rihanna featuring Drake's "What's My Name?" (262K) 7. Wiz Khalifa's "Black And Yellow" (261K) 8. The Black Eyed Peas' "The Time (Dirty Bit) (260K) 9. Trey Songz featuring Nicki Minaj's "Bottoms Up" (224K) 10. Nelly's "Just A Dream" (204K)
Song Scorecard: Train's "Hey, Soul Sister" tops the 5 million mark in total sales this week. (It sold 687,000 copies in 2009, when it was released.) The amiable tune is only the eighth song to reach the 5 million milestone. And it's only the second song to get there that has what you might call softer, adult contemporary appeal. The other is Jason Mraz's "I'm Yours."
Two songs topped the 4 million mark in paid downloads this week: Taio Cruz's "Dynamite" and "Airplanes" by B.o.B featuring Hayley Williams. These are the first 4-million sellers for all concerned.
Two songs topped the 3 million mark: Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream" and Finger Eleven's 2007 hit "Paralyzer." This is Ms. Perry's fourth 3-million seller.
Six songs topped the 2 million mark: I already told you about "Grenade," "Firework" and "We R Who We R." The other three are P!nk's "Raise Your Glass," Rihanna's 2006 hit "SOS" and "Bottoms Up" by Trey Songz featuring Nicki Minaj.
Shameless Plug I: These six new 2-million sellers push the total number of songs that have achieved that feat to 205. That means that, for the first time, Nielsen SoundScan's running list of the 200 top-selling songs in digital history doesn't include every 2-million seller. It's hard to imagine now, but it was just four years ago that Daniel Powter's mope-classic "Bad Day" became the first song to sell 2 million digital copies. The explosive growth of digital music has been the biggest (OK, the only) area of growth in the music business in the past decade. On Friday, I'll post a Chart Watch Extra in which I look at digital music. I'll focus on which artists have amassed the most 2 million sellers.
Paramore's "The Only Exception" topped the 1 million mark in paid downloads.

I would love to see Katy take #1 again. The signs point to yes. They sure do, but just barely. It's an amazing week for her, single-wise: California Gurls gets named biggest digital hit of 2010, Teenage Dream passes 3 million while still going strong, and Firework passes 2 million, and could take back the Hot 100. On the album side of things, TD did very well this week and is now within 3,000 copies of going platinum!!

Britney's new song debuts tomorrow right? Anyone know when it goes on sale? If it's decent it may have a good shot at #1. Otherwise I don't know who else would challenge the top spot in the next few weeks, unless Enrique starts exploding.

If it's decent? It could be a pile of turd and the Spears fans still will buy it in mass volume (at least the first week). :)

It could be a pile of turd and the Spears fans still will buy it in mass volume (at least the first week). :) I think it will get a lot of downloads either way -- but #1 is not guaranteed by any means. It would have to get probably a minimum of 350k, maybe closer to 400k in first week sales to guarantee a Hot 100 #1, assuming digital sales return to pre-Christmas levels of low-200s for Grenade/Firework/etc.

Katy Perry's 'Firework' Pops Back to No. 1 on Hot 100 by Silvio Pietroluongo, N.Y. | January 06, 2011 11:00 EST
After ducking out of the way of Bruno Mars' "Grenade" last week, Katy Perry's "Firework" returns to the Billboard Hot 100 summit for a fourth cumulative frame. Perry's inextinguishable track ranks at No. 2 on both Digital Songs with 398,000 downloads (down 22%), according to Nielsen SoundScan, and on Radio Songs with 124.5 million listener impressions (down 1%), according to Nielsen BDS.
Mars' "Grenade," which drops to No. 2 on the Hot 100, holds atop Digital Songs for a third week with a still-healthy 425,000 downloads (down 24%), the 11th best sales week since SoundScan began tracking digital track sales in 2003. The song's total a week ago (559,000) stands as the third-highest weekly sum. A week ago, the Christmas holiday bumped up against the end of SoundScan's tracking week (Sunday, Dec. 26) and in turn, the annual mp3 and gift card-sales effect seems to have spilled over into two weeks. Digital sales dip only 4% from a week ago. Last year's week to week dip in the comparable frames was 26%. This week's total is 13% greater than the seven-day period which included New Year's Day 2010. Back to the Hot 100 top 10, Ke$ha's "We R Who We R" holds at No. 3, while "What's My Name?" by Rihanna featuring Drake and P!nk's "Raise Your Glass" also hold in place at Nos. 4 and 5, respectively. Rihanna's track continues atop the Radio Songs chart for a third week. Enrique Iglesias' "Tonight (I'm Loving You)," featuring Ludacris & Frank E, reaches a new peak (7-6) and "The Time (Dirty Bit)" by the Black Eyed Peas bounds back up the list from 9-7. Wiz Khalifa steps down two spots to No. 8 with "Black And Yellow," Bruno Mars inches back up 10-9 with "Just the Way You Are" and Nelly's "Just a Dream" ventures back into the top 10 (12-10). Taylor Swift's former top 10 "Mine" is the chart's top Airplay Gainer, rebounding 42-31 with almost 50% of its 7.5 million audience gain coming from adult contemporary radio stations which transition back to normal programming following extended runs playing Christmas music.
Nickelodeon acts grab a pair of Hot 100 honors this week thanks to the network filling up a bulk of its New Year's Eve weekend with multiple episodes of its hit series "Victorious" and "Big Time Rush." The "Victorious" Cast featuring Victoria Justice cops the list's Digital Gainer award, leaping 58-50 with a 20% download spike to 79,000 for "Freak the Freak Out." Meanwhile, network sibling Big Time Rush takes Hot Shot Debut honors, indicating the highest new entry on the list, at No. 79 with "Big Night" which sells 46,000 (up 105%). The only other debut on the list in this sleepy week belongs to Sara Evans, who starts at No. 98 with "A Little Bit Stronger."
