Premiered on Sirius this morning as the new single. I have been completely underwhelmed by all 4 songs I've heard from this album. Wish them success, but also wish they'd make music that everyone likes again.

although it's not confirmed, they're leaning towards "Burning In The Skies".

This song is not from the album. This is the b-side that was a reward for completing the game they made to promote A Thousand Suns. I highly doubt this is going to be the actual single unless the label really has no hope for any other album tracks doing well at radio, which honestly I considered but seriously disappoints me if it's true. "Burning In The Skies" deserves a chance as does "Iridescent".

I love how Artie makes the post and it's always up to someone else to actually do the research.

Iridescent and Burning In the Skies definitely should be the ones for serious consideration; they're stellar.

Seems "underwhelmed" is the buzz word for this song.

Waiting For The End began its first week at #1 just this week. I believe The Catalyst peaked at #1 as well.

Using Billboard, of course. Its second week at #1 will run Jan 9 - 15.

Pen,
Blackbird was on the copy of A Thousand Suns that I bought in Week 1 from Best Buy. It underwhelmed me so much that I left it off the set of songs that I copied to my phone for regular listening. I also picked out Waiting for the End, Burning in the Skies, and Iridescent as the best next singles, with Robot Boy as a possible good choice and Whetches and Kings a possible choice that I just don't like.

It's called a bonus track. Also glad we kind of agree on the single options.

I'm probably in the minority here, but hearing this song for the first time, I like this better than I remember liking all the songs on A Thousand Suns other than "The Catalyst", "Robot Boy", "Wretches And Kings" and the good parts of "Blackout" when I listened a few months ago. Granted, since then, "Waiting For The End" has ascended from a 2/5 to a 4/5 for me in RateTheMusic surveys, so maybe I should give the rest of the album another chance.

I listened again and remembered my initial thoughts about this song. IMO, the first half of the song is a train wreck. Then, at 3:02, Mike's singing is about the best I've ever heard from him, and Chester's additions are a +. If this song could have been all that, it would be on my list of singles... wait a minute, Iridescent is a lot like that...

I can't believe this is better than anything left on the album. I do agree about the strong vocals, which has probably never been said about Linkin Park.
