Cissy Pens Open Letter To Bobbi KristinaDear Krissi I love you. My heart is full. I don’t know where to begin. You may think I don’t understand you and what you’re feeling but remember, Baby, I lost my mom when I was just a child. So, I do know some of the sadness and loneliness of your life since your mom passed away. Although I know her spirit is with you always, I cry with you and for you. I grieve with you and for you … for all of the days and nights you need to tell her something or ask her advice or just hear her voice … and she’s not there. For all of the times when you need to put your head in her lap or feel her arms around you and she’s not there … For the good and happy times you want to share with her; for the fun and laughter you enjoyed together, but she’s not there … for every day and every night you just miss her … I know. She was your mom and she was my child and Krissi, I loved her too, more than you might imagine. I know you were upset that I wrote my book, “Remembering Whitney”, but I hope one day you’ll read it and understand that I just wanted to let the world see some of My Nippy—the sweet, friendly, loving little girl with the extraordinary beauty and boundless talent, who grew into the superstar and musical icon the world saw. I want people to know—fans and critics and ordinary people alike—Nippy was a whole person, and like all of us, she was good and bad AND she was my joy! Krissi, all I want for you is your good health and your happiness. I want you to have a good life that you can be proud of. Do I want you to get married in the near future? No, I don’t. I think you’re too young and I wish you’d wait. But that’s because I’m Grandma. I’m supposed to worry about you. I’m supposed to wonder If Nick or ANY man is good enough for you, My Baby’s Baby. I’m not angry with Nick and I don’t think, nor did I ever say anything hurtful about him to anyone. I have NEVER publicly commented on your personal life and I don’t intend to. So in the future when you read or hear that Cissy Houston said this or Cissy Houston said that, be confident in the knowledge that it isn’t true. I try to believe that when your mother passed away the world decided that you belong to them as she did. I’m trying very hard to trust that people who make comments or offer their opinions about you are sincere in their desire for you to be happy. I can only hope they come to realize the best they can offer you is their prayers. Krissi, as many years as I’ve lived and as many experiences as I’ve had I know I don’t have all of the answers. I do know this, Baby Girl: God’s got you and so do I. With all my love, Grandma This is heartbreaking. I hope they can settle their issues, they both need to sit down and talk to eachother and straighten this out. Out of everybody in their family, Cissy and Bobbi Kristina are the ones who are grieving the most, this girl lost her mom and this woman lost her only daughter, they should be there for eachother more than anybody else. Whitney would not want this.

Where was this posted? Why not just send it to her? Don't know, it was an open letter sent to the media. I don't know if she's tried to contact Bobbi Kristina personally to no avail, maybe this was her last resort to make sure she got the message to her. Hopefully this doesn't make her more angry and push her even further away. It seems like she's been upset at Cissy ever since she wrote the book.

Their love for Whitney should be the common ground to bring them together and help them get through difficulties. It's just going to be harder if they drift further apart.

She was upset with Cissy for writing the book, and she hadn't even read a page. Probably still hasn't. Whitney was an enabler to Bobbi Kristina's bullshit. Cissy isn't. She combats it the same way she did Whitney. Whitney resisted. Now she's gone. And now Cissy is trying to reach out to Bobbi in the same way...but that little cunt is so blind to reality....

She was upset with Cissy for writing the book, and she hadn't even read a page. Probably still hasn't. Whitney was an enabler to Bobbi Kristina's bulls**t. Cissy isn't. She combats it the same way she did Whitney. Whitney resisted. Now she's gone. And now Cissy is trying to reach out to Bobbi in the same way...but that little c**t is so blind to reality.... I mean, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but don't you think calling her "that little cunt" is pretty harsh? The girl just lost her mother last year very sudden, shocking, tragic, and in a way that could've been completely avoidable. She's probably just angry, and some people don't know how to deal with grief well and it'll make one push people away, isolate themselves, feel angry at the world, and latch onto other's to fill that empty void. I know regular teenagers and kids all over the world lose their moms everyday, but not everyone's loss is so public and talked about by the entire world. I don't think it's fair to call her names and judge her when this major loss in her life is still so new, she probably doesn't truly know how to deal with it only one year later. She's upset because her grandma wrote a book about her mom so quickly after her passing, I can see why she's upset. She's under the impression it's a tell all and she feels like Cissy betrayed Whitney by writing about her troubles, but hopefully soon Bobbi Kris realizes the book doesn't disclose much more than what Whitney herself revealed during her Oprah interview, and I hope she realizes that and makes amends before it's too late. Cissy will be 80 this year, after all.

Such a nice article Whitney Houston: The Greatest of All 8/8/2013 What would the music world be today if there had been no Whitney Houston? It's impossible to guess, because the award-winning, chart-busting singer influenced popular music like few others have done. The era of the pop diva all but began when Houston boldly belted out her first songs, and generations of her followers have aspired to be the next Whitney. Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Christina Aguilera, Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson, Lady Gaga… each of them owes their place on the pop music map to the trail Houston first blazed. Today's music simply wouldn't sound like it does if Whitney Houston hadn't burst onto the scene in 1985 as the original pop music diva. Indeed, it was quite a scene she made with her debut album and the work that followed it. In addition to changing the face of pop music and electrifying radio listeners who were ready for her new sound, she smashed world records left and right. As we remember Whitney Houston on the eve of her 50th birthday, we're celebrating the singer's amazing life and legacy with a look at some of her songs and the records she broke with them. Best-selling debut album by a female artist. Houston's debut, aptly titled Whitney Houston, was quietly released in February of 1985. She was little-known at the time, with only a couple of duets (with Teddy Pendergrass and Jermaine Jackson) to her credit. But critics liked the album, and the lead single, "You Give Good Love," began a slow climb to No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. As more singles were released, the public caught on and began rushing to their record stores, eventually helping the album become the all-time best-selling debut by a female artist. Houston held the record for more than a decade (before being surpassed in 1999 by Britney Spears and Baby One More Time), and the album remains a remarkable debut, full of fantastic songs that range from soulful ballads to bright and cheery dance numbers. First album by a female artist to debut at No. 1. When Houston's second album, Whitney, was released in June of 1987, fans were ready for more. So excited was the music-buying public for this sophomore effort that they bought a record-breaking number of copies during its first days in stores, propelling it instantly to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. Debuting at No. 1 is not a common feat – only five albums had done it before Whitney, and none of them featured a female recording artist. Whitney and Whitney made history – and they did so with some great songs. Only artist to chart seven consecutive No. 1 singles. The first four singles from Whitney joined three from Whitney Houston to smash the record for most consecutive singles. In fact, Houston still holds the record she set back in the ‘80s – no other artist has ever charted seven No. 1 singles in a row on the Hot 100. Those seven classic tracks are "Saving All My Love for You," "How Will I Know," "Greatest Love of All," "I Wanna Dance With Somebody," "Didn't We Almost Have it All," "So Emotional," and "Where Do Broken Hearts Go." The list reads like a time capsule of mid-‘80s goodness – in those days, it was near impossible to listen to pop radio for more than an hour without hearing at least one Whitney Houston No. 1 hit. Best-selling single by a female artist. Houston's first two albums may have brought her an amazing string of hits, but her greatest triumph was yet to come. In 1992, Houston would take on her first movie role, a star turn in The Bodyguard, for which she also recorded the soundtrack's lead single. Today, what we remember best about the movie is Houston's stunning performance of "I Will Always Love You." The song of heartbreak, already lovely when sung by its writer, Dolly Parton, became transcendent in the hands of Whitney Houston. It topped just about every music chart that exists, and over time became the best-selling single by a female artist – a record it still holds. Most awarded female artist of all time. All of these best-selling singles were not just popular with Houston's fans. The critics and the award shows also knew they were listening to pure gold – and they gave her the accolades to back it up. With 30 Billboard Music Awards, 22 American Music Awards, six Grammys, two Emmys, and more – upwards of 500 awards in total – Houston is certified by Guinness World Records as the female artist with the most awards of all time… another record she is likely to hold for a long time to come. We could go on and on – when it comes to Whitney Houston’s record-breaking achievements, we’ve only scratched the surface. Had Houston been able to overcome the personal problems that derailed her professionally and contributed to her early death, she might still be here, adding further successes to her long list of triumphs. As it is, the music we have now is all we'll ever have – but it's a beautiful record of a fantastic career. www.legacy.com/ns/news-story.aspx?t=whitney-houston-the-greatest-of-all&id=1459

..Chart Watch Extra: Whitney’s 50th Birthday ..By Paul Grein .
Here are just a few of the records she set:
•In June 1987, Whitney became the first album by a female artist to enter The Billboard 200 album chart at #1. •In April 1988, Houston became the first artist (male, female or group) to reach #1 on the Hot 100 with seven consecutive chart hits. (The old record of six was held jointly by the Beatles and Bee Gees.) •In February 1993, “I Will Always Love You” became the first single in the “rock era” (which dates to 1955) to log 14 weeks at #1. Houston headed The Billboard 200 for a total of 46 weeks, which is more than any other female artist since 1955. Her debut album, Whitney Houston, topped the chart for 14 weeks in 1986. Her sophomore album, Whitney, held the top spot for 11 weeks in 1987. The Bodyguard soundtrack stayed on top for 20 weeks in 1992-1993. Houston’s final studio album, I Look To You, spent one week on top in 2009.
Houston is the only female artist to release three albums that each logged 10 or more weeks at #1. The only other artists to achieve this feat are the Beatles and Elvis Presley (each of whom has four) and the Kingston Trio.
Houston had the #1 album of the year on Billboard’s year-end chart recaps twice. Whitney Houston was #1 for 1986. The Bodyguard soundtrack was #1 for 1993. Just two other artists, Elton John and 50 Cent, have had the year’s top album twice with different albums. (Two other artists, Michael Jackson and Adele, had the year’s top album twice with the same album.)
It’s hard to imagine now, but Whitney Houston was a sleeper hit. The album entered the chart at #166 and took 23 weeks to break into the top 10. Whitney got off to a much faster start. It was only the fifth album, and the first by a female artist, to debut at #1.
The Bodyguard has sold 12,069,000 copies, more than any other soundtrack since 1991, when Nielsen SoundScan began tracking music sales. (Only five albums of any type have sold more copies in this period: Metallica’s Metallica, Shania Twain’s Come On Over, Alanis Morissette’s Jagged Little Pill, Backstreet Boys’ Millennium and the Beatles’ 1.)
Houston had 39 Hot 100 hits, including 23 that made the top 10. Eleven went all the way to #1. Houston is one of only seven artists since 1955 to amass 11 or more #1 singles on what is now the Hot 100. The others are the Beatles (20), Mariah Carey (18), Elvis Presley (17), Michael Jackson (13), The Supremes (12) and Madonna (12). (Carey is the only artist who emerged after Houston broke big in 1985 to surpass her.)
“I Will Always Love You” was Houston’s biggest hit. In January 1993, it became only the second single to be certified for U.S. sales of 4 million physical copies by the Recording Industry Assn. of America. (The first was USA for Africa’s 1985 humanitarian anthem “We Are The World.”)
“I Will Always Love You” has sold 4,591,000 physical singles and 2,016,000 digital copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. (It had sold only 910K digital copies by the time of her death.)
Eleven of Houston’s 39 Hot 100 hits were drawn from movies in which she starred or co-starred. In addition, she teamed with Mariah Carey to record “When You Believe” for the soundtrack of the animated movie The Prince Of Egypt. (They performed it on the Oscars in March 1999, where it won as Best Song.) She recorded two of her hits for TV mega-events: “One Moment In Time” for the 1988 Summer Olympics; “The Star Spangled Banner” for the 1991 Super Bowl.
The latter song made the top 20 when it was first released and zoomed into the top 10 when it was re-released in the wake of 9/11. Houston’s is the only rendition of the national anthem to make the top 40 since Billboard introduced weekly national pop charts in 1940.
Houston first hit the Hot 100 in June 1984 as a featured artist on Teddy Pendergrass’ “Hold Me.” She first charted on her own in May 1985 with “You Give Good Love,” which rose to #3.
Several of Houston’s hits had been recorded by other artists before Houston made them her own. These include “Saving All My Love For You” (first recorded by Marilyn McCoo & Billy Davis Jr.), “Greatest Love Of All” (George Benson), “All The Man That I Need” (Sister Sledge), “I Will Always Love You” (Dolly Parton), “I’m Every Woman” (Chaka Khan), “I Believe In You And Me” (The Four Tops) and “The Star Spangled Banner (numerous artists, including Jimi Hendrix and Jose Feliciano).
Houston died the afternoon of Feb. 11, 2012, a day before the Grammys were presented at Staples Center in Los Angeles. The timing was surreal, but somehow fitting: Houston was, for many years, a Grammy darling. In February 1986, when Houston was just 22, she sang her #1 hit “Saving All My Love For You” on the telecast, and moments later won her first Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Performance, Female. (The award was presented by her cousin Dionne Warwick, which undoubtedly made the moment all the sweeter for her.)
Seven months later, Houston’s performance on the show brought her an Emmy for Outstanding Individual Performance in a Variety or Music Program. It was the first time that someone had won an Emmy for a performance on a Grammy telecast. It was an indication of what a big star Houston had become, that even the TV community wanted to give her some affirmation.
Houston had other big nights at the Grammys. In 1988, when she was 24, she performed her #1 smash “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me),” which brought her a second Grammy in the pop female category. The following year, she was chosen to open the telecast with “One Moment In Time.”
In 1994, she was again chosen to open the telecast with “I Will Always Love You.” She won three Grammys that night, for Record of the Year, Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Performance, Female.
Houston won her sixth (and last) Grammy in February 2000, when “It’s Not Right But It’s Okay” was voted Best Female R&B Vocal Performance. That was her only win in the R&B field.
Just as the Grammys charted Houston’s phenomenal rise, they also reflected her struggles in later years. Her 2009 album I Look To You didn’t receive a single nomination. The album debuted at #1 on The Billboard 200, and has sold more than a million copies, but its songs didn’t really take off as singles. The title song, written by R. Kelly, peaked at #70 on the Hot 100. “Million Dollar Bill,” co-written by Alicia Keys, stalled at #100. The intended anthem “I Didn’t Know My Own Strength,” written by Diane Warren, “bubbled under” the Hot 100 at #119.
There was a big run on Houston’s albums and songs in the weeks following her death—just as there had been in 2009 following Michael Jackson’s death. Three of her albums returned to the top 10 on The Billboard 200. Whitney: The Greatest Hits, which had peaked at #5 when it was released in 2000, shot to #2, where it spent three weeks (behind Adele’s unstoppable 21). The Bodyguard soundtrack rebounded to #6. Her debut album climbed to #9.
Four of her biggest hits re-entered the Hot 100: “I Will Always Love You” (at #3), “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)” at #25, “Greatest Love Of All” (at #36) and “How Will I Know” (at #49).
Houston’s catalog of albums (excluding soundtracks) sold 1,825,000 copies in the year following her death. That’s more than it sold in the seven years preceding her death (1,727,000)—a period in which she released a new studio album.
Jackson and Houston had much in common. Both were the most famous members of prominent musical families (Cissy Houston, who sang a backing vocal on “How Will I Know,” was Houston’s mother; Dionne Warwick and Dee Dee Warwick were her cousins). Jackson and Houston both reached their peaks in the 1980s and early ‘90s. Houston’s 1987 album Whitney debuted at #1 and spawned four #1 singles. Jackson’s Bad, which was released just three months later, debuted at #1 and spawned five #1 singles.
Now, of course, they also share the fact that they both died in mid-life: Jackson was 50; Houston, just 48.
Houston’s death the day before the Grammys doubtless increased the size of the TV audience. The show had a total audience of 39.9 million, which was up nearly 50% from the previous year’s audience of 26.7 million. It was the second highest rated Grammy telecast ever, topped only by the 1984 show when a red-hot Michael Jackson swept the awards.
In the wake of Houston’s death, Adele broke two of Houston’s records. The week following Houston’s death, Adele’s album, 21, surpassed The Bodyguard soundtrack for the longest run at #1 by a female artist since The Billboard 200 became a weekly feature in 1956. 21 spent a total of 24 weeks on top. The Bodyguard held the top spot for 20 weeks.
Three months after Houston’s death, Adele’s DVD Live At The Royal Albert Hall surpassed Houston’s The #1 Video Hits for the longest run at #1 by a female artist since Billboard’s Top Music Videos chart was introduced in 1985. Adele’s DVD has logged 28 weeks at #1, compared to 22 for Houston’s 1986 video.
In addition to her successes on records, Houston starred or co-starred in four theatrical movies (The Bodyguard, Waiting To Exhale, The Preacher’s Wife and Sparkle) and one TV movie (Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella). She served as an executive producer on the latter project, which brought her an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Special of 1997.)
The Fine Print: The latest edition of Joel Whitburn’s Top Pop Singles 1955-2012 shows 48 Hot 100 hits for Houston. So how do I get 39? I’m not counting the four songs that re-entered the chart after her death as new hits. I’m also not “double-counting” “The Star Spangled Banner.” I’m not counting “I Didn’t Know My Own Strength,” which merely “bubbled under” the chart. And I’m not counting three songs from 1993-1994 that made the Hot 100 Airplay chart (which is distinct from the Hot 100).

Whitney Houston's 50th birthday: Digital Spy's favorite songs Today (August 9) marks what would have been Whitney Houston's 50th birthday. The singer died one-and-a-half years ago aged 48, when she was found dead in her hotel room on the eve of the Grammys. In memory of her fantastic music, Digital Spy writers have discussed their favorite Whitney Houston songs below. 'My Love Is Your Love' (1999) - Robert Copsey, Music Editor
I was 11 when Whitney released her My Love Is Your Love album - her first in eight years - meaning it was my first real introduction to her. The title track remains one of my favorites today and its lyrics ("If I should die this very day/ Don't cry, 'cause on Earth we weren't meant to stay") took on a whole new meaning after her death. 'I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)' (1987) - Alex Fletcher, Deputy Editor
No office Christmas party or high street night out is complete without this honking giant slap of '80s pop. With a chorus the size of a small Eastern European country and Whitney's powerhouse vocals, it is scientifically* impossible to not sing along when this track bursts into life. (*Not actually scientific fact.) 'It's Not Right But It's Okay' (1999) - Catriona Wightman, US News Editor
Everyone goes for the clichés with Whitney, but when 'It's Not Right But It's Okay' came out when I was 10, I was instantly hooked. My parents couldn't believe it when I asked for a Whitney album, given that I was mostly concerned with Boyzone, Aqua and the Spice Girls at the time, but something about the beat of this song in particular grabbed me. It was only when I was older that I began to appreciate how ass-kicky the lyrics are. 'I'd rather be alone than unhappy'? 'Don't you dare come running back to me'? 'I'm moving on and I refuse to turn back'? 'There's no more tears left here for you to see?' This song is a proper anthem, and it never gets old. 'I Have Nothing' (1993) - Sam Rigby, Entertainment Reporter
Like many of Whitney's power ballads, 'I Have Nothing' may have been covered countless times on X Factor-style talent shows but nothing comes close to matching the sheer power of the late star's original vocal. It was the first Whitney song that I loved and remains my favorite to this day. 'How Will I Know' (1985) - Lewis Corner, Music Reporter
We all know Whitney can belt out a power ballad, but boy can she also deliver on a bouncy pop gem. 'How Will I Know' was her first foray into getting the '80s shaking their behinds and it's still doing a belter of a job 28 years later. 'Nothin' But Love' (2009) - Mayer Nissim, News Editor
A UK radio buzztrack released amid rehab rumors and the whines of unhappy concertgoers, Whitney took on the haters without crying, moaning or wallowing in victimhood. She point blank refuses to hold on to pain or blame others for her f**k-ups and instead turns the other cheek. A poignant, bittersweet, funky farewell from an old-school pop superstar. Whitney is still the #1 trend on twitter. Beyonce put a beautiful picture of Whitney on her website to acknowledge her birthday Also, Clive Davis dropped the news during the SiriusXM Whitney Houston Birthday Tribute earlier today that they're working on a live Whitney album to "showcase how she was even greater on stage."

A live Whitney album? That will be great- a little later, but some official audio of her vocal heyday is more than welcome.

Billboard: Whitney Houston's Billboard Chart Records By Gary Trust | August 09, 2013 10:14 AM EDT Here's a look back at the many chart achievements that the gifted vocalist accomplished. To celebrate the 50th birthday (August 9) of the late, great Whitney Houston, here's a look back at the many chart achievements that the gifted vocalist accomplished. ALBUM CHART QUEEN: Almost no woman led the Billboard 200 albums chart quite like Houston. The Houston-led soundtrack to "The Bodyguard" stands as the second-longest-reigning album by a woman in the 57-year history of the survey. Here's a look at the elite albums by solo females to have spent the most time atop the tally: Weeks at No. 1, Title, Artist, Year Reached No. 1 24 weeks, "21," Adele, 2011 20 weeks, "The Bodyguard" soundtrack/Whitney Houston, 1992 15 weeks, "Tapestry," Carole King, 1971 14 weeks, "Whitney Houston," Whitney Houston, 1986 13 weeks, "Judy at Carnegie Hall," Judy Garland, 1961 12 weeks, "Jagged Little Pill," Alanis Morissette, 1995 12 weeks, "Fearless, " Taylor Swift, 2008 11 weeks, "Mariah Carey," Mariah Carey, 1991 11 weeks, "Whitney," Whitney Houston, 1987 10 weeks, "Forever Your Girl," Paula Abdul, 1989 10 weeks, "The Singing Nun," the Singing Nun, 1963 Houston is the only woman to have tallied reigns of more than 10 weeks with multiple albums. While no other woman has more than one such set, Houston had three: "The Bodyguard" (20 weeks), "Whitney Houston"(14) and "Whitney" (11). With Houston also leading for a week in 2009 with her last studio album, "I Look to You," her 46 total weeks at the Billboard 200 summit are the most among women. INSTANT SUCCESS: Four years before the practice became the norm upon the advent of Nielsen SoundScan electronic point-of-sale data, Houston scored the first No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200 for a female performer. The week of June 27, 1987, "Whitney" launched at the chart's top spot, where it held for its first 11 weeks. It remained in the top 10 for its first 31 weeks, through Jan. 23, 1988. STRONG SEVEN: Houston holds the Billboard Hot 100 record for most consecutive No. 1 singles, having tallied seven in-a-row from 1985 through 1988. Here is a look at her unequaled chart-topping streak: Date Reached No. 1, Title (Weeks at No. 1) Oct. 26, 1985, "Saving All My Love for You" (one) Feb. 15, 1986, "How Will I Know" (two) May 17, 1986, "Greatest Love of All" (three) June 27, 1987, "I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)" (two) Sept. 26, 1987, "Didn't We Almost Have It All" (two) Jan. 9, 1988, "So Emotional" (one) April 23, 1988, "Where Do Broken Hearts Go" (two) Even when her streak ended, Houston's next four solo singles all reached the Hot 100's top 10. (She missed only with "It Isn't, It Wasn't, It Ain't Never Gonna Be," a sassy superstar duet with Aretha Franklin). With 11 career Hot 100 No. 1s, Houston trails only Mariah Carey (18) and Madonna and Rihanna (12 each) for the most among women. Janet Jackson rounds out the category's top five with 10 leaders. 'EX'-TRAORDINARY: Houston's "Exhale (Shoop, Shoop)" is one of 14 songs by women to have debuted at No. 1 in the Hot 100's history. The song, from the "Waiting to Exhale" soundtrack, opened atop the Nov. 25, 1995, Hot 100. "Exhale" also led R&B/Hip-Hop Songs for eight frames, becoming one of her eight No. 1s on the tally. Houston additionally notched 10 leading titles on Adult Contemporary, making her one of just seven artists to reach the double-digit mark in the chart's 52-year archives. ALWAYS BE LOVED: When Houston's remake of Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You" wrapped its 14-week run atop the Hot 100 in 1993, the song stood as the longest-leading title since the chart's Aug. 4, 1958, inception. To-date, only Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men's "One Sweet Day" (16 weeks, 1995-96) has surpassed the reign (also matched by five other songs). Said Parton, who wrote "Always," upon Houston's passing, "Mine is only one of the millions of hearts broken over the death of Whitney Houston. I will always be grateful and in awe of the wonderful performance she did on my song. "I can truly say from the bottom of my heart, 'Whitney, I will always love you.' "You will be missed."

EXCLUSIVE: James Blunt pays tribute to Whitney Houston in the new acoustic video for Miss America
Just as Elton John paid tribute to the tragic life of Marilyn Monroe - and later Princess Diana - James Blunt recalls the late Whitney Houston in his new single Miss America.
In the brand new track from his fourth studio album Moon Landing, James offers an acoustic ballad which speaks of the personal connection fans feel they have with singers, musicians and bands because of the media spotlight upon them.
Allowing the lyrics and melodies to work for themselves, the music video just shows Blunt, 39, with simply a grand piano as his accompaniment.
The allusions to Whitney are clear from the first line which asks 'did someone give you something to help you ease the pain, like the liquor in a bottle we watched you slip away.'
Last year, on February 11, Houston was found unconscious and submerged in the bathtub of her her suite at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, and was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of death was down to the 'effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use' according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office.
Considered one of the greatest singers of all time, her loss was felt across the world, and just like the reaction to Princess Diana's death in 1997, Whitney's death caused global mourning for the people, like James, who felt like they knew her 'through the bars of a song'.
A sombre first release from Blunt's upcoming album, his following tracks will continue an emotionally charged theme. The 39-year old singer worked again with producer Tom Rothrock - who worked with James on his multi-platinum selling debut Back To Bedlam - and also brought in Martin Terefe who has credits in the musical work of KT Tunstall, Martha Wainwright and Jason Mraz.

Exclusive: Whitney Houston Estate Preparing Documentary About Late Singer 08/31/13 1:28am Roger Friedman Exclusive: details are still sketchy, but I am told that the Whitney Houston estate is putting together a documentary about the late singer. Executor Pat Houston, Whitney’s sister-in-law, is said to be the executive producer. The film could offer rare home footage and that sort of thing, but it certainly won’t be an objective film about Whitney’s rise and fall. It will most likely be a tribute film, much like the current One Direction infomercial in theaters now. One thing about so-called documentaries about star singers: you can’t make ‘em unless the principle performer or their estate agrees not to block rights usage of music and/or likeness. If a journalist were to make a film about Whitney Houston, the estate would block the rights to use her music. It’s too bad, because an actual doc about Whitney would try to examine what happened to her. This will likely be a rah-rah celebration. We’ll see what happens, It will be interesting to see how they handle Bobbi Kristina shacking up with the boy Whitney took in, and everything about Bobby Brown. That movie might be made in 20 years, but not now…

I'm Your Baby Tonight on the list? Call me shocked! I would've thought Exhale (Shoop Shoop), Greatest Love Of All or All The Man That I Need would be in her top 9 before IYBT. I wonder which AC formats are playing it most? Regular AC or Urban AC.
Weird...

"Exhale" usually pops up in her 10 most-played- it may well have been the missing one. :)
The last info I saw was back in early May- IYBT was ranked among her 10 most-played that week, too. I'd guess Urban AC accounts for a good amount of play for some songs- i.e. YGGL, Exhale. The top-played ones probably get a good chunk from AC.

"Exhale" indeed was the missing one, at No. 10. I updated the post- so, that's in excess of 1,900 spins for her 10 most-played tracks.
