Hope Nicki get's that #1. Me too...let's see what SNL will do. Usually Monday sales and somewhat Sunday sales are impacted after SNL. The sales tracking week is Monday-Sunday so her SNL appearance will really only impact Sunday's sales for next week's chart.

What impacted Nicki's sales this week, seeing as the SNL gig hasn't happened yet and the projection is a solid increase from last week's sales?

Wisin & Yandel have to get the top spot. I actually bought this album of theirs just to support their quest ... and I don't buy many albums anymore. "Zun Zun Rompiendo Caderas" is a hotter song than any of the other gringo shit in the top 10.
Shame Calle 13 totally missed the top 200 if W&Y can top the chart. That doesn´t make sense to me, as C13 as so much critical buzz and W&Y don't.

Strong sales in Puerto Rico for W&Y?? That's just a huge low when a US territory of 3.7 million people is the coin toss in deciding the top album debut this week. Pathetic.

I remember when Shakira's "Fijacion Oral" sold 155K first week, about 17K of its sales were from Puerto Rico... so those Puerto Rican sales must be massive.

I had great difficulty finding this album in Colorado. So yes, the sales must be A) in very Hispanic places of the US or Puerto Rico (Colorado is reasonably Hispanic), and B) in physical stores (it is not on discount at any of the online places and is not inside the top 30 at Amazon or iTunes.) Nice to know that Puerto Ricans still support their culture. When I was in Puerto Rico last year, there was Reggaeton everywhere ... way more dominant than any one genre here.

I hope P!nk can make the top 10, but she should at least outpeak herself this week.

Yeah I have my Wisin y Yandel copy with me too. Solid album. :) and it has a shot of topping the billboard top 200!! :o But I'm satisfy with a top 5. I think American radio stations should start playing more Latin pop hits on the radio too :). There are amazing latin singers who make great hits! If they were played on English stations, they were bigger. But anyway, by looking the success of Pitbull,Enrique, Shakira, Daddy Yankee, Wisin y Yandel, Aventura and other hispanic artists on the charts, I can say that it's just matter of time that American radio stations will be more open to play more music of different lenguages. :)

La Tortura almost made the CHR Top 50 (it was 51 for a few days) and had no English. You'd think artists like Daddy Yankee and Wisin & Yandel would at least try to release singles. If nothing else, wouldn't the CHR-pop stations in, say, Houston, LA, San Diego, Phoenix and Miami play them? That should get you just about to top 50 alone, right? Tell me CHRs in Hispanic markets wouldn't be willing to give this a shot: (not one of the best songs of the album, by the way, but it has an English chrous) --

Anything important coming out next week? Nicki could potentially manage 2 weeks at #1 from the SNL effect. I can't wait for post-Grammy sales. Then Adele, then Jay-Z/Kanye, then Avril/Lupe, then Britney. Not too much longer in this rut. jennifer hudson is in that bunch too <3

Meanwhile, over in the UK, the number 1 album next week will probably debut with around 250,000 in sales. "21" will most likely sell 100K less than with that, but those will still be impressive figures, mind. She sold 208K in the UK last week. Amazing.

The good news, if there is any, is that there are a lot of increases throughout the top 50 - Nicki Minaj, Mumford & Sons, Pink, Jason Aldean, Eminem, Black Keys, Lady Antebellum, Justin Bieber and many more.

Did Nicki's 49% gain stem solely from one day of SNL exposure? Or was there other promo or discounts in play?
