Hi all, Just a question bout an old 90's tune. Are there two different mixes of this song. I just listened to the hex future retro radio mix and it is completely different than the hex mix I'm used to and have had for years. When I search I am only finding the hex future retro mix as official. Is the one I have (which sounds like the club) an unofficial edit or do the mixes come from this cd below? eil.com/shop/moreinfo.asp?catalogid=383420I feel as though the hex hector mix is more popular than the hex future radio, but I could be wrong. Which one was played on 103.5 back in 1999? ???

Yeah, I realize the club mixes are, but the radio edits are not.
I was wondering if they were unofficial, since the only official edit I've seen was the hex future retro edit.

That's actually a fascinating question! I've been a die-hard Deborah Cox remix collector for years, and never even noticed there wasn't a Hex Hector Club Edit! I even checked every single release on Discogs: www.discogs.com/Deborah-Cox-Its-Over-Now/master/101082 -- and nothing! I'm guessing the radio station must've chopped down their own homemade radio edit from the full club mix (which is not uncommon actually - I used to do this myself back in my radio days) This was the closest I found to a Hex club edit:

KTU routinely did edits of longer remixes back in the day. The re-emergence of this thread has spurred my interest in finding out more about some of the ones they did which ended up actually getting released promotionally. I saw a handful of them appeared on some of the Promo Only comps. The edit KTU played of ReAct's "Let's Go All The Way" which was made using the Johnny Vicious mixes was pretty good. Each mix on it's own left something to be desired. The incorporation of that riff from the dub really made a difference. Local station Party 92.7 used to play that version when they were on the air. I had a heck of a time finding it. I eventually re-created it myself.
Speaking of the KTU exclusive versions, I know they sometimes played special remixes of some songs which were totally brand new productions. There was reportedly a special remix of "Have You Ever" by Brandy (possibly done by George Calle) that they played which was very Soul Solution-esque. I have never heard it, but am very curious about it since I really loved that song and was disappointed that there were no official dance remixes of it. I haven't found any other info other than they played such a mix. It was mentioned many years ago in a Brandy remixes thread on this board that George Calle may have done that mix. I attempted to contact him but have yet to receive a reply on the subject.

Sometimes I actually prefer the radio edit to the full club mix.
The thunderpuss radio edit of jlo "alive" from the jenny from the block part 2 cd single was really well done and had a great intro plus it didn't have the annoying organ gospel part at the end like the club mix. The thunderpuss radio of "stranger in my house " on the cd single sucked because it didn't have the entire pop quiz WOOOOO part for some reason. The video edit of the tp mix DOES have that part thank goodness.
I hate when the edits are super short. Under 3 and a half minutes is just too short. Right at four is perfect. Deb Cooper "are u satisfied?" calderone edit is way too short as is the orange factory edit of "fire" by dolce. I was also very bummed at how short the original version of widelife "all things" is!
Another really annoying edit was Pusaka "addicted" Bc they decided to put a loud noise over "Fu*king my friends" instead of just removing the word. Whatever that noise was really Hurt my ears and I can't imagine hearing that on some dance radio station. Shame because that is one of THE BEST dance tracks ever in my mind.
I typically love radio edits when they end cold with a bit of pella. "easy as life " has a great edit Bc it has the "oh you yea-eah"
The moran/rigg edit of "house is not a home" actually has a whole bridge not found in the club mix. Same goes for hex's edit of Mel c "I turn to you." I always found those two to be odd for that.
I cannot stand edits that fade out.

I looked for this mix for years and then finally gave up, but I do remember it being AMAZING! (Oh, and I believe that the Soul Skank remix was official, but it was not the remix that KTU played). Another re-edit that KTU played was for the Thunderpuss mix for Whitney's It's Not Right... Their mix was longer than the edit, but shorter than the full club mix.

Yup, this is indeed the George Calle mix you're thinking of. "One of my all time favorite remixes I worked on" were his exact words :)
