K-Rock has a show that goes back to the 80s and 90s with "classic alternative rock" starting today weekdays from 12-1.
I think I'm starting to see a domino effect (such as the End in Seattle and another alternative station in Atlanta). The difference though is that they're only dedicating 5 hours of the week out of this compared to those that have gone mostly "classic alternative".

I was just going to post about this.
Actually, a couple weekends ago they did a "Resurrection Weekend" where they played classic alternative all weekend. I went out of my way to listen to the radio during that weekend. It was awesome. And I will be listening to this show regularly as well.
Now, hopefully this will result in them increasing the amount of gold they play. I'm sick of hearing the same OLD songs every time I turn on the station.

99X has done a retro lunch show for some time now. The classic alternative format started taking off when KBZT came on the air with their unique alternative format and knocked off 91X as San Diego's top alternative station. I'm not sure if classic alternative would be as popular now if KBZT didn't step in and do it.
