How much has GaGa sold physically? It seems Katy is going to #1, but barely 10 points

The biggest gainers (today): JENNIFER LOPEZ f/ PITBULL - On The Floor: 27.673 (+ 1.188) It takes radio too long to keep up with music buying public.

182 + 109 = 291 for Gaga 261 + 58 = 319 for Katy
That's a lot more than "barely 10 points." Looks like Katy has it on lock.
Wow I'm an idiot -- my math was way off for Katy, edited to be fixed (originally I had 339)

Hot Country Songs is just airplay. (I believe they were considering blending digital sales to the chart last year but the record industry balked. Same thing happened with Hot R&B Songs chart.)
And its airplay - like all the other radio charts - is one day off-cycle with Hot 100 airplay, so often the highest ranking country song on Hot 100 airplay is not the #1 on Hot Country Songs that week.

It's not a matter of radio catching up with the public, in regards to Ms. Lopez- they will not give heavy out-of-the-gate play to a 40+ act, especially one who has not scored a big hit in years, out of the gate. "On the Floor" still trails the Mediabase peak of "Hung Up" (when Madge was 48). It looks like it may peak higher, based on its current trends, but it's still not going to be a BIG airplay hit. Katy Perry is turning into a modern Hot 100 monster. RiRi better watch her back.

i'm glad Katy is gonna put all those ultra pressed haters to rest...finally. I'm so happy for her. What an incredible streak she's had! 4 #1's in a fuggin row! Watch out MJ, she's comin to snatch your nose.
and this also proves once again those pop bars are very misleading. It didn't seem (even with combined bars) that Katy sold what...90k more than Rihanna. It looked and seemed like it would be more like 40-50.

www.billboard.com/#/news/adele-returns-to-no-1-on-albums-chart-glee-1005086632.storyOver on the Digital Songs chart, Katy Perry's "E.T." (featuring Kanye West) retains the No. 1 slot, selling 261,000 downloads (up 21%). Right behind her is the "Glee" Cast, which debuts at No. 2 with "Loser Like Me" (210,000). It's the "Glee" kids' second-best sales week yet for a song -- surpassed only by "Teenage Dream's" 213,000 debut at No. 1 last November. The "Glee" Cast also bows in the top 10 this week at No. 6 with "Get It Right" (151,000). Both "Loser" and "Right" mark the first time "Glee" has charted with songs written specifically for the show. Listen: 'Glee' Original Songs, 'Loser Like Me' and 'Get It Right,' Debut The Black Eyed Peas' "Just Can't Get Enough" flies 18-3 (198,000; up 143%) in the wake of the act's performance of the song on "American Idol" last week, while Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" gets pushed back one slot to No. 4 -- despite a 3% gain (182,000). Rihanna's "S&M" falls one to No. 5 (170,000; up 1%), Chris Brown's "Look at Me Now" is up three to No. 7 (142,000; up 21%) and Jennifer Lopez's "On the Floor" falls six rungs to No. 8 (139,000; down 36%). Rounding out the top 10 is Cee Lo Green's "F**k You (Forget You)" falling three to No. 9 (138,000; down 12%) and Ke$ha's "Blow," falling three as well, to No. 10 (122,000; down 13%). Down at No. 57, we find YouTube sensation Rebecca Black, who debuts with her much-maligned (but incredibly popular) single "Friday," selling 37,000. We'll have to wait until the Billboard Hot 100 is compiled -- later today and early tomorrow morning -- to see if Black's bow will be enough for her to debut on the iconic Hot 100 tally. EDIT: Digital track sales this past week totaled 24.92 million downloads, up 3% compared to last week (24.28 million) and up 20% stacked next to the comparable week of 2010 (20.68 million). Year to date track sales are at 289.91 million, up 8% compared to the same total at this point last year (268.76 million). :o

Yes, colson- I have that in common with a lot of others, apparently- in the musical and non-musical worlds. :) Some apparently don't understand the U.S. ageism at radio- which is fine- hence, the reminder. If everyone understood it, it would not warrant mention.

Watch out MJ, she's comin to snatch your nose. Although she already needed a new version to reach the top this soon. However, I believe E.T. could've made it without Kanye West eventually too. Fifth one will be very tough but possible with a re-release. But then MJ's record would be a bit bigger achievement in my books.

I see her in a bit of a same position was Fergie was with The Dutchess. She had three number ones and one no. 2 hit from that album the biggest being the third no. 1 Big Girls Don't Cry. Then Clumsy reached "only" no. 5 despite the awesome video.

Katy has great chances of getting a 5th no. 1, but, then, she'd only match MJ's record from over 20 years ago (although she'd be regarded as the first and only female to do so). Hardly "snatching his wig".
And, yes, it is still funny how her career was deemed dead because Britney, Gaga and Kesha would overshadow her.
