If Gaga is #1 (Perez has been wrong in the past!) her single is supposed to have sold 20-30K and streaming may have tipped it in her favor. I still don't see how Katy wouldn't be #1 even with the physical single and streaming though. Like, even if the physical single sold 30K and she somehow gets 10K in streaming it still wouldn't put her at #1? Her physical single sold 24k and there was a 30k difference, meaning if she got 6+ from streaming, she would be #1.

For some reason, I though the difference was more like 40-50 points. I guess she could have slipped in then. Katy will get it next week though guaranteed and possibly more weeks after that.

Would 6 points be 60 million views or 6 million?

Would 6 points be 60 million views or 6 million? well it's not 60 million views, lol. it's most likely 6 million AI from streaming, and then 1 or 2 clicks from that video.

Is the version of ET getting most of the points even on or planned to be on any release of Teenage Dream?
I wonder if S&M still has a chance eventually of #1.
I just noticed Kelly and Keri both in T20 airplay. Good for them.

Given that streaming is a factor, I wonder how that will affect Rebecca Black's chart position? She sold 37,000 downloads this week, so she should hit the Hot 100 on that alone.

If GaGa is still #1 dont forget the BTW single ep... Oh and ET isn't that strange, i like it, but it's still like a retread of ATTSS by TaTU and that did ...Top 20? in 2003.....? I've never notice any similarity to Tatu before. Even after you said that I still can't really hear anything in my head that seems like a copy. What's supposed to be the similarity?

I think Perez got conformation from Gaga's label. Sometimes labels can inquire and find out in advance in IDJ did for Only Girl.

I'm pretty sure streaming does not include YouTube. I tried searching and the only sources I found for streaming are AOL Music and Yahoo Music, both being music-only (not videos).
I guess I hear the ET/Tatu thing now -- but it doesn't seem like a retread by any means. Katy is using a similar melody to one part of Tatu's bridge, the songs overall are quite different.
I really don't think ET sounds quite like anything else that became a big hit at radio. The closest I can think of is maybe Like a G6 in terms of electro feel.

I thought video streams counted, but maybe not. I do recall Billboard adding a couple other outlets for streaming (i.e. Napster and Rhapsody). And it may add more, if it has not already: www.businesswire.com/news/home/20110308007038/enThe Nielsen Company Expands its Music Streaming Measurement to Include Vevo, Slacker, MOG, Thumbplay, Akoo & CricketNielsen Captures more than 1 Billion Streams in the First Six Weeks of 2011 NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Nielsen Company (NYSE:NLSN), a global leader in providing insights into what consumers watch and buy, today announced a significant expansion of its streaming panel, adding well known services including Vevo, Slacker, MOG, Thumbplay, Akoo, and Cricket. Data from these services, and from the existing reporting panel consisting of AOL, Napster, Rhapsody, Verizon Wireless and Yahoo!, is now included in the Nielsen BDS Encore system. “Adding Vevo, Slacker, MOG, Thumbplay, Akoo and Cricket, allows us to offer weekly aggregated streaming charts and analytics better representing all online activity.” During the first six weeks of 2011, Nielsen tracked more than 1.1 billion music streams through online music streaming services. More than 165 million streams per week are captured and nearly 26 million weekly song downloads are tracked. The week following the GRAMMY Awards, Nielsen captured more than 192 million streams; an increase of 22% over the previous week. “Over the past six months, we have actively added more Internet-based music services to the BDS streaming panel, providing clients and the music industry with a ever more comprehensive view of online music consumption,” states Chris Muratore, Vice President of Merchant Services and Emerging Growth for Nielsen Entertainment. “Adding Vevo, Slacker, MOG, Thumbplay, Akoo and Cricket, allows us to offer weekly aggregated streaming charts and analytics better representing all online activity.” Nielsen is the only company able to provide weekly trending information on streaming activity, as well as a more granular understanding of from where consumers stream music. Nielsen also provides insights on the type of streams; on-demand streams, those songs/videos that consumers choose to listen to, versus programmed streams, or when songs are not chosen by the consumer. Additionally, only Nielsen provides the music industry with comprehensive physical and digital music sales information, radio airplay as well as streaming activity. * Nielsen BDS has tracked streaming activity from AOL and Yahoo! for the past three years and added Napster and Rhapsody April 2010. * Nielsen SoundScan is the only service measuring all digital music sales from every major digital service in the U.S. and Canada, as well as all full-track downloads purchased through mobile devices in the U.S. * Nielsen SoundScan tracks physical sales in the U.S. and Canada, digital sales in U.S. and Canada as well as in 30+ countries worldwide including most major music markets around the world. * Nielsen BDS & Music Control currently monitor music from more than 1,700 terrestrial and satellite radio stations in real time in the U.S. and Canada, and more than 700 stations across 20 European countries and Mexico.

Vevo is part of YouTube though, so it sounds like streams of Vevo-hosted YouTube videos count now. That's great news. Is Rebecca Black's video a Vevo one? Should could end up with a much bigger debut than anyone expected!
I remember this being an issue when Gaga's Bad Romance was out. Many felt it would have hit #1 if YouTube streams had been counted but at the time they were not.

If "E.T." and "Born This Way" are THISclose, then streaming could make a difference.
People can watch videos on the VEVO site, right? I'm not sure if views on the YouTube site would count then.
I remember streaming helping Spice Girls' "Headlines" debut on the Hot 100, when it had just 10K or so in sales, and an audience of less than 2 million.

Well, if Katy had been no. 1, I guess Billboard would have put an article about it already.

Lady Gaga, 'Glee' Songs Dominate Hot 100
Lady Gaga maintains her lock atop the Billboard Hot 100 to be released tomorrow (Mar. 24), while the cast of Fox's musical sitcom "Glee" roars in with seven debuting titles.
Gaga's "Born This Way" spends a sixth consecutive week -- its entire chart life -- at the Hot 100's summit. The lead single and title track from her third studio album, due May 23, becomes her second No. 1 on Radio Songs (3-1), following "Paparazzi" in 2009, and gains by 3% to 182,000 downloads sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
What clinches its sustained residence in the Hot 100's penthouse this week, however, is a now-rarely-influential chart component: physical singles sales.
A four-song CD single, featuring the original version of "Born" and three remixes, registered sales of 24,000 in its first full week at retail.
That sales sum is enough to keep "Born" at the Hot 100's apex in a close race with the runner-up, Katy Perry's "E.T.," featuring Kanye West, which pushes 3-2. "E.T." spends a second frame at No. 1 on Digital Songs (261,000 downloads sold, up 21%) and flies 24-13 on Radio Songs (55 million audience impressions, up 24%, according to Nielsen BDS).
Meanwhile, the "Glee" cast registers the second-best digital sales week for any of its singles, as "Loser Like Me" soars onto the Hot 100 at No. 6, and Digital Songs at No. 2, with 210,000 downloads. Its cover of Perry's "Teenage Dream" represents its best weekly sum (214,000, the week of Nov. 27, 2010).
The Fox TV troupe also starts at No. 16 on the Hot 100 with "Get It Right" (151,000 downloads). The tracks mark the ensemble's first recordings of songs written specifically for the series. With five other debuts, the "Glee" cast's seven new Hot 100 entries sold a combined 712,000 downloads in the chart's tracking week.
Two other original "Glee" songs -- the wry "Big Ass Heart" (10,000 downloads) and "Trouty Mouth" (7,000) -- registered notable sales but fall short of denting this week's Hot 100 and Digital Songs surveys.
Rounding out the Hot 100's top 10, Rihanna's "S&M" (4-3) claims Airplay Gainer honors for a second consecutive week. The track jumps 8-5 on Radio Songs (93 million in audience, up 20%).
Cee-Lo Green's "F**k You (Forget You)" dips to No. 4 after four weeks at No. 2 and the Black Eyed Peas benefit from their appearance Thursday (March 17) on "American Idol," as the song they performed, "Just Can't Get Enough," blasts 22-5 as the Hot 100's Digital Gainer. The cut bounds 18-3 on Digital Songs (198,000, up 143%).
P!nk's "F**kin' Perfect" descends 6-7 and Chris Brown's "Look at Me Now," featuring Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes, leaps 12-8 to become Brown's first Hot 100 top 10 since "Forever," which peaked at No. 2 in August 2008 - six months prior to his assault on then-girlfriend Rihanna. "Look" is Brown's 10th Hot 100 top 10; he logged his prior nine between 2005 and 2008.
Bruno Mars' "Grenade" diffuses 7-9 on the Hot 100 and Jeremih's "Down on Me," featuring 50 Cent, enters the top 10 (13-10). Jeremih previously ranked in the top tier with his debut smash "Birthday Sex" (No. 4 peak in June 2009).
"Down" is 50 Cent's lucky 13th Hot 100 top 10 and first since the No. 1 "Crack a Bottle" with Eminem and Dr. Dre in 2009.
Also notably, teen internet sensation Rebecca Black enters the Hot 100 at No. 72 with "Friday." The song bows on Digital Songs at No. 57 with 37,000 downloads sold.
Radio, however, is so far largely avoiding playing Black's widely-panned track. While morning drive programs are discussing (and, thus, adding to) the song's buzz, it garnered just 12 plays in its entirety in the March 16-22 tracking week among the more than 1,200 stations monitored by BDS for the Radio Songs ranking.

Wow so BTW got the #1 in airplay. Does this mean Cee-Lo got shafted there too, or did he get it last week?

boo. I love both GaGa + Katy, and I love both of their current hits, but what I don't like is a stagnant No. 1 spot. 6 weeks is PLENTY now, can't wait for some change on top next week!
1.) Born This Way 2.) E.T. 3.) S&M 4.) F**k You 5.) Just Can't Get Enough 6.) Loser Like Me 7.) F**kin' Perfect 8.) Look At Me Now 9.) Grenade 10.) Down On Me
oh well, at least the Top 10 saw a decent shake-up.
