I've said it before and I'll say it again: Alison Kraus & Union Station are owning the Country field next year.

She was nominated this year for Ludacris My Chick... but Your Love was submitted and snubbed. That was her biggest hit and she landed no noms so why would they nominated her for anything else? Rap Sung is usually pretty competitive so werll see Pop Female should be good with Gaga, Adele, Pink, and maybe Bee Moment 4 Life just outpeaked Your Love so it's not like she's flopping now.

^She shouldnt have gotten the first one... LOL But serioulsy what would she win for? Yeah, she definitely deserved the first one. Her debut album was great, and so is this one. And R&B Album, depending on how the future success goes with her upcoming singles, R&B Vocal Performance and R&B Songs.

I would not have predicted Arcade Fire a year ago but I think the most likely winners as of now for Album of the Year are Lady GaGa, Adele & Kanye West.
GaGa - Born This Way could potentially be HUGE and it sounds really really good so far.
Adele - Majorly surprising sales and fantastic reception. Very Grammyish too.
Kanye - Like AF, it's unanimously the best reviewed album of the year (so far). If he clinches a nomination, it'll be his 4th (more than Radiohead, Eminem, Gaga, etc).

Adele is DEF going to slay, it would be a crime if she didn't win best pop vocal!

Shania Twain should be a favorite if she comes back hard, but then again, I thought the same about Sade. :( I think what hurt Sade is that the album came out early in the year and then it didn't really get a lot if attention by the time the eligibility period was over. It also didn't have any big hits after 'Soldier Of Love' and although it sold well, it got forgotten after the first 5 weeks it was out.

IMO It's ridiculous that they cut some of those categories out. No more gender-based categories?!?!

Not sure how I feel about cutting the gender-based categories. I guess I just don't feel there is a point to getting rid of them, just imo. I am glad they removed the word "vocal" and changed it to "solo" because I am sick of people complaining that "so and so doesn't have a good voice how could they get nominated???"
Should be interesting nonetheless. This definitely means that there will be less "filler" in the nominations, and more musical content.

Wow, I do not know how to feel about the elimination of gender-based categories. I can see the benefits of both sides. I think this will make for better quality music garnering nominations, but in some fields such as R&B, the more established or veteran artists will be relegated to the traditional category, a field I think Monica could have won had she submitted work to it for the 53rd Grammy's. Hopefully more categories will be televised since so many have been eliminated. The 54th Grammy nominations will be something worth waiting for when they are revealed early next year.

IMO It's ridiculous that they cut some of those categories out. No more gender-based categories?!?! This to me is the worst of all the changes. You know a lot of females will be overlooked as the Grammy's always showed the males most of the love.

the Male vocal categories have been garbage for a minute so this doesnt really effect them. Just makes winning harder and more prestigious. And dont worry. Beyonce can still sweep lol

I hope this means quality music will prevail, but I will reserve judgement until I see next year's nominations.

So...has Country Collaboration been merged with Best Country Duo/Group Performance or axed altogether?

Why is there no Best Pop Song? It seems like a dumb idea for them to have Best Country, Rock, R&B, etc. Song yet no Pop.

So...has Country Collaboration been merged with Best Country Duo/Group Performance or axed altogether? It's been merged: Country: Again following the leads from the fields above, the male and female performance has been consolidated, and collaborations now go to the duo/group category. Country Instrumental was eliminated both due to the exceedingly low number of entries and the move of Bluegrass Album to the American Roots field (which bars bluegrass tracks from being entered here).

This change is intense! I can't believe they cut out the gender-based categories. And I agree, there should be a Pop Song. I don't think we will see many artists getting a lot of nominations. I definitely see the most nominations for a single artist next year being 5 or 6. Here are some early predicitons: Adele AOTY ROTY SOTY Pop Solo Performance Pop Vocal Album
Kanye West AOTY Rap/Sung Collaboration Rap Solo Peformance Rap Album Rap Song
Lady Gaga AOTY Pop Solo Peformance Pop Vocal Album

Also I can see Britney Spears having an Album of the Year nominations. AOTY, Pop Vocal Album, Dance Recording.

Wow so had these rules been in effect this year first-time winners Bruno Mars, Swizz, and Fantasia might not have won.

This new merging of the categories is so stupid....many people will probably never win a grammy now..
