rockhall.com/exhibits/one-hit-wonders-songs-that-shaped-rock-and-roll/Some 600 songs and change- and not just Hall of Fame inductees. Too many songs to list here. The Hall of Fame had done a similar list some years back. The Beatles only have 8 selections- for shame. They had 20-something on Rolling Stone's list, didn't they? Eight is the most, though, I believe.

Just a note- the Hall of Fame had a prior list of 500 songs from the mid-90s or so. All of those songs look to be present (except a Dinah Washington track was replaced with another of hers). There are 170 or so additions.

I see The Rolling Stones have 8 entries as well. Do you know what's the newest song listed?

Unless I missed someone, Elvis has the most for a solo male artist (7) and Aretha has the most for a solo female (4).

I see The Rolling Stones have 8 entries as well. Do you know what's the newest song listed? On a quick scan through the list, it appears to be "Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley.

"Crazy" was a HUGE critical hit, so not surprised it got cited.

Yeah HG, Crazy is one of the greatest songs of the 2000's. Wish it could have hit #1 if only for one week. :'(

^Well, "...Baby One More Time" and "Toxic" are her only real notable critical hits (singles or albums)- but as far as shaping anything, probably not.
