NEED. SONG. NOW. I've been listening to Kellie Pickler for the past few hours in preparation for the song's premiere tomorrow night at the concert she said she'll be performing it at!

"...it's gonna be the best one that we've given radio." Hm, when have I heard that before? Right, whenever somebody releases a single. I believe it with her. More traditional country music has always been her thing. She never wanted to do country-pop. She said after the first album that she wanted the second album to be more country, but obviously she didn't get her way. I also don't think her first two producers were all that great. So I'm excited she's working with Miranda's producer for this one. Btw, I don't think it's confirmed that she's performing the new single tonight. That article was just saying that it was her next concert date so that would be her first opportunity to perform it. Not that she necessarily would. Hopefully she does though!

I think her first album was more authentic Kellie. Everything from the vocal imperfections to the less produced sound appealed to me much more than the material on Kellie Pickler. If you hear "Somebody To Love Me" live, for example, you will see how the recording was stripped of most emotional character. Hopefully this album will give off the charm that Small Town Girl had.

I think Wild Ponies is just about the most country and overlooked song Kellie has done. I am so proud that Kellie admits she's struggled to find her place in country music, and that she feels like her last album was her conforming to country pop.
I hope she gets her "Miranda moment" with her new album. She deserves nothing less than the best.

It's interesting that she's producer-hopping like this. Blake Chancey has never overproduced that I recall, and I liked the sound of all the songs off the debut. Chris Lindsey isn't a very experienced producer, so that might explain the bombast of Kellie Pickler.
Working with Frank Liddell might be interesting. Liddell is just as prone to overproduction as anyone else ("Only Prettier", several David Nail and Eli Young Band songs) but he can also strip it down and go totally organic ("The House That Built Me").

I'm not knowledgeable at all with country producers so thanks for all this! It is very interesting to know she's switched producers on all three of the albums. The new producer being a Miranda producer makes me think Kellie could be going for a very more country sound with the entire album. Maybe she's going with Miranda-like songs if Miranda's the one that inspired Kellie in working with him.

My guess is this is gonna be a White Liar-sounding kind of song, which is good. Still no news about the release date?

Tony Thomas has yet to hear any news regarding it :( And as soon as I read about the description of the song, I immediately thought of White Liar .

"Bout to ship my new single...to country radio" clearly wasn't the most accurate word choice....

Of course, when she wrote it, it probably looked like "bow too shep my noo snigle too cutnree raddioh." I feel like that's taking it a bit too far. After all, this is country music we're talking about... ain't nobody gotta have perfect grammar.

" Bout to ship my new single...to country radio" clearly wasn't the most accurate word choice.... Could radio have turned it down or gotten a rough version of it or somethin'? Not a Pickler hater (DYKHMILY is one of my favorites of hers and believe it really underrated); just thinkin' of possibilities for the delay. I honestly hope radio did not turn this down yet; we haven't even heard it yet, for cryin' out loud! Hopefully we'll hear something within the next week. I'll even take a release date at this point. :-\

I'm sure it's fine. I was just saying that because with her wording, she made it sound like the release was imminent. Which, considering she posted that 2 1/2 weeks ago, it obviously wasn't.
Anyway, a parade in Indiana seems like an odd place to debut a song. So hopefully it'll be out before then.
