"Wasted" should've definitely been on the CD. I think it's my favorite single of hers, but DFTRM is right up there with it, so maybe they should've put Wasted on there instead of "Home Sweet Home".

The album count was already known. The single sales, however, was a totally different curveball thrown that I never saw. :o I always thought that Kelly dominated in that.

And that concert revenue. :o :o :o Seriously, for a girl that's had only 2 headlining tours, that's stunning. That, and now that she's going international (with the start of this Australian/New Zealand tour), it'll only improve. :'( :'( Legendarrie Underwood never ceases to amaze me.

Oh, and the HQ version is just too perfect. I'll have to update the poll in TPB tonight/tomorrow with the new sound.

I'd be fine without Max Martin on the next record. I never really cared for 'Quitter'.
On another note, I can't stop playing 'Remind Me'. It gets better with each listen it seems.

"American Idol" hit a high note in season four with the discovery of country music superstar Carrie Underwood.

Arriving at the St. Louis auditions bubbling with stories about life on her family's Oklahoma farm, she exuded a girl-next-door charm that, along with prodigious pipes, quickly distinguished her from the hopeful masses. Not even the notoriously prickly Simon Cowell could contain his excitement, boldly (and correctly) predicting as early as top 11 week that Underwood would not only win the competition but go on to outsell every one of the show's champs.

Thanks to a few tweaks to the "Idol" formula, the rest of that year's crop of talent was admirably diverse. A new rule upped the eligible audition age from 24 to 28, paving the way for the arrivals of runner-up Bo Bice and sixth-place finisher Constantine Maroulis. The pair became the show's first male rockers and would ultimately inspire a car dealership serviceman named Chris Daughtry to give "Idol" a try the following year.

"Bo and I weren't kids," says Maroulis, who went on to earn a Tony nomination for his starring role in the Broadway musical "Rock of Ages." "We were men. We brought a very different energy to the show. A little swagger."

But not, insists Bice, a rocker rivalry.

"Connie and I were kind of pitted against each other because we were both long-haired guys from rock bands," says Bice, now a married father of three who's touring to support his third album, the appropriately titled "3." "But we were roommates on the show and behind the scenes, we had a blast. Neither of us was big on the BS."

Another change in 2005: After season three's predominantly female lineup, an equal number of guys and girls competed in the semifinals and advanced to the top 12. Among those who made the cut were Florida mail carrier Vonzell Solomon, New Jersey music teacher Anwar Robinson and baby-faced student Anthony Fedorov, whose inspirational story -- he overcame a debilitating tracheotomy in order to pursue his dream -- captured the public's imagination and ultimately earned him fourth place.

The season's lightning-rod contestant proved to be Scott Savol, an Ohio corrections officer who, despite reviews from the judges ranging from lukewarm to dismissive, managed to outlast heartthrob Maroulis.

The surprising upset baffled fans, who were quick to blame a snarky new website that had thrown its dubious support behind Savol.

"That was the first big moment for Vote for the Worst," says Richard Rushfield, author of "American Idol: The Untold Story." "If you look at press reports back then, they all said it was because of Vote for the Worst, but the numbers do not bear that out. They're just not big enough to have that kind of impact."

Underwood's impact on the show that launched her career, however, can't be overstated. Everyone from season five's Kellie Pickler to season 10's Lauren Alaina has tried to emulate her soaring countrified vocals and dreamt of matching her success.

But, says Bice, "Carrie's proven to the world what I already knew: There's no one else quite like her."

I think "Remind Me" might wind up going for adds on May 31 or possibly June 6th. But yeah, so far no "official" confirmation from a site like AllAccess or Music Row, so we'll probably have to hold off on the thread in the country forum.

No big deal. It'll start up soon enough and be HUGE, just like the song! ;)

Once he had several songs complete, Paisley made the trip to his record label to play the new music for executives.

“They were like, ‘Excellent, let’s do it,’ ” he says. “But I looked for those reactions when I was playing it. ‘Did they laugh? Did they get it?’ It’s like my focus group. I left and (my manager) said, ‘What do you think?’ And I said, ‘I’m not done.’ ”

From that point on, from his record label’s perspective, getting Paisley to be completely satisfied with the finished product was like pulling teeth. His label group Sony Music Nashville had to keep pushing back the release date.

“He really works hard to finish the record, and then deadline came and it was like, ‘Come on, Brad. We’re really up against it, dude. We’ve really got to get this done.’ He was like, ‘I need two more weeks,’ ” recalls Gary Overton, chairman and CEO at Sony Music Nashville.

Paisley got his extra time and came back with the Underwood duet “Remind Me” — a standout on the record and a song that seems destined to be a single. He was so sure it was a hit that he called Underwood and asked her to sing on it long before he and co-writers DuBois and Kelley Lovelace had even finished the verses.

“I sung the verse (over the phone) and … I’m mumbling through,” he says. “I said, ‘Try this: When I get to this point (in the song), sing “remind me,” ’ and she does. And she goes, ‘I like that.’ I said, ‘I do, too.’ If I finish it, will you do it? She said, ‘If it’s any good, I’ll do it.’ I said, ‘I’ll get it good, or I won’t ask.’ ”


Paisley says the song about a longtime couple craving the steamy early days of their relationship is reminiscent of his relationship with his wife of eight years, actress Kimberly Williams-Paisley.

“I think there’s truth in that for any couple that’s been married for eight years,” he says. “Every now and then (my wife will) do something that just kills me, and I’ll show it. She’ll say, ‘There you go. I remember that.’ There’s truth in that. We’re not in the desperate situation that couple is, but couples with great marriages get to that.”

Overton, who went to Paisley’s home studio the day Underwood recorded her part, says the song was worth the wait.

“I walked into the living room and the studio is upstairs and you can hear Carrie through the floor singing her parts. It’s just like, ‘Wow,’ ” he recalls. “Brad invited me upstairs to hear it and said, ‘Aren’t you glad I asked you for the other week?’ ”

Sooo...apparently Vince Gill had a hand in writing the unreleased co-write 'Leave It To The Rain':

We got to sit in on a tracking session at The Tracking Room right next to our hotel in the afternoon. Country artist Vince Gill and drummer Eddie Bayers were there along with some other supremely skilled players. Vince pulled up a guitar/vocal demo of a song he wrote with Carrie Underwood, who was singing on the demo, and had the guys listen to it, transcribe it, and then work out an intro.

I don’t remember all their names, but the players as well as the engineers were unreal. They took about 45 mins from first hearing the demo to cutting a final take including vocals. Also, the session leader that day showed us how they transcribe a demo on the spot, in one take, and use that as the chart for the rest of the band. One take!!

The session lasted about 2+ hours. They recorded a demo of a song that Vince wrote with Carrie Underwood about a year ago called "Leave It To The Rain". Just seeing how the band approached recording was a lesson in itself. I learned so much just watching these guys communicate through eye language than I did b asking them questions. Truly an unforgettable experience.

The above blog entries are from students that attended Berklee College of Music's trip to Nashville. So, I'm leaning towards the idea that this was just meant to be a learning experience for the students. Butttt...maybe Carrie is revisiting these older co-writes for the new album? And, therefore, an actual working demo was needed? IDK, IDK. Just thinkin' out loud.
